Don't see the point of magicka.

I know, lol. Sometimes I wish they were more stupid so I wouldn't feel the want to reply. Somehow these trolls are so well skilled. They surf the edge of hopeful and hopeless moron.

Trolling?

Already shown in another thread you can, with only drops, reduce destruction costs down to next to nothing then just chain impact people. Destruction is arguably the strongest skill tree without support skills(conjuration being the other contender).

I havn't seen a single glove item that reduces destro costs yet on 3 characters. Its extremely rare. The other 3 items take high levels to even see on vendors.

This theory has way too much luck/chance riding on it. Btw being lucky and finding 4 +onehand damage items makes that stronger without support.

Not that it matters, didn't you already admit to using enchanting since i doubt you yourself found +80-100% in vendor items; i certainly haven't on 3 characters.

A skill that depends on items that may or may not spawn past level 40? LMAO. Face it, its enchanting until you finally find these items at level 50-60.

Level 40 doesn't take very long.

And if you are level 40 and those items don't spawn or are simply 17% instead of 25%? I've never seen the gloves and I've only seen the other 25% items past 45.

Isn't that kind of silly , why not just slightly fix magicka costs so people aren't forced to exploit?

You do realize that you can just get the destruction perks(Or whatever school you use)
And still get insane amount of magicka reduction.

So people like me are ruining the game using the resources given to us?
EDIT : I can kill an ancient dragon in my chefs set that gives full sneaking/pickpocketing. and a ~120 damage dagger.

You're not ruining the game for me, mate. Sounds like you ruined it for yourself, though.

And I don't really care what you do in your chef suit. Don't know how you got a dagger to do 120 dmg either. My Greatsword does 37...

Of course I used enchanting, why wouldn't I? There is no exploit or cheat that was used to get 100% cost reduction. You simply get 100 enchanting with perks and put the enchants on your armor. It's as much an exploit as using a flame thrall is.

What level and difficulty is your mage on?

Those perks alone aren't close to enough on high levels.

I shouldn't have to use that exploit and depend solely on one skill to play. The magicka bar is in the game for a reason.

Imagine if one-hand performed horribly and I simply told you to "stop whining" and linked you this each time: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1289727-2419-armor-6399-damage-using-smithing-alchemy-enchanting-only-33-perks-329k-backstabs-post-4/

Also think about it, why did they even put regen and magicka gear in the game? its completely useless and devalued compared to +Skill cost. Something is up, and creation kit can't come soon enough.

I always wonder why some people spend their time specifically trying to break the game instead of just sitting down, playing it intuitively and enjoy that?

I'm level 20 now, and have played exactly how I felt like. The game feels balanced to me cause I have perks here and there, have used many of my skills and I don't seek out exploits, nor do I take advantage of them if I happen to find any. I still get challenged in battle with bosses (and powerful non-bosses too), and I think that's how the game was intended to be played.

Don't intentionally try and break the game, and it'll be great. Now you're just upsetting yourself and ruining your experience. Your choice.

Yet again sorry for using the things the game has given me. You either need to stay away from ebony / daedric armor or weapons or you will not enjoy the game it seems.

Stay away from alchemy and enchanting.

Even before all this I didn't find it hard. I guess I'm just the type of person that loves a good challenge. I want gear you have to work for, which you should be able to get in very hard dungeons that are damn near impossible to solo.

Are you saying the game doesn't allow you to open the console and use the godmode cheat without mods? :P

I see the 100% reduction to magicka cost for a single school as a way of making Destruction actually usable at higher levels. With all the talk about how it either does no damage if you want to conserve mana or wastes all your mana when you want to actually hurt something, I find it funny that others don't notice that these two things together balance each other out.

Yes I'm saying it doesn't.. Not on all versions of it at least. :P

this thread is amazing... OP said a few short words stating the mere existence of an exploit, and with nothing but this tiny seed the forum has started another flame war :flamethrower: !

someone needs to get some behavioral scientists looking at this board. we could learn so much about the mind of the average internet poster...

120 damage dagger, dude: Thats a heavy enchanted, smithed dagger.

Why dont you kill an ancient dagger in your chefs set and an iron dagger?
No, you cant do that can you.

Go back to your enchanted gear dude and feel powerful.
And let us who play the game with no secondary skills enjoy the game. Its challenging when you dont abuse it.

Just cause I was allowed to make nuklear weapons to defeat a group of bandits, does not mean I did it.
Enchanting+smithing+alchemy is nothing short of a nuclear bomb brought to a knife fight.

For some gamers, such as myself, power gaming (pushing the game's rules to the limit for most effective solutions) is what comes intuitively.

The thing is if you play intuitivelly, couple destro with enchanting, invest heavily into magicka so you can be the best glass cannon possible ... there comes a time when you realize you shouldn't have done that. Game tells you to boost magicka and magicka regen and then introduces mana cost reduction enchants that are 10 times more effective.

I think it would be better off if enchantments regarding magic increased the potency of spells instead of reducing cost

It'd be more compelling , and it'd also make it not-stupid to put points in magicka anymore

When I can just make a set of armor that gives 100% reduction in the destruction / restoration tree.

I know, right? And why are even iron, steel, orcish, elven, ebony and dwarven weapons/armors in the game when daedric/dragon is best?

Yeah we should be able to enchant +% dmg to destro spells and be able to craft our own custom staves, Then with all the exploit we could make a 100k dmg per hit staff thats called The Staff of Nuclear Holocaust :hubbahubba:

Which, ironically, do not have console coommands. :bonk:

I honestly think that the reduction of spells should only be allowed to get as high as 75%. At the same time, smithing and enchanting and alchemy should also have a cap of how good you can make stuff. :o

It's not an exploit.

Exploit is taking advantage of a bug or a glitch.

I have too little magicka on my newest character to cast the spell that allows me to join the College :(

Fail? Magelight costs 74 mana to cast. Every character in the game starts with 100 mana...

Honestly if you want to look at it like that.
Health, Stamina, AND Magicka are all ultimately pointless when you consider the fact that at any point in the game you can pause combat and drink as many potions as you want. So your only real limitation how many potions you are carrying and your willingness to abuse 'pause and pot' tactics over and over again.
