I don't like fallout4, it got old really fast.

Post » Thu Jan 21, 2016 3:23 am

Wish I could empathize OP, but I'm over 200 hours in and still have a metric ton of quests and locations to explore, not to mention doing things like finding my way up to all the accessible rooftops and elevated highways to see what's inter-connected where, that seem to be endless; and learning my way around the entire map, and particularly downtown, so it's second nature. After all that, then I'm going to concentrate on clearing, and building up settlements and properly outfitting the inhabitants...then, I'll start another play through with mods.

And I loved Skyrim, but I like FO4 more...probably has more to do with guns versus magic than anything though. Yeah, the whole ballistic weaponry and ammo thing could have been way better from a gun nut perspective (which I personally preferred the NV approach), but it's not a show stopper and modders will fix (rather...improve) that. If they had adopted and improved on that system and done things like lay off the magical Legendary weapon effects, this might have well been my perfect game.

But to each their own, I get it.

Did not know that. Thank you. That was quite a translation task for me. But, who doesn't love a challenge!

I can see where the OP is coming from. I'm past 250 hours and still on my first play-thru. I haven't found every locations yet and taking my sweet time getting around. I'm spending more time developing a few settlements between wandering around and revisiting some locations.

I do have some concerns about to approach a second run and have decided to wait for the GECK and a few good mods before starting my female PC play-thru. I have about ten Skyrim characters' lives that I'm 'maintaining' so I think I can wait a few months.

Why do you crash so much ? I've crashed only ONE time in the 120 hours that I've played and I have quite a list of mods as well and been installing and unistalling them for awhile now, does your PC meet the requirements of the game ?

Maybe I'm just lucky here but Fallout 4 is super stable for me. It's...refreshing actually.

-You mean the one hit weapon of doom that required a cycle of spamming alchemy, enchanting, and blacksmithing (essentially meta-gaming) ?

-Didn't know .49% health regen in combat equated to unkillable demi-gods.

Yeah, no...not easier.

soo..you spent "thousands" of hours playing skyrim but have an issue with fallout? Fair enough, everyone is different but Bethesda's games all follow the same formula. I honestly don't see a huge difference between the two except skyrim's skill system was terrible and well, at this point it is far more rich in mods due to it's age which extends it's playability over fallout 4 currently, which is a bit unfair until fallout 4 gets modding tools of it's own.

Oh it certainly is. I was kinda responsible about it though and didn't install/unisntall anything that would obviously damage my save (the mods that change the world space, contain scripts, add too much stuff to the NPCs) and I test them for a while to see if things are good, but the risk is definitly there and I accept it :)

You can 'REALLY hate' that response as much as you want...but welcome to Bethesda games. This is how they do it. If you didn't like it in Skyrim why did you buy FO4 and expect anything different? FO3 was the same.

It's a formula that works and is very successful.

Complaining about it is like complaining that Dark Souls is too hard and you die all the time. That's the kind of game it is and Bethesda makes what they make.

Bethesda creates the world and a story. You create the adventure.

It's not Dragon Age, it's not Dark Souls, it's not Baldur's Gate. Doesn't try to be or claim to be...but some seem to think it needs to be all of those plus something else.

And it 'should be required'? The only thing Bethesda ever requires in any of their open world games is that you exit the starting dungeon or Vault. The don't even force you to do the main quest but still let you advance and develop your character and go anywhere in the world.

Create a god character and rule the world as one. Or keep it real, play as a somewhat normal character and struggle to survive.

Your choice. How cool is that?

Gamers are an odd bunch. When I try something new and don't like it I move on. I don't go to the Internet to complain about it. I understand long time fallout fans being disappointed for whatever reason, because they've invested years in the game as a diehard fan. But this was your first fallout. You don't like it. That's cool. Not everybody likes the same things. I had this exact experience with metal gear 5. I hadn't played the other ones. Got 5, loved it at first, and then suddenly couldn't stand it and thought it was hokey. So I quit playing it and moved on.

As someone who modded the absolute hell out of Skyrim, I was told that removing an esp even one that does very little or next to nothing at all can have a chance to FUBAR your saves that used the esp. Ever since then I've been generally trying to avoid any mod that uses an esp unless they are very important like the unofficial patches or something that would make sense to have an esp like Immersive armor. Something like a mere retexture should not have an esp as far as I know.

At 175 hours into the game I don't see how the game was a bad purchase for you even if you never pick it up again.

Well, for the same investment, you could enjoy three hours of a personal trainer yelling at you to push harder instead...

I thought Skyrim was so much less interesting than Oblivion. Of course, I play on a console, because Bethesda doesn't do Mac and I won't have one of those steampunk pieces of trash (PC) in my house. So I've never been able to mod a Bethesda game. I loved FO3, didn't care much for New Vegas.

This one I like. I love the settlement system, and although a lot of the quests are of the kill/get/return variety, if you listen to all the dialog and try all the options there is some great stuff in here. There are also some choices to make, maybe not as many as FO3 but still quite a few. I am looking forward to being to use mods once they come out for the PS4.

I'm level 42, probably 100 hours in or so.

Can I include punching that same trainer in the face over and over and over when he/she yells at me or do I have to buy another hour for that privilege. Either way,..

Oh I agree. Well worth the price. And I was wrong, next time I played after that post was closer to 200 hrs and lvl 39.

But maybe it was the hype - all that rubber banding discussion - don't really know for sure but overall I thought the game was going to be harder. I think I got through the glowing sea at level 23 or something, and have been working avoiding completing the main story.

Like I said, I'm hoping the book info will keep the game going for years to come.

Lots of complaints about the game being easy. What I usually do is avoid the "increase damage outpout" bonuses perks and stay on normal or hard. Seems ridiculous to play on survival if you then increase damage by 200% and take all the perks to reduce damage taken.

I still mod armors and weapons, to have full versions, but let the "natural" damage given or taken. This allows me to take more perks in other aspects of the game for RP (not wasting say 10-20 perks on damage or resistance) and it also allows me tu use ALL weapons without being penalized for only specializing in certain types of weapons.

Just a suggestion.

I do understand, but when i think back on Fallout 3 i did not play it as much as any Elder Scrolls title. If i replay Fallout 3 to this day, i am usually done with a mostly full playthrough in 40 hours, and that is not alot of content. Fallout 4 will forunately have a long and healthy life span thanks to the modding community. There are over 150 pages of mods on nexus so far without a kit. Fallout 3 and New Vegas has about 500 pages each, just to put it in perspective. Is it lacking in content? Abit maybe, but it certainly has more than Fallout 3, but feels less than Skyrim.

I don't understand people that run through these games in a week.

I've been playing Beth games for well over a decade now and have yet to run in to any of them that took me less than a couple of months.

It's all the side stuff, not the main quest. Sure, I can run through Skyrim in the spawn of a weekend in all I do is the main questline and don't spend any time in character development, but, why would I? I buy this genre because I love the depth.

There is no way I can go through 3, NV or 4 in 40 hours. 90% of it would remain undone!

If that's how they really like to play, it's fine (maybe they have a bunch of other games they want to play), but what really gets me is when those who do play that way *also* complain about how the game lacks depth and how they ran out of things to do. I'm the type of player who wants to experience every detail of a game and really get more than my money's worth out of it, so I definitely can't relate to that playstyle myself. It's almost like Bethesda's games were made for me though. :)
