I was heading home from Ancient's Ascent, fulfilling a bounty request from Falkreath's Steward. It was pouring down rain all the way home to Lakeview Manor. I went in, disenchanted some new items, went out and it was sunny as all get out. I forgot to "weed the garden", so I did that on this wonderful sunny afternoon and went inside to put my stuff away. When I cam out again, it was snowing! Blizzard-like conditions.

So, if you do not like the weather in Skyrim, wait a minute or two. It will change. Drastically! Or, leave a cell and come back into it

Weather is tough to program into a game, I know. So many variables to deal with. But surely it can be better than reloading a cell a player just left with a fresh "chance" for precipitation? Or maybe I just got lucky in this instance?

Weather adds so much to the "feel" of the world, for me. I wish it did not detract so, as it seems to in most games. Those are my thoughts on weather. What's yours?

I guess there's mods to sort out the weather......but talking from stock vanilla. It feels like Beth had a good stab at putting weather into a game world, but very much early days. The effects look fine, but it needs weather to be seasonal......yes it does, for us long term players. We want hot summers, snowy winters and wet windy spring and autumns.

As AlBy says also it's stupid having instant radical weather change. I'm sure Beth will get the hang of it. Before Skyrim was released there was a suggestion of snow that actually accumulated....imagine that! Sadly they haven't even got to grips with rain coming through outdoor porch roofs and stone arches. In Skyrim the rain REALLY penetrates!

Won't help you, Rick, but there are some decent weather mods out there.

I had the dame complaint about Morrowind so I created a "simple seasons" mod, that simply altered the chance of rain snow, or sun according to the season.

I'd like to see further........
Puddles in a downpour.
Patches of mud that looked like wet mud
Water dripping off trees
Rainbows......not too often......quickly gets old
Hail
Footprints in snow....I've seen this in much older games
Npcs get a cold weather clothing load out automatically.....complete with wraparound scarf and flat cap j/k
I did notice one recent vid....I think Sah, snorting nose steam in the cold......that was quite clever....mods I guess
Slippery ice....yeah. Always thought it stupid in Skyrim. Klimmek even warns you about the treacherous steps, but nothing happens!

So I think there was much that could and should have been added as standard, some of it I'm sure wouldn't have taxed the developers too much. It wouldn't have killed to make rooves waterproof! Much I'll hope to see in TES VI......or I'll get a pc! Biggest issue there is using a mouse and keyboards from my recliner chair!

I never really cared for weather, except when it's raining for two weeks straight. Seriously, just like in Oblivion, my characters have bad luck to weather, and it rains NONSTOP!!!!

Sounds like a little like Oblivion where it's storming in the Merchants' District in the Imperial City and then all sunny and clear skies when you fast travel to the Temple Distrcit

Pffff, I live in the Netherlands, and here sudden weather changes are normal.

A few days ago it looked like an ocean was pouring down, but it stopped suddenly and the weather became sunny. Lots of rainbows to enjoy ofcourse

especially if you stay around the southern areas like bravil and leyawiin also about the op thread rain in skyrim was always a trickle no matter what it was a light rain never a heavy downpour and lightning?! Oh boy dont even get me started on that weak souce stuff.
