I have some wierd things going on with my laptop. Getting a MS.NET framework unhandled exception.....

I was going to start with a "system restore" to about 4 or 5 days ago, BUT I don't want to lose ANY of my Crysis 2 files.

Will a system restore potentially harm my C2 game.

I have a Steam account (which is acting funny now...saying i am always offline) and the C2 Max edition.

Even if I lose Steam, I have an account right, I should just be able to log back in. I will copy my key just in case....but there are files on my computer from c2...?


If the sys restore don't work, I may have to do an Alienware Respawn or wipe hard drive and clean OS install....

How do I back up my Crysis 2 Max edition...or do i even need to....???

Yes, you need to back up, but it is easy to do.

The game itself can always be redownloaded from steam if need be, but you don't want to risk losing your campaign progress and user profiles. Everything is saved under C:\Users\\Saved Games\Crysis2. Backup that folder.

For multiplayer, the only files required for a successful reinstall is the contents of C:\Users\\Saved Games\Crysis2\profiles.

You can simply restore your backed up files at any time and restart the game wherever it was when you last played.

AFAIK a the Windows utility "System Restore" won't harm your Crysis 2 install, but better safe than sorry. Do as CH4NCE advises.

...It shouldn't mess with anything the user "documents" subfolders, you are right. I figured I would clarify, but I could have been more clear I have a feeling that a system restore alone may not cure this user's woes.
