done with random dragons.

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 10:30 am

there is no way I am going to do the MQ just because I am fricking tired of random dragon spawn. they are like rats.

I have killed so many, I have lost count. and they never spawn at a scary time just inconvenient.

and AND they spawn too many time in the same place. seriously, after my 3rd dragon kill in riverwood, you think the lesser dragons would STAY AWAY. do you go where your friends got murdered? I can see an elder showing up to riverwood because they were ticked at our murder of their fellow dragons.

DONE!

I am going to go download the "no random dragon spawn" mod. right now.

Can we share please? The only Dragons I meet are the ones near the word walls.

I never get any random Dragon, that's pretty boring too... :(

It seems that the more you fast travel, the more likely dragons pop up. So if youre fast traveling a lot then try to do it the ol'fashoined way and see if that works any better for you.

They are linked to FTing. Like someone said earlier, don't fast travel to locations that are close to you and that might help out some.

I wish you could set spawn rate. the mod I looked at seems to not work for many people so I am gonna wait til I hear back it works.

I lost my cool when I was about to head out to end ulfric....and a dragon shows up. if that never happened, or was hard, then that would be awesome.

the hardest part? not ripping my computer out of the wall because mr. elder dragon won't come the FFFF down so I can murder him. fly fly fly fly fly fly FAR fly fly fly. I don't have dragonrend yet.

I was thinking about doing more MQ (I am half done) but seriously, this is JUST LIKE the oblivion gates.

my suggestion? don't trigger the first dragon in whiterun UNTIL you want open season on dragon bones. etc. when you have more than god, do only MQ til you are done.

In my 10 hours I've killed 10 dragons total, 5 of them were random spawns.

Guess I don't have the same problem as you

Of course every time I enter a town it seems like a band of thugs is after me (Normally a whiterun guard sent them)

I've killed 28 and I'm level 25. Now that I got a achievement I just run from them. When I need to make some quick cash I kill and get the bones and scales

Cheers

It will probably come out with the construction kit. But I've only met 6 dragons, 40 hours, level 23 and deliberately sought out the sixth one from a distance.

I wonder if the spawn ratio increases vs progression in main quest thread or something similar

I'm just bummed I've never had a dragon sneak up on me.
I generally notice them while they're circling and have more than enough time to prepare to mee tthem face to face. . . I would love, just once, to just be cruising down a path and suddenly, "Ah crap I'm fire!" picked up and carried off, or something.
For intelligent creaturesa, these dragons have little by way of guile.

What the F?

I don't fast travel simply because I WANT random encounters, including Dragons. As a result I never fast travel, and as a result of that I don't get random dragons? Lovely...

I have fast traveled between Whiterun and Markarth dozens of times as well as manually traveled everywhere inbetween and ive still only come across 2 or 3 random dragons, I wouldn't mind them showing up a little more but they seem to be the perfect consistency so that when they do show it's exciting but not so rare i can't get any shouts.
I haven't done the main quest though so maybe thats why?
EDIT: I've fought the first MQ dragon but haven't been to the Greybeards yet, so i dont think the first dragon causes tons more to appear

I'm pretty sure its related to the main quest. With my level 31 character, he finished the MQ first and he has around 15 dragon souls just lying around while my level 21 character has only done enough of the main quest to get Fus Ro Dah and he doesn't have any extra souls.

From my observations it seems that certain areas have trigger events scripted, one of the outcomes seems to be a dragon spawn (obv after the MQ has progressed far enough). This would also explain why those using fast travel would see more as they could be loading into such areas on a more frequent basis thus getting more chances at a random one showing up.

Thats the basis of my argument, If you are more likely to fast travel, you are more likely to advance the main quest. Its not the fast travel that increases dragon attacks, but advancement in the main quest. You may fast travel but avoid main quest and get low dragon random attacks.

Just a theory thou.

That's freaking scary I must tell you, I've been surprised so many times by dragons, but mostly the awesome music warns me right before they strike^^

And since people are saying that they appear more often while Fast traveling I will cut that, not because I don't like fighting dragons, but because I don't want to get bored of it, like several others has.

I am level 26, done some of MQ but not half yet, and have had about 10 random dragons. The problem I am having, is that the dragons are never interested in ME! They are always busy fighting Giants, Bandits, Sabre Cats, and Guards. Even after I start attacking them they will not notice me until every last NPC/MOB in the area has been killed. I chased after one dragon for over 30 minutes, firing Fireballs at it, and occassionally hitting it. It ignored me, then got its skull crushed by one blow from a Giant. I was like, 'what the hell, I am Dovahkain, come fight me!' So now I just ignore dragons, and only once has a random dragon dropped out of the sky right on top of me and attacked, THAT WAS FUN!

They aren't linked to FTing. I did a decent deal of FTing on my level 40 char and I only killed about 20 dragons on him. Don't worry.

The mod will only affect new random dragons from spawning. There are likely some spawned already in areas you have not visited that will still show up.

first off, what difficulties are you guys playing in? I have a good and tough time fighting dragons on master difficulty with a level of 15 or so. I find them to be frequent by amazingly fun. It throws me off from my otherwise completely planned out game. I may have brought a certain number of potions and items etc to explore a dungeon or complete a quest, two simultaneous dragons later, I'm using the last of my magicka to heal me (I am in no ways a mage and this is really me getting desperate).

I find it fun that something can change my perspective on the game and on things that I thought I knew so rapidly. It really makes me think about how much gear i bring with me and how long i can go without needing a restock.

I suggest the same thing that I suggest when someone gets bored with a game, play it at a harder difficulty.
