I don't think we'll be able to see DX11 soon...

Just something I realized when I was searching back on Crysis 2 news and Cryengine 3.

http://www.incrysis.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=812&Itemid=1

Cryengine 3 was shown to use with demo footage in DX9 and DX10 as far as I am concerned, correct? We have not seen any DX11 footage with the engine at all then and from the article, it seemed that support would be coming soon. Then, Crysis 2 was suppose to be the first DX11 implementation of using the engine. At this point, I can't really say much now about even getting DX11 if they had only promised DX11 on the engine and they haven't even gotten it working on the engine. At this point, Cryengine 2 looks much superior in this regards with DX support and technically more advanced visual displays than what we have seen so far.

I hope I am wrong, but it seems that at this point if they can't even deliver on their engine and game at this point, then there is a chance of it not happening when the SDK and editors that are promised over the summer are released with the same technical shortcomings or delayed. This is quite a sad situation indeed we have here.

DX11 was a marketing gimmick by Nvidia to get people to buy their GPU's. Only thing that makes sense since we all know Crytek isn't going to put a patch out for DX11 when they can make terrible DLC and make money off of it.

"DX10 was a marketing gimmick by microsoft to get people to buy their O/S" fixed that for ya.

Honestly, dx11 is a big step. Tesselation is awesome ( or can be). DX11can do lots of the same effects as 9, but with 1/3 the computing power. It isn't a gimmick. Its just it hasn't been used properly yet. Part of the reason everyone is so pissed off, Crytek said they would use it properly, and then dropped it all together and gave us an xbox game for the pc, that doesn't look as good as their previous title. Notice I didn't say it didn't look GOOD. It looks great, but not as expected/promised.

Guys, you should really cite your sources because it says NOWHERE that Crytek will not support DX11. It might come in at a later patch, but seriously have patience jeez...

Wouldn't really care either way, if your still using a DX10 gpu, you should be upgrading by now.

Stalker uses dx11 properly, it makes it run like 2 times better than dx10 mode.

Ahh, thanks, I never got into the STALKER series ( got the first one, and the headbob made me sick, so I quit). I know crytek said dx11 was to be included. They over and over said they would continue to push pc's to their limits. I'd be fine with dx9 honestly, if it looked ANYWHERE near as good as crysis 1 did. Crysis 1 was dx9 ( 10 was just 9 running slower) and looked far better than this does. Honestly, go look at some of the screenshot comparisons. The lighting in crysis 2 is great. Everything else is pretty much average. Oh, and I have a gtx470. hot as hell, but great to overclock. The issue here is that a dx11 'patch' can't fix alot of these issues. The engine and art need to be designed from the groundup for dx11 for it to actually make much of a difference. I can already run the game great. The patch may add some better particle effects etc, but still will be based off the dx9 we have at the moment.

DX11 was a marketing gimmick by Nvidia to get people to buy their GPU's.

You obviously don't know what you're talking about. DX11 brought a lot to the table over DX10. If anything DX10 was a gimmick over DX9. Also, ATI brought out DX11 enabled graphics cards a whole year before Nvidia... so... you're wrong in every way.

Aside from that, I don't understand why everyone who's biching about it not having DX11 even bought the game. Either you want the game for the gameplay, in which case, stfu and play. Or, you really just wanted it to push your rig to the limit, and hope that it's fun too. In that case, you're stupid. I think pre ordering, for starters, is an absolutely assinine thing to do. You might get lucky and it'll work out for you, but seriously, you're buying the game before even trying it. You have NO RIGHT to bich about a feature not being there that wasn't in the demo either, and that was also hugely publicized as soon as the game was released. Gamer mentality is pretty stupid sometimes.

Oh and about the patch. Well, F1 2010 didn't have DX11 at launch (it had DX10 though). It took around a month for the DX11 patch to come out, but, they already have a DX11 title - Dirt 2. So it's hard to say but I doubt Crysis 2 will get patched with DX11 anytime soon. Not till after you've beat it and moved on, anyway.

Next time, WAIT. Pay for the game if it's worthy, not on hollow promises.
