Don't let the leaked game affect your purchase negatively

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 9:34 am

I've seen some post around where people are raging like no tomorrow that people got their hands on the leaked beta-ish game in a negative way. Sure, they got it for free, but it's not the final version (which in my mind, we all want)

If we pay, we are doing it for the sake of a few reasons right?
For me, I am willing to pay for the game because:

Multiplayer
Beautiful graphics that CoD will never have
A game that pushes your pc/console to the limit
A wonderful campaign that's (hopefully) bug free
And most importantly, support Crytek's future games.

Even though the leaked game is out, this won't affect my purchase just because I want something that's top of the line bang for your buck game. I hope you all feel the same way!

I've seen some people posting about how they like it and they're going to buy it and all. If you buy the game even downloading it, I don't see how it's a sin..

The only I see is that they just ruined their fun. Instead of being surprised, some just couldn't wait any longer and just needed to get their hands on it.

Well ive posted this already.. but .. did you guys remember the half life 2 leaked beta?
I think its one of the most famous leaks ever.. and it boosted the interest for a game that has been already gained the highest expectations.

For all i know.. the "beta" is DX9 only... but even in the beta stage it looks very good and runs also very smooth ( better performance than C1).

But seriously what kind of hacker can steal data from an company internal system?

My guess? Crytek has a mole...

Unauthorized illegal access and use of the Crysis 2 intillectual properties would count as theft.

Yeah but thats a legal definition, the law can't tell you if it's "a sin". And religion doesn't tend to cover inter-net copyright or anything else that happened since we stopped paying attention to every Tom dike and Harry who said he'd spoken to god.

If you have your own moral code as I do then I guess you decide that. And if you paid for the game already surely thats a grey area for most people.

But I think it's still against the law. Even hacking a game you own that doesn't work because of faulty DRM is illegal.

PS: I haven't pre-ordered yet nor am I interested in downloading the beta anyway.

IMO, the whole "even hacking a game is illegal" only implies to online games. Campaign, it's a different story. It's not affecting anyone's gameplay but themself.

Well now that I've finally seen some PC footage I have pre ordered the game. Its disappointing that the footage was from the leaked version and not from Crytek themselves.

I wasn't sure about this game before, now that I've seen it I'm definitely going to get it.
But its up to Crytek whether it will be legit or not.
Where the **** do they get the balls to blame this on the PC community from?
How is it the communities fault Crytek can't hire decent people?
Start biching about piracy and you've just lost yourself a customer.
hurdur pirasy is less on consoals...
Must be why pirated 360 games are days if not weeks ahead of PC versions every single time.

I say don't let the extremely limited information (videos, articles, etc.) of Crysis 2 on the PC affect your purchase positively. I don't see the logic of pre-ordering a game that you hardly know anything about.

From what I see and hear, the leaked beta has lots of bugs. Sure they must have fixed some of them, but we still need to see what's there NOW. I would prefer to base a game that I buy off the 'legit' information released by the developers. Crytek has got to release some real information, not this crap. And for me, I also want the MP to be good, I won't base my purchase off a X360 demo either... I play on PC, so I want to base my purchase on the PC game.

Yet, even with an obviously old build it looks great :)

There'll be a pc demo soon anyway.

Considering the MP (and somewhat the SP) in my opinion svcks, I wouldn't be surprised if this is a ploy by EA to blame pirates, and then get Crytek to redo the game.
