[Idea] Don't own any weapon

Post » Mon Jan 18, 2016 6:58 am

Guys, you got to try this. I got this idea when I ran out of ammo for both the weapons I usually carry around and found myself in a building with raiders swarming all over the place. I looted the body of the first raider I killed, picked up his weapon and killed with it the next raider, once again I looted the body, threw away the previous weapon and used whatever I found to kill the next enemy and so on.

So, here's how it goes:

- leave all weapons at home

- kill the first enemy with your bare hands

- loot his body, pick up his weapon and use it until you either run out of ammo or loot another body

- once you're out of ammo or have another body to loot THROW AWAY the current weapon and use whatever you have found from now on

- repeat the last two steps

Of course you have to skip the process for whatever non-human enemy you kill. I assure you it's a lot of fun for those semi-god characters who want to spice things up a little. Give it a try!

It's near impossible to kill people with your bare fists in survival mode with no unarmed perks.

there should be a "New and Unorthodox ways to play" thread where all these ideas can go. I have a few fun ways I play, I doubt anyone else does them, but restricted play styles like this makes things interesting to us god-like OP players out there.

To each their own, but this sounds like more of a complete pain in the ass to me than anything else.

Definitely nothing wrong with that. If you're getting enjoyment out of it, then more power to you!

Ways to play at survival: leave your power armor at home.

At the moment I have like 120 ballistic resistance, 120 with energy resistance, 20 radiation resistance, but could go higher if I get armorer perk. Giving up my fully modded X-01 has given me more challenge, or else I was just a big bullet sponge.

What about don't own anything at all. You never store anything anywhere, you survive with what you got. And you can only craft stuff with the mats in your inventory.

Sometime in Fallout 3 when I felt like a late-game challenge, I'd subject myself to an 'alien abduction'.

Those nasty aliens scooped me out of my comfy bed, did unspeakable things to my nethers, and then dropped me off somewhere without so much as a "thanks for the fun night out, dude!"

So, just fast-travel to a random place, far away from your home: no companion, *stripped completely butt-naked*, not a single thing in your inventory, no clothes, weapons, chems, no caps, nothing.

The aim is simple - make it home safely, surviving on whatever you can scavenge or barter for along the way. Obviously (d'uh!) no fast travel allowed.

Sometimes you find yourself beamed down in the middle of a bunch or raiders, and task number one is to run like hell to find some safety.

These were the times when I really feared for my life and ended up wearing rags, with just a crappy combat knife for company, drinking out of toilets.

Finding a 10mm pistol with a few rounds was like pure treasure.

It is not a civilised way to kill using bare hands. B??h. I prefer bullets or my chainsaw.

Isn't this basically how the game starts? So essentially, just start a new game...

I didn't realise I could own a house in Fallout 3 until after completing it. So that's exactly how I played first time. Was good too.

try playing without perks that affect damage or dam resist. my most recent video is infiltrating weston water plant and i think is a good example of how NOT easy it is on survival mode xD and even have power armor. (again not using dam perks)

Um why not just make a Melee character if you don't want to use ammunition? I mean dropping the ammo is great and all, just seem like a waste because it weighs nothing and you can sell it to traders.

Oh yeah, absolutely. When I say bring nothing, I really mean nothing. The only things in your inventory should be quest items that you can't leave behind, and you're not allowed use them.

I'm telling ya, them aliens are thorough when they strip ya.

It's all fun and games till a deathclaw comes at you and the only thing you have in your inventory is a pipe pistol and tire iron :)

Which is where the sprint key comes in! That plus lots of lurking, sneaking and massive detours to avoid trouble.

@op - sorry, I didn't mean to hijack your thread.
