I dont want the DLC objectives when I'm just starting. What

Post » Sat May 14, 2011 5:17 am

Hey. I just bought the game of the year addition (I know, pretty late to the game), and when I'm just starting out Im immediately hit with the 9 or 10 objectives that come with the DLC's. I do not like the prospect of having these objectives sitting in my menu for the 100 plus hours I might play before I'm ready to try out the DLC's. What do I do?

Seriously, for every objective I have to sift out the DLC objectives. I've been playing for an hour and I'm already losing my mind. I'd really appreciate some help.

Thx,

If you are on the PC, http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11474 will do just that.

If you are on 360, you'll have to live with it.

Otherwise, just ignore them. There is no penalty for dealing with the DLC's whenever you want to.

I don't care for having KOTN active unless/until I'm ready to do the questline for it. So, I have it installed, but simply not activated. If and when I'm ready, I activate it. Alternatively I suppose, you could simply not install the DLCs until you are ready for them? I know all this works fine on my PC. I'm not sure how this might translate to PS3/Xbox.

...Unless you consider the wreckage of the chapel in Anvil to be a penalty...

The only place in the game to buy restore luck and personality, some people don't want to join the Mage's Guild or buy Frostcrag to make their own.

This is severe enough for me (and not to mention good training to be had there) that I do not load KOTN until I've gotten what I needed out of the mages there.

Seconded. There's some events that... "pollute" the gameworld for me and some of my characters, so I'll either leave some DLC unchecked until I want to play them, or avoid certain triggers (such as pursuing the MQ and having Gates pop up all over).

I feel bad for console players. Is there really no convenient way to deactivate addons? That's rough.

Don't feel bad. We get surround sound and big HDTVs and don't have to sit at a desk. Not to mention the console version seems more stable. I know its possible to get surround sound on pc, but I don't know many with that set up.

I got both versions, though. But unless I want to run user mods, I'll just play on the xbox.

PC users don't have to sit at a desk either (I don't). My 2560x1600 monitor is much higher resolution than HDTV. And I live in a household with four other gamers (and one person who likes to watch TV a lot) so none of us have the option to listen to our games on surround sound speakers. We all use headphones - and this would be the case whether we all played on console or on computer.

All households are different. There is no "we" and "you."

If you have the goty edition you can simply uninstall the second disk. If you actually spent points on DLC then you can also uninstall those from your hardrive. Don't worry, you can download anything you've already purchased a second time for free.

That′s because you haven′t been to my place

About DLC:s, I wanted SI but not KOTN but that was installed simultaneously without me being able to deselect it. Therefore even though I have it unchecked, Anvil is still not the same anymore

This is one of the few things I actually dislike in the PS3 version. There is no option to deactivate KOTN and Anvil is forever changed from the beginning of the game... I don't mind about Shivering Isles, though, because it doesn't change anything, just adds a new place in the world.

Yep, I have surround sound for my PC, have for almost ten years now I think. It is not at all difficult.

I have all the DLCs, but I keep all of them deactivated except for Shivering Isles, because I found it replaces some of the vanilla meshes http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/oblivion/Oblivion153.jpg
