Done With This

....for the time being.

Honestly, what is this? I constantly get deathclaw attacks and they are so devastating that my vault can barely recover. I have been playing on iOS since they released the app. Vault of 90 dwellers. Didn't bother to buy lunchboxes and the ones I received in-game didn't really give me any legendary characters. What I did do, foolishly, was shell out real money for a Mr. Handy. Which will inevitably be a waste now because this vault is surely done for considering I have deathclaws tearing through my vault. Floor upon floor. Have only been able to take out one of them. Dozens of dead dwellers. I just gave up and shut off the game with the deathclaws still running amok. This was something I played around with in my free-time. It isn't worth the aggravation.

Are deathclaw attacks really meant to be this devastating, or am I doing something wrong? I survive everything else easily. I have my dwellers decently equipped. No legendary weapons, but still.

If I start a new vault, what do I do short of buying lunchboxes? I think this months old vault is done for.

Reading these comments really quells my drive to continue with this game. Oh, but it looks so fun!

I'd definitely start a new vault. I can't really provide much, as I failed to even maintain my dwellers' happiness. I really believe it's a glitch though - seemingly, it's simple to maintain their happiness.

I'd like to think that you're experiencing a glitch as well. That doesn't seem right, to have an immense, successful vault of 90 dwellers get dispatched so easily. Probably a glitch, I'd start a new vault.

It was very simple for me to maintain theirs until I started getting these overpowered deathclaws in my vault. All the dwellers that ended up dying and I revived had about 0% happiness. This brought the average happiness of my vault down to ~ 68% or so.

I went from having a consistently full supply of power and food to just barely above the threshold I need to be my vault going, on top of it, attacks now drain your caps, too! So now I have to wait to revive the dozens or so dwellers who died during a deathclaw attack.

I loaded back up and managed to dispatch the last two deathclaws. Somehow, I'll find a way to keep this vault going because I wasted so much time and did buy a Mr. Handy. I don't plan to do so again. I will probably check in once a day just to collect from production rooms until they *hopefully* fix this.

However, I'm sure I'll still get hit with a deathclaw attack in the minute or two I'll be in there. It's gotten ridiculous.

Seems the generic answer is to expand and upgrade slower. My first two vaults were disasters. My third one is going strong. Ensure that you have ample resources before upgrading anything. Make sure your dwellers are leveled a bit and have good weapons before upgrading rooms.

Slow and steady wins the race.

Don't mess with the time on your device or you will probably mess things up further (see all the posts about four digit rush times and dwellers not finding anything while roaming the wastes).

What it boils down to is Bethesda wants you to be so devastated that you turn to buying Lunchboxes. I gladly did because I enjoyed the game immensely and so by the time deathclaws hit I could take them out with ease using 3 Fatmans, 3 Missile Launchers and 3 Gatling Lasers. All this happiness for me ended about a week ago though once I randomly got the loading crash bug of death. All my money and hard work was Nuked in one single incident of a load screen bug! Imagine playing Fallout and collecting all these weapons and Power armors only to have it taken away from you in the blink of an eye. Very disheartening to say the least and the worse part about it is Bethesda will still not address this issue with the fans that support their company (sigh). Sad.

This is why I'll be waiting to play this once they completely fix all the bug crashes in this game. If they don't then so long Fallout Shelter!

I haven't spent a dime on this game and I am not having any of the problems people describe here now that I am not rushing development. I get lunchboxes (probably somewhere in the 15-20 range) from completing objectives and have found Legendary dwellers and equipment. This vault is about a month old and has 200 dwellers and averages 93% happiness.

I learned that early on. I have been playing since the iOS version was released. This is my first ever vault from day 1 and I am only at 90 dwellers. I have been going slowly. Before all these deathclaw attacks happened, I had all my power, food and water basically maxed out. So, there was room for expansion. But I wanted to wait a little longer still before hitting 100 dwellers.

Since the deathclaws, I am barely above the threshold needed for enough power, water and food because their attacks take away so much by the time I manage to kill them! I am not going to buy lunchboxes. Ever. Mainly because if something does go wrong, you're [censored] out of luck and they do not carry over. I still regret just buying that one Mr. Handy. More so now with this vault on the edge of collapse.

It's really annoying because like I said, I've been working on this vault since day 1. Every lunch box I open just gives me the standard crap; never gotten anything legendary etc from a lunchbox.

Curious what you are using to play? I'm on a 5s. Have you updated to latest ios? I did. Do you crash at all during gameplay? I did once I reached 150 dwellers and anything above 25 dwellers exploring also caused crashes frequently.

I averaged 99% happiness and was just about done collecting all weapons/outfits when I got it. I hope for your sake you somehow have Luck of 20 and avoid this mess of the crash bug because to see it go is painful.

Also Thalyn69's post of getting crap in every lunchbox is the truth no matter how much you want to stand up for this game. After week 1 and a half I received mostly junk with a Legendary weapon maybe twice in 3 weeks of hundreds of hours of gameplay throughout 4 and a half weeks.

Good luck, you will need it!

I really haven't had problems with Death Claws other than that they are tough. I do follow the DCs around healing the dwellers and I have my most powerful weapons closest to the door...

I have a iPhone 5 still running 7.0.6 (sue me, I've been lazy with upgrading  ) and haven't had a single crash. I generally have no more than 5 dwellers exploring.

And as far as lunchboxes and the quality of items, random is random... :D

I have my most leveled up dwellers at the vault door (and a few rooms after) well-equipped in terms of armour and weapons. The best I have goes towards the front of the vault and the rooms nearby. It truly has not made much difference.

I have been doing all of these things.

Thanks for your contribution to this discussion. If you've got the time and patience people this seems like you may be able to manage a vault without the crash bug adhering to this strict regiment. Additionally if you are like me and have already updated your iOS, too bad for you! :shakehead:

Random quality in lunchboxes? Now that's funny!
