DOOM guy is the most powerful human.

What do you mean by Augmented then? Super-human strength?
If that's the case Lord of Redwall, then no video game character can be considered human based on the amount of ammo they carry. :)
You'll get no arguments from me there.
Also, uh, when was Hell toxic? Only the radioactive waste and lava, and acid, and other stuff is hazardous to his health.
Hell by itself assaults the mind more than the body. (Okay, that's kind of deep. Philosophical even.) So, maybe the Doomguy is resistant to psychic attacks?
Putting asside the lore set down by Doom3, it's been comonly accepted that Hell has a toxic atmosphere, heavy on the sulfates, carbon monoxides and other heavy gases not exactly good fo Human beings.

Also, daemons? I don't know what the doom demons have to do with Unix. :)
Don't mind it please, that's simply the way I type.

Eye of Terror =/= Hell in Doom.

Humans (or anything not corrupted to Chaos) can't survive in 40K's version of hell unprotected for all but the smallest period of time- their bodies will mutate, go insane, etc. Doomguy, as he clearly survived his mutliple encounters with hell, meant that the Hell he was stepping into wasn't the Warp, meaning that he's not "superior" to the WH40K Marines.

And this discussion is about HUMANS IN VIDEO GAMES. Space Marines are human (barely so, but it still counts.) Warhammer 40K has released video game titles, so their universe is perfectly valid for this discussion. If WH40K was a strictly table-top game (with no releases in the Video Game industry) then I would've left it out, and suggest that maybe Master Chief or Samus Aran as the most powerful human.

I don't think that's a fair assumption, after all, there are races that do not show up on the warp for whatever reason, like the Tau, for example. So it's entirely possible that Doomguy is just not warp sensitive, making him immune to the corruptive power of the warp. He would have this power not from the massive augmentations characteristic of Imperial Space Marines, but from pure badassery concentrated in his form.

Only the Tau do not show up in the warp- but almost all humans do. There is the rare exception of the Souless, but Doomguy may not be qualified for it.

The Soulless (as their name implies) lack souls- they they are invisible to Demons. Not to mention they make an aura of "Umm... you're kinda creepy" around them, and tend to null psionic abilties in their immedate vicinity. We don't know a thing about Doomguy before hell breached Mars, so we don't know if he scares anyone off... and as the Imps are capable of launching fireballs at him, he either doesn't have a null-psionic field around him, or the Imp's fireballs are made of... something else. And the demons of Hell can see him, so he can't really be considered "soulless."

Now, there is the rare exception to this rule, either by a mutated genome or some yet-unheard of psychic power. However, there's no indication of Psionic use in the Doom universe... And Doom's Demons, for all we know, may be using an entirely different ruleset than WH40K's Daemons.

And finally, unless "Hell" was the name for a Daemon world within the Warp, it can't be considered the "Warp" since it's mostly static and obeys most rules of physics- something the pure warp does not do. Now, Hell in Doom 3, on the other hand...

Like I said, it doesn't take into account Doomguy's pure badassness. And this would predate the events of 40k by tens of thousands of years. It might have been an event where the materium and immaterium intersected in a way that hadn't happened again since (because Doomguy kicked their asses so bad)

And the tau are the only major race but there might be other lesser races that do not show up. And remember, new races are just a keystroke away from existence or nonexistence, at any time. Do you remember the squats? I don't. Nope, no such thing as squats. Never existed.

Squats sounds like a medical problem. Is that the intent?

Actually, the Squats were purposely removed because it's belived that they didn't mesh well in 40K (i.e. WE DON'T WANT 40K TO BE WARHAMMER IN SPACE!) They were retconned out of existance, with something along the lines of "Yeah, they existed for a few milennia after the Great Crusate but then they got eaten by Tyranids."

Again, we can't really compare Hell in Doom with the Warp- there are areas where Doomguy is specifically sent to hell (which should cause him to immedately go insane/explode/join up with the baddies.) If none of those apply, then by 40K's rules, he shouldn't be seen by Demons. But that's not the case, since Imps, Pinkys, Cacodemons, etc. all see him and try to attack him.

Yes, we cannot compare Warhammer 40K to Doom. In fact, since this topic is about Doom, let's leave Warhammer 40K far away from this topic now. Please? I want to talk about something that I know about. :)

Also, according to the lore of the original two Doom games, Hell shouldn't make the Doomguy go insane/explode/whatever.
He didn't gaze upon Cthulu, and he didn't step into a vacuum, or get telefragged. :)

Putting asside the lore set down by Doom3, it's been comonly accepted that Hell has a toxic atmosphere, heavy on the sulfates, carbon monoxides and other heavy gases not exactly good fo Human beings.

Er, I'm talking about the first two Doom. IF Doom 3 messed up Hell, that's not my fault. :)
And Hell has a lot of sulfur, yes, but not Carbon monoxide.

Yeah, Doomguy is awesome. Nuff said, topic over, I won. A joke, a joke!

Also, seriously, a null-psi field? I think I have one of those. :)

I think I may need some intervention. Every time I come in here and see this topic title, all I can think is "Doom guy, Doom Guy, Whatcha gonna do? Watcha gonna do when they come for you?"

I keep getting my anolyst's voice mail and he's not responding to my messages. :violin:

Uh, Maybe you should give me money, Yasgur? I bet that will help you out. :)

Seriously though, how long has it been since you played the original doom?

A couple of days. I've got Doom, Doom 2, Final Doom, a Heretic and a couple of Hexens set to run under ZDoom. I also play Wolfenstein 3D, Quakes 1 & 2 and Commander Keen on a pretty regular basis.

:whisper: I bought the id package on Steam a year or two ago.

DOOMGUY is the strongest video game character ever.
