How? The HUD should be pretty much the same considering it's the same Nanosuit... the environment is very different now( remember they farce about CoD reusing the same building?)...

Not saying you're not allowed to form an opinion on what you've seen so far but... game is not finished yet.

The game is one year out. Crysis and Crysis 2 looked HUGELY different from the final products this early in development.

I've seen a video from german testers and they said it really could be just an ad-on, but they assured that it'll look much different. It's not finished yet.

Please guys look up Crysis 2 footage from 6 months before release, it looks nothing like the game. A company like Crytek can do a lot in a year.

But remember its still the same engine... i dont expect vast improvements over Crysis 2.
I think its more a change of gameplay and correcting some of the rather ugly parts of the Crysis 2 grfx.

gameplay:
- Wider areas
- a more Crysis 1 like feeling
- and something i would love to see... destruction like in Crysis 1 or at least equal to Battlefield 3 (b2k). (Maybe not gonna happen because of console limitations again)

grfx:
- Dx11 from the beginning
- lots of high detail textures
- a working support for modders from the beginning ( Just look at skyrim..and the cool features added by modders!)

All developers that start making games first on the console, usually start out making COD clones.
Crysis2 has seriously nothing to do with part 1. Only the suite is the same, the rest is a console game. The whole Multi player was a COD clone type gameplay.

They should go back to the MP of Far Cry 1 without any killstreak and a small perks system and vechicles! And the SP should be a clone of crysis 1 and not 2!!

I think there's some confusion around this, same engine != same game.

Just take a look at, say - Nexuiz, that's a CE3 game too. Looks anything like C2?

This isn't this isn't another COD running on a mo-mod-modified engine from 1999.

They are coninually updating it instead of having to build a brand new engine for each new release. Sorta like Valve with their Source engine.

@ Bloax

I think you cant compare COD and its techhistory with Crytek and their Crysis -games.

Its a new situation for Crytek making 2 games of the same series in the same engine.

Warhead is no exception as it was made by Crytek Budapest and is not a real successor to Crysis 1.

Also remember that Crysis 2 pushed the consoles to their very limit ... how much could you technically improve a game when its predecessor already squeezed out every bit of performance ?

A tough job for Crytek to please everyone this time... especially the Pc fanbase.

There is a possiblity that Crysis 3 may run smoother than Crysis 2 on console. Crysis 2 was Cryteks first attempt at multi-platforming and being that they are using the close to the same engine they have gotten probably gotten more comfortable with console hardware at this point. It's certainly not out of the cards IMO. Look at what 343 is doing with Halo 4. It's using the same hardware as Halo Reach did yet the developers have shown it to have higher quality graphics and models (the new elites look amazing) and have true 720P (Reach ran sub-HD). The main problem that Crytek faces is that they are developing on multiple at the same time so that splits their team on doing research on how to get it best running on either xbox or ps3.

I think you misunderstand the term "optimising" it for the consoles.
There is a point when its not like: hey there is a hardwarefeature of console xy we didnt think about earlier..lets use it now..
Optimising means nothing but scaling down something to a point where FPS and optics are at balance.
For that point of balance you could always push the bar towards grfx by increasing some polys or the vegetation.
But on the other hand you would need to cut other features that would bring the performance to a point of imbalance.
For example: You need to cut out a huge drawdistance and LOD for having a high detailed (but narrow) surrounding.

I hope they keep reading these kind of threads. There's some cool ideas that they could follow. >.> In my opinion, Crytek made such a great job in Crysis 2, not only the graphics. And no, I'm not gonna discuss it like many members do, it's somethings that will never go ahead, so forget this Crysis 1 vs Crysis 2. I enjoyed both, but anyway... I hope Crytek to keep it up and make such a nice game, making us able to do things like grab in tubes, pieces of metal out of the wall and etc. May seem a little different, but I guess they won't think it's impossible for a quadrillion dollar suit. lol

Warhead was never a successor to Crysis, it was simply the same series of events from an alternate perspective.

If they release a demo and it changes for the worst like Crysis 2 then I'll be sad. I can only handle so much shock in one lifetime. Combat in the MP demo was PERFECT. Sure there were bugs but it was more enjoyable than the final product. Weapons seemed balanced and using the suit powers was better and more balanced. I remember being able to shoot with my scar and take a guy out but then switch to my pistol to beat another guy and finish him off with melee. This was much harder in the final product. The Nanosuit felt weak.

I know what optimising is. I'm showing examples of other games that have achieved about as much graphical fidelity as Crysis 2 console-wise yet performed better (on Playstation 3 anyways. Halo 4 should show what the 360 is capable of if 343 Industries is to be believed).

EDIT: Just realized I didn't mention any PS3 examples lol

@ Nivek

The Ps3 is a weird piece of technology as its ment to use the Cell Spu`s to "outsource" some of the tasks the GPU is usually used to. But what u ment about "graphical fidelity in other console games"... Crysis 2 has used features many other console games never ever used before, or never used that heavily. There are only few games with a near to similiar drawdistance (without blurring it out at some point) and very few games with a similiar polycount (overall and not model-wise) and texture quality (the textures are very good for consoles actually, if you keep the drawdistance in mind).
Many consoleshooters ..lets say.. set other priorities in their graphical overall look. Look at Killzone 2,3 or Uncharted 2,3... these games made other compromises to achieve the look they have. Better textures led to narrow areas with a fake or blurred out draw distance... many particles and a nice illumination with nice post effects led to no POM with some very low poly elements (which are hidden very good actually). Its all a matter of leveldesign too... with a good leveldesign and the technical restrictions in mind... you can still create very impressive settings on the consoles...

I am sure the game will be amazing. I played Crysis 2 before I ever even saw Crysis 1. I am not a PC player so I missed out on the crysis 1 game. I downloaded it via XBL, great game! I liked C2 better, just my own opinion but I am sure C3 will also be amazing. I hope the support and patches will be there for C3. Also a better plan for initializing players to find games in any DLC would be great as well. It is bad seeing all these gamers dying to play DLC matches but cant find a match. i am one of those players who has DLC but can never play because I sit in the lobby for 20mins.
