Don't see the point of magicka.

When I can just make a set of armor that gives 100% reduction in the destruction / restoration tree.

Obvious flaw in game design. I don't see the point of health either, just open up console and type -tgm-. Pretty much same thing, although the reduction of cost is actually something the game allows you to do.

Because that requires a significant skill, time, and perk investment. And you can only make a 100% reduction on two schools for a single suit.

I shouldn't bite at these threads. I know I shouldn't. I can't help it.

If you use more than one or two schools of magic, then it is still a very important stat.

And you'll sacrifice other enchantments that could be in place of the cost reducing ones. Plus, as this is a single player game, only because you can do something doesn't mean you also have to do it if it doesn't match your playstyle preferences. :) It's not a competitive game.

Right, Because, you know, you get the ability to make that at level 1.

Restoration is useful and is a godsend if I don't want to waste potions in a non boss fight.

I'm not sacrificing much to be honest.

It doesn't take very long. Quite easy to do actually. What else would you want to use other then Destruction / restoration or destro / conjuration.

By that logic sneak skill was useless in Oblivion since you could enchant armor pieces with over 100% chameleon.

And health too because nothing could hurt after that :teehee:

either use a scroll, or use a fortify magicka potion to temporarily increase your mana pool

My mage can't make that armor and has no interest in doing so.

When you have over 900 health... nothing hurts. When you have free heals that heal for 600, nothing hurts.

Destruction / Restoration has OP written all over it.

I always wonder why some people spend their time specifically trying to break the game instead of just sitting down, playing it intuitively and enjoy that?

I'm level 20 now, and have played exactly how I felt like. The game feels balanced to me cause I have perks here and there, have used many of my skills and I don't seek out exploits, nor do I take advantage of them if I happen to find any. I still get challenged in battle with bosses (and powerful non-bosses too), and I think that's how the game was intended to be played.

Don't intentionally try and break the game, and it'll be great. Now you're just upsetting yourself and ruining your experience. Your choice.

So people like me are ruining the game using the resources given to us?
EDIT : I can kill an ancient dragon in my chefs set that gives full sneaking/pickpocketing. and a ~120 damage dagger.

You know, nobody said you have to take advantage to this cool thing you found. That was your choice. Instead of enchanting all your armor with the same couple enchantments, you could have used something else to benefit another area instead of putting all the same thing.

The big problem is nothing else needs to be "Benefited"

That is an enchantment exploit, not destro/resto.

Without that exploit it is the weakest damage type and probably hardest playthrough.

I use a lot of magica to flame-roast my deer before I skin them... makes the skin come-off faster, and pre-heats the venicine before I cook it.

Are you saying the game doesn't allow you to open the console and use the godmode cheat without mods? :P

I see the 100% reduction to magicka cost for a single school as a way of making Destruction actually usable at higher levels. With all the talk about how it either does no damage if you want to conserve mana or wastes all your mana when you want to actually hurt something, I find it funny that others don't notice that these two things together balance each other out.

Agreed. If someone takes the times to exploit and turn into god-mode its their own game and its up to them. Who cares what they do.

Already shown in another thread you can, with only drops, reduce destruction costs down to next to nothing then just chain impact people. Destruction is arguably the strongest skill tree without support skills(conjuration being the other contender).
