They should make it so that they spawn several dragons at one time that would more epic and less annoying.

lvl 20 and I've killed probably 8-9. I FT a lot too. I see them alllllll the time near Whiterun. If you go from Whiterun to that area where you first encountered the first dragon in that (now) crumbled keep, you'll see 'em. I guarantee it. (Men's Wearhouse voice).

Its curious because it affects the game to some degree.

Dragons never seem to be causing anyone any real harm by my main characters point of view. Sure they are homicidal but who isn't these days.

Character wise, they seem to stay out of the way, so why go out of my way to hurt them.

If they were more prolific in my game, I may have cause to search them out.

I'm not very far in the MQ (just plowed through a good bit of it over the last two days, and just reached Blackreach). Yet I have about 30 dragon kills over 67 hours played. Do use fast travel a fair amount, but not constantly. I have a chest at home that's just overflowing with scales and bones.

I seem to get attacked every time I go to Winterhold anymore. Seen two or three in Riverwood. Tonight I was up towards Solitude and saw two of them fighting with a giant, took both out with the big guy's help.

Not that I'm complaining at all. I still enjoy the fights. Breaks up the monotonous wolf - wolf - bear - wolf - wolf - sabre cat - wolf as I'm traveling from A to B.

I don't know if Riverwood can withstand another dragon attack, half of the town has been wiped out. Almost everyone is dead...

I love killing dragons = D, just killed my first Elder a minute ago (tough btw, that fire is strong). I enjoy it for the free stuff, the soul, and the Skyrim theme music that pops up once in a while.

there is no way I am going to do the MQ just because I am fricking tired of random dragon spawn. they are like rats.

I have killed so many, I have lost count. and they never spawn at a scary time just inconvenient.

and AND they spawn too many time in the same place. seriously, after my 3rd dragon kill in riverwood, you think the lesser dragons would STAY AWAY. do you go where your friends got murdered? I can see an elder showing up to riverwood because they were ticked at our murder of their fellow dragons.

DONE!

I am going to go download the "no random dragon spawn" mod. right now.

Dragons give you souls to unlock shouts. Why would you want to get rid of random dragons????

I wish you could set spawn rate. the mod I looked at seems to not work for many people so I am gonna wait til I hear back it works.

I lost my cool when I was about to head out to end ulfric....and a dragon shows up. if that never happened, or was hard, then that would be awesome.

the hardest part? not ripping my computer out of the wall because mr. elder dragon won't come the FFFF down so I can murder him. fly fly fly fly fly fly FAR fly fly fly. I don't have dragonrend yet.

I was thinking about doing more MQ (I am half done) but seriously, this is JUST LIKE the oblivion gates.

my suggestion? don't trigger the first dragon in whiterun UNTIL you want open season on dragon bones. etc. when you have more than god, do only MQ til you are done.

This does not work, at all.

Dragons will start to randomly spawn regardless of what you do, when you are 15+. Simple as that.
at 30+ dragons are popping up quite frequently. Even if you didnt kill the first dragon by white run.

Its definitely the fast travel that makes them spawn more. I was bouncing across the map to different blacksmiths trying to get ingots for some armor and I got 3 Dragon spawns in about 10 fast travels.

Dragons: the new Oblivion gates.

True, but they're far more interesting, and less timely.

That fast-travel theory might well be true.

Lvl22, 50 hours played.
I killed the first dragon at lvl5 or so. The one for the main quest.
Then I saw 2 more between lvl10 and lvl15. No way I could kill them. So I ran. Every time I came to those 2 areas, I avoided the dragons.
Then around lvl15 I got suprised by another dragon while I was running over a small mountain path. I decided to take it on. And killed it.
Since then, from lvl15 to lvl22, I have not seen any more dragons.

I hardly ever fast-travel. Done it maybe twice in 50 hours.

Game is a blast. I don't mind there aren't that many dragons. Like I said, I tried to avoid them anyway. Later there will be more than enough time to fight them.

I will never get tired of it. Dragons are Badasses they know it, I know it. They don't care where they're friends die cause they all believe they can beat you, besides what if all dragon fights were scripted, boring, MQ events would you like it more then?

I'm 33 hours into the game, at level 15, and I haven't come across a single dragon except for the one seen in the starting sequence. I do fast travel a lot, so I'm guessing that it's not linked to that. I'm thinking dragons are triggered by the main quest which I have not yet attempted. I've somehow side-stepped the main quest completely and have been spending my time in Riften (bought the house, joined the Thieves guild, got married). I didn't even know there was a main quest until I went online.

Without any guidance from the game I'm starting to worry that I might have already "outgrown" the main quest and thus screwed myself into needing to start over.

Its definately fast travel related in my opinion. Im 100hrs played and i never used the fast travel function or even carriages and in that time i encountered maybe 4-5 random dragons. However, recently i went on a fast travel spam fest due to a guild related quest chain i was eager to finish up and i noticed that nearly every single place i fast travelled to had a dragon waiting for me. I have to admit that it got really annoying very quickly in those cases..so i can understand why some people would be totally fed up with them, especially if they use fast travel all the time.

Though, without the use of fast travelling i find the random dragon spawn rate to be fine and quite epic most of the time =)

Using fast travel will cause more spawns. I'm not saying don't use it but it's def a reason for more spawns. Soon there will be a mod to adjust this i'm sure.

I've killed about 11 dragons so far. They're not too common for me though, but I wouldn't say they're rare either.

Oblivion gates, anyone?

The Oblivion gates was one of the worst designs of Oblivion. The dragons are much more nicely done and more thought out and they are not done poorly in how they act. Stat wise yeah they might be a little week but that does not make them a burden like Oblivion gates.

I'm just bummed I've never had a dragon sneak up on me.
I generally notice them while they're circling and have more than enough time to prepare to mee tthem face to face. . . I would love, just once, to just be cruising down a path and suddenly, "Ah crap I'm fire!" picked up and carried off, or something.
For intelligent creaturesa, these dragons have little by way of guile.

Oddly enough, this just happened to me. I was out in the middle of bumble [censored] nowhere, it had just turned to night, ( I try not to travel at night for RP purposes, and was looking for a place to set up "camp") and an "enemy blip" shot across my compass. That was "scary" enough because I hadn't seen anything in front of me. Before I had a chance to think, it had landed behind me and set me on fire. Nearly soiled my pants. And because I was caught unaware, it turned out to be the most challenging dragon fight yet.
