Dont MODS just ruin the game?

Post » Thu Sep 29, 2011 5:28 pm

Try it before you deny it. We of the Mod will still be playing Skyrim long after it has been collecting dust your shelf..

I'm playing vanilla and i'll be playing just as long as you, if not more.

I think it should be okay if someone doesn't care for modding. Why do people get so offended- now the thread's gonna be closed simply because people consider it 'trolling' because someone doesn't agree with pro mods.

Not every mod is a god mod. In fact you can do that with console commands and no mods at all. The majority of mods add new armors, texture enhancing packs, towns/cities, quests, new worlds, etc.

LOL, mods make the game SO much better. There are some mods that you simply can't play without.

I'd like to add that I play the game through at least once before adding mods. Unless of course, it's an appearance mod, because my character has to be pretty. But, since Skyrim has so many new and different appearance options for the character creation, I probably won't have to add any appearance mods the first time through.

Some mods add to the game and some take away from it.

Yes, some mods are pathetic and just useless, some made for children to use (God Mode/Endless amount of money/teleport over the challenging parts)

Welcome to the wondrous world of mods! Actually, all the most popular mods aren't "god mods" at all. Some do change gameplay mechanics, but just for balancing. I, for one, didn't like the rate in which you leveled up in Oblivion: way to fast. So I downloaded a gameplay mod that balances that out.

Morrowind is a ten year old game, but can still look like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSZwQoR4im4. (the jumping and flying isn't part of the mod, it's just to show the graphics.)

BTW, you've opened up a whole new can of worms.

People are arrogantly religious about their mods. So much so, that they take deathly offense to anyone who doesn't like/care for modding. Sad really.

Tell me about it! ppl getting angry when im just posting my opinion at the same time seeking knowledge .....honestly i have no clue how to do those things in the vids, but i am intrigued

No. Some have the potential to, but saying mods in general do any one thing is a gross generalization. It's a creative medium. Just like music, film, and literature, there are bound to be different ...flavors and quality standards. Some might not be your favorite flavor or won't be of the quality you desire while others, more than likely, will be right up your alley and be every bit as good as the official game.

If all zips are zaps, that is not to say all zaps are necessarily zips... All game ruining mods are mods, but not all mods are game ruining.

I will agree, mods are very useful and the community that works on them is awesome.

In fact the construction set makes TES games basically near infinitely re-playable.

You moron, mods can completely enhance the experience for you, and how is it cheating? So how about you shut your mouth and consider your words before making a fool of yourself, alright? Lovely.

I agree. No mod or mod user is "pathetic"
If they think it can improve their experience because they like cheating, why not? It's their experience and they have the right to "enhance" (or not) their game the way they want and it may be as good for them as for us. Of course they also can be wrong and ruin their pleasure but eh, that's the risk (and their problem).

To the OP: Mods are amazing: there are dungeon mods, there are mods who correct the whole experience, making it more immersive, balances and interesting (OOO is awesome), quest mod (some very original and makes you think a lot), there are mods which adds guild... In general anyone can make a mod to balance the game (I made my own mod to correct the bow in oblivion, It takes you 10 minutes and it's really easy) there are mods who correct all bugs bethesda will not...
Mods are awesome.
Oh and there unbalanced mods, naked mods, Japanese cosplay mods, overpowered weapons mods... I don't see what's wrong with that as long as each person can choose.

I've never used a mod that does that. Those mods aren't very popular.

And frankly, abusing the duplication glitch is just as pathetic. So I don't know what kind of point you were going for there, but as far as I'm concerned you failed.

Mods are great because they add the things that you want it to have. You don't want god mods or cheat mods? Don't get them. I sure didn't.

I'm not sure whether this is a troll thread either.

But if genuine then I really suggest more research, I've seen a number of threads like this and for the most part they've not had a clue what they are talking about.

Mods are a "choice"; there are things such as visual enhancement mods, and there are cheat mods, you "choose" which you want to use, after all, there are 100s of thousands to choose from, it's "your" game, as it's "my" game, what I do to mine does not affect yours.

OK so ive played TES on xbox and ps3 so ive never been blessed w the opportunity to experience the masterpiece on pc. from what ive read it seems mods are basically inputting god mode and you can do whatever you want to the point that its not even the game you bought anymore.

im a big fan of the duplication glitch RIP (dam you, patch!) so i do enjoy bending rules, but some of the things i hear about mods..... well its pathetic. ex, someone spoke on a mod to teleport so as to avoid all danger within a dungeon and complete a task.....Whats so fun about that??! IDK maybe some of you can explain to me why mods are great(SUPPOSEDLY)

Wow, I've rarely seen so much ignorance and bitterness in so few words.

Mods aren't about cheating. Its about making the experience better for you, and that usually means better graphics, more quests, more content and more gameplay. Yes, it can also mean making the game easier (or more challenging!) depending on what you choose to use but that's the whole point: freedom to diverge from what was originally intended.

Experienced players tend to use mods to -increase- difficulty overall, not lower it, this being said. I'm not sure what made you believe otherwise.

When you buy a game it's your's to do with as you want.

With that said.

I like to play the game the way the developers intended it. Mods are like graffiti, worthless unless you can find somebody else's property (in this case intellectual property) to vandalize.

But then you'll find people who are moderately fair about their opinions and will openly discuss them with you. That's a rarity in the "modder's world"

Well when people say MODS RUIN THE GAME WHAT A BUNCH OF PATHETIC LOSERS MODDERS ARE it will tend to make people upset.
