I don't wear a helmet

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 1:29 am

Because I want my enemies to get a good look at me as I thrust my blade through their chest.

Anyone else do something clearly not optimal just for kicks?

I don't wear masked helmets because Argonian faces are longer then that of men or mer and it always looks wierd having a tail and a flat-faced helmet.

I don't wear open-faced helmets because of... well, look at my sig.

I'm often tempted to not wear a helmet, since most of them are not very good looking. However, with the set bonus perks, I usually have to, but I have them favorited for quick on/off use.

Although my current character has a Glass helmet, which I actually think looks extremely badass. He's a dark elf, and sometimes I even wear some destruction robes but keep the helmet on, with boots and gloves from the Ancient Dark brotherhood armor. The helm also had 40% mana regen, so it works well.

I always take my helmet off when I'm not in battle, otherwise it goes right back on. For the same reason that I can't fight without a shield (since in my opinion taking a full on battleaxe blow without a shield would simply mean instant death in any actual confrontation) I always wear a helmet in battle. And when I make it into town, I give my armor to my companion to carry for me.

Every time i give my armor to my companion they always put every single piece on including my shield. so i just keep it in my inventory lol.

I don't wear helmets because the majority of them are [censored] hideous.

Instead I wear a hood, it fits my character. Makes him seem mysterious, you see...

Some games have the option to make the helmet invisible so that you still look cool but get the benefits of the extra armor

Yeah but TES games aren't about min-maxing so it's not a big deal.

At all.

Some helmets are cool, I tend to like that Iron helm but most of the time its helmless.

and yea its not about min maxing, I don't even go up far enough on the heavy side for that full set bonus.

just have a blast slaying dragons while looking damn fine doing it. :hubbahubba:

Thing is you don't need the best armor or weapons to be successful in this game. You just need decent armor and weapons to be successful. So, looks can be a big part of the decision about armor without really worrying about any real losses in effective protection.

Now, if they would just adjust the perks so I did not have to wear a helmet, that would be sweet. I am talking about those perks that require a character to wear a full set of armor.

I took my GF to the movies last week and my dad really got onto me about wearing a helmet. I never understood why, I was like "Dad, that would be very embarrasing to wear a helmet at the movie".

I have a Khajiit character who hardly ever wears any helmet. Sure, it costs her a couple dozen points, but she looks good with one of those circlet crown things and without one, I can see her ears wiggle!

I remember one of the first things I did once I got Dragon Age- Origins was find the Invisible Helmet mod, much better like that.

The steel helmet does not look THAT bad. Looks like an ordinary helmet. That is what I use right now, personally. That, Dwemer armor, fur boots, steel gauntlets and a steel shield. A bit of a mishmash between everything, but it works.

I usually put clothes and a circlet on my character in and around town. I also tend not to don a helm unless I need it for battle. I usually go for the better looking armour even if it's not as high as something else I have.

I don't wear one usually. My character has become experienced enough that having his senses unimpaired is more important than the added protection. Also, he's bald so it allows for maximum cooling during longer fights :)

I don't wear helms because I spend a ridiculous amount of time customizing my face. I also wear armor that looks cool, and use weapons that fit my character, even if its not "optimal" .

I used to wear a helmet all the time, until I realized that my character's armor rating in full gear is over three times the armor cap. Now, I take my helmet off, and am only slightly over one-and-a-half times above the armor cap. :tops:

I wear circlets as dawning a helmet and almost any other cloth head-wear makes it look like i never had furry ears to begin with. Or it looks as though my ears being that folded over would never be comfortable :(
