DOOM guy is the most powerful human.

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:32 am

Basically, DOOM 1 was "Holy crap we're invaded!" then everyone dies except you. Since you can't fly the shuttle back to Earth, you decide to try and clear the base.

You kinda do, except you get ambushed and die. Because the base on Deimos is actually part of hell now, that's where you respawn, in hell. You clear out THAT base and it's new commander and actually go out to the outer levels of old school hell. And then again, you clear THAT out, and kill the guy leading the invasion on Mars. The guy leading Hell basically gives you a teleporter back to Earth so you'll stop messing stuff up. THAT'S RIGHT, HELL BROUGHT YOU BACK TO LIFE BECAUSE YOU KICKED IT'S ASS.

Then you teleport back to Earth, and OMG IT'S OVERRUN TOO. Apparently you meet the last few survivors and get them onto a ship so they can get out of Dodge. The problem is, base where the launch button is located? Overrun by demons.

You clear THOSE demons out, launch the ship and save humanity. Holy smokes, doomguy you're such a stone cold badass! Because you're so tired from destroying countless demons, you decide to lay down. Then some commander comes up to you and says "Hey thanks for saving humanity and stuff. We found out where the demons are coming from though, your hometown." So you get back up.

THEN you fight your way through your hometown and find where the demons are coming from. Do you go through the portal? Hell yeah you do.

There's more demons, so you fight your way through the SERIOUS part of hell, and then kill SATAN. Unless Plutonia/TnT is considered canon. Then it's just some bigass guy who is like Satan's best friend or something.

And that is why Doomguy is the single most powerful human in the history of video games. Even JRPG/WoW players need a whole bunch of people to take down a powerful monster. But apparently Doom guy did it by himself, without magic or friends.

Another fun fact about Doom guy:
His maximum run speed is 819.52 map units / second.
Approximately 32 is equal to one meter (based on Doom guy's height in terms of map units.)
Therefore he runs about 25.61 meters per second, that is equal to about 57.2879 MPH.

The current record for the 100 meter dash is 9.69 seconds and held by Usain Bolt. The Doomguy can run this in about 3.905 seconds, nearly 148% than Usain Bolt.

The DOOMGUY is capable of outrunning a Lion, and maintaining that speed. Keep in mind that he can do this in all probability, 200 pounds of equipment.

DOOMGUY is the strongest video game character ever.

Eh.. not quite. Strongest HUMAN videogame character... probably. Remember, you forgot the http://wall.alphacoders.com/images/534/5348.jpg, though. The guy carries even more equipment.. and moves around about as fast. The thing is, most people think the guy's a cyborg. Doomguy is probably one, too.

I always thought that when they said the Doomguy was a Space Marine, they meant, well... a superhuman one. He can outrun pinkies, man.

I can't get that pic to load, Defaulted.

Also, I wondered how fast the Doomguy was, It's news to me that he's that fast.

I don't believe you actually die at the end of Episode 1. The game stops it before you die. :)

Also, yeah, he's super humanly strong to carry all that stuff, especially in Hell, which has Earth normal gravity.

Pinkies nothing, the Doom Marine can out run arch-viles! The Cyberdemon was the fastest monster in Doom 1 ( I am not joking either. The Cyberdemon is that fast!), and the Arch-vile is somewhat faster, but the Doom Marine is even faster.

Set Turbo to 200 and you can out run your own rockets!

Also, the Icon of Sin isn't Satan. There's no actually proof in the Doom canon that it's the Devil himself.
That's all I can say here. PM me if interested.

Also, no, the Doom Marine is just more powerful than the Lone Wanderer. :) He's fully human. He's not the Bionic man, after all.
Then again, can we really attribute human traits to the Doom Marine? Other than Duke Nukem is probably his father/grandfather. :)

The most powerful human in gaming history?

Barring Demigods (such as Kratos from God of War) it would be your garden-variety Space Marine from Warhammer 40k.

http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Creation_of_a_Space_Marine

That's what they do to them. If you don't want to read it, here's a basic breakdown:

Secondary Heart.
Ceramics-laced Skeleton with their ribcage becoming bulletproof.
Increased muscle growth than your average human.
Blood is more effecient at carrying Oxygen.
Near-instant wound healing.
Can go without sleep for 2 weeks, and only needs to sleep for 4 hours per day.
"Secondary Stomach" that filters out toxins.
Basically... "Learn by Eating"- if they eat an opponent, they gain their memories or experences.
Multi-Lung- Allows them to breathe in almost all environments (including water!)
Can see in low-light as if it were normal daylight.
Immune to dizziness/motion sickness, and can pick up or filter out certain sounds.
Can go into a hibernation state if severely wounded- longest hibernation (who was revived) was 567 years.
Immunity to most poisons.
Can tell what a chemical is... by tasting it.
Can survive in a pure Vacuum for a time.
Can spit venom- they're immune to their own venom and the venom can eat through most metals.
A implant that connects them directly to their power armor.

Also, you need to consider that their power armor makes Master Chief's look like a Medieval suit of armor, and that their basic weaponry fire self-propellled explosive tipped bullets the size of your fist.

Again, barring Demigods, I don't think there's any Video Game protagonists that are stronger...

It could be that Doomguy is an early-model WH40K space marine sans armor.

It's the only thing that'd make sense, only now we know we must initiate Exterminatus on Mars.

Space Marines are barely human anymore, they never beat Hell because, lets face it, they can't even get into the Eye of Terror, and compared to the feats that Doomguy, a SINGLE human does, they're nothing.

Also, comparing 40K to anything is a load of crap, because, once again, lets face it, the universe its intentionally ratcheted up to retarded levels of power. Just about the only thing that could really beat their universe is The Culture or Cthulu.

Eye of Terror =/= Hell in Doom.

Humans (or anything not corrupted to Chaos) can't survive in 40K's version of hell unprotected for all but the smallest period of time- their bodies will mutate, go insane, etc. Doomguy, as he clearly survived his mutliple encounters with hell, meant that the Hell he was stepping into wasn't the Warp, meaning that he's not "superior" to the WH40K Marines.

And this discussion is about HUMANS IN VIDEO GAMES. Space Marines are human (barely so, but it still counts.) Warhammer 40K has released video game titles, so their universe is perfectly valid for this discussion. If WH40K was a strictly table-top game (with no releases in the Video Game industry) then I would've left it out, and suggest that maybe Master Chief or Samus Aran as the most powerful human.

The most powerful human isn't the doomguy, or any video game character, or any fictional character. It is the person who controls the game character. That means the player is the most powerful character. But we aren't really powerful. Does this mean some outside player controls us?

Now we're getting into meta-game territory... I don't think this discussion covers that. If we're going by most powerful human of all time, I'd be saying Alexander the Great. Remember, he single-handedly conqured most of the known world at that time. That's not something to sneeze at- I don't think any other person in history managed to pull a feat like that, at least not until modern times, and even then, those people responsible stayed in their Capitol, not riding with their army.

But this is getting away from the discussion- I still say a WH40K Space Marine is the most powerful human in Video games (of course, I could see Doomguy easily being picked up by one of their Chapters for training, I don't think most of their raw recruits display the abilities of Doomguy...)

I think everyone is getting ahead of themselves. The most powerful character would have to be The Juggernaut. Nothing can hurt him, unless you take his helmet off... if you dare to get that close to him.

I know he's a Marvel Disney character.. but he's been in plenty of games before.

I don't know why Warhammer 40K has to be brought up.

Doomguy is Doomguy.

Plus, I don't care about Warhammer 40K.
Doesn't interest me in the least.

But going with full, non augmented humans, The Doomguy is up there.

Ali, what does Superman have to do with this thread?
He'd still be able to beat up the Doom marine. :) And the Space Marines from Warhammer 40K, and everything in every game ever made that does not have magic based weapons or Kryptonite.

Oh, and he would so be able to beat the Juggernaut.

"Most Powerful" is extremely subjective. Your mileage may vary.

Even "Most Powerful Human", he's nowhere near the top. Any Jedi or Superhero type character is stronger according to the most strict definitions of "strength" and feats.

However, what he IS is a one man wrecking crew who killed thousands of monsters all by himself.

Which is, to be honest, unrealistic but entertaining as hell.

I actually hope he's more of a human in Doom 4. I'd like to see a Doom game with more of a squad based, traditional military campaign against the Demons.

Ok, we're getting nowhere... we need to agree on a list of rules for this first.

1. Can we allow augmented humans? (i.e. Master Chief, Space Marines, Mutants from Marvel Comics, Etc.)

2. Are human-esque aliens allowed (i.e. Superman, Dr. Who, Sayans from DBZ (yes they have DBZ fighting games))

3. is their equipment factored in, or are we doing knife-fight scenarios? (i.e., the difference between Doomguy with Chainsaw and Doomguy with BFG)

If we get these pinned down, it'll make judgement and who is/who is not allowed much easier.

I agree, we're getting nowhere fast.
And we don't need to talk about red text man, er, I mean, Superman. :)

I propose, we're combining the arsenal into the person. So, straight up, with their weapons, basically.
And no uber-humans allowed.
No augmented humans, or humanoid aliens.
And Doctor Who is not Physically strong by any stretch of the imagination. I could be wrong, but I never saw him juggle Daleks. :) Okay, so out of their armor, I could juggle them...or eat them. :)

At least, those are the rules I'm fine with. No offense, I just don't like Warhammer 40k, just doesn't appeal to me. I don't see the big deal.

Actually, that clears things up a lot.

Now, for another wrinke, what constitues an "Augmented" human? Genetic Engineering is obviously out (AKA Super Soldiers and mutants) but what about others? Does Magical ability count as Augmentation? How about Jedi and the Force (as one's ability with the force is directly related to their midichlorian count.)

Also, I threw out Dr. Who for argument's sake... he does have a higher intelligence than most people, so that could factor into strength... if you can't beat 'em, outwit them. And I know someone was bound to say it sooner or later...

I say we allow augmented humans, because I have my serious doubts that Doomguy is completely human if he can run that fast.

And if Doomguy gets the BFG, then... yeah, he's pretty much the most powerful creature in all of existence. Even superman would probably keep getting knocked back into the stratosphere and then say "Aw, screw it."

Actually, if we recall, the BFG couldn't kill the endboss in Doom 3...

That one's a load of crap and you know it. The simple reason was to justify the existence of the soul cube. But besides that, the Cyberdemon should NOT have been a final boss, especially considering that Doomguy kills several in Doom 1 & 2.

I think there's also a line that must be drawn. Augmented humans start getting ridiculous in certain universes, like Space Marines, which aren't really even human anymore (play any of the games, read any of the books, a majority of them either look down on humanity or they believe themselves the Emperor's divine watchers meant to protect humanity at all costs. The only sort of love they have anymore is between one another in their brotherhood). Humans like Master Chief don't even MATTER that they're augmented, since the Doomguy is far far far more powerful than he is, although their accomplishments are similar. As much as I love the Half Life series, even Gordon Freeman probably isn't as powerful, although we'll get to see just how insane his accomplishments are in future games (if he destroys the combine overworld, THEN he'll certainly be on Doomguy levels).

It seems to me that Doomguy could outperform most other heroes, although his accomplishments are comparible to other people's accomplishments, such as Master Chief defeating the covenant, destroying Halo, doing it again, and destroying the arc, or Gordon Freeman going into Xen alone and beating their overlord, then going into the OPPRESSION OBELISK OF DOOM and destroying it, and then going BACK IN later, and, as I said, probably soon to enter the Combine Overworld to stop them.

Well, all things considered, based on the (new) restrictions, i'm gonna go say that Samus Aran is probably the most powerful human.

Her record (so far):

Destroyed the Space Pirates main base on their home planet... twice.
Killed off practially all Metroids... and two of their Mother Brains.
Destroyed a space station to prevent a galactic parasitic outbreak. Barely survived that one.
Beat back 6 other bounty hunters plus an evil entity that could threaten the galaxy at large.
Stopped Phazon outbreaks on two seperate worlds.
Prevented further spread of Phazon by destroying the souce (a planet)... while infected with it, and suffering the negative effects of it.

Her only agumentation was a higher resistance to alien environments- no super-strength, super speed, etc. So she's got less augmentation, it seems, than Master Chief.
