The new doom looks badass, it looks like it's the style of the first one with the same kind of demons and stuff from Hell, but with newer graphics.


The graphics look fine to me, but I don't really care about graphics I just care about gameplay.

I enjoyed Nethack back in the day, mainly as it wasn't restricted to out-of-hours playing only like Rogue (this was on the college mainframe: I suspect it was the main reason the VT100-compatible terminals were so popular).

I do vaguely remember someone creating a first-person Roguelike using Doom 3's engine. That was quite a curious thing.

I'm skeptical, placing my bet that Shadow Warrior 2 will be shooter of the year.

Maybe it's because I grew up through all the eras of graphics (text -> 30x40 lo-res -> Apple II -> 16-color 160x100 CGA -> SNES -> etc etc etc) - and every single stage was Way Cool! ..... but I have issues with people looking at the frakin' amazing graphics that are standard nowadays and saying "doesn't look good at all".

(I mean, of course, if it's buggy and screwed up, then sure. But everything that's actually functional honestly all looks great to me. )

...of course, it also looks amazingly disgusting, so odds are I won't play it.

Really offensive to the devs OP, if you think some crappy mod looks better than this you must have dirt in your eyes. Anyone who knows there stuff can see the devs have worked really hard to create this game and trying to make it stand out from all the generic crap FPS we currently have on the market.

Also none of us can really comment on how it looks and plays as we haven't played it, we have only seen parts of 2 levels from E3 (from a 13 hour + campaign) along with minute long trailers that have different scenes spiced together.

I got a feeling this game is going to get rave reviews by the critics but the hardcoe pc players are not going to give it a break and never will.

With regards to far cry (I liked the original), well those games are [censored], just because it might look better to you nothing will hide the fact as to how boring those games are.

Totally agree with you man, to be critical is a good solution, but you can clearly tell a whole amount of love, passion and creativity has gone into this Doom and if anything, its already looking to represent a clear vision of the outstanding, unique, individuality that made DOOM the FPS giant it is.

Some people you can just never change, but I guess missing out on the best, true FPS game to come out for years (maybe even longer) means its their loss right man?

I completely agree, they need to move with the times as we all have to in life, having a narrow frame of mind will just mean those people will miss out on great gaming experiences.

I think with any medium, as we get older It naturally becomes harder for something to impress us, I feel some people just haven't excepted that is the way it is. Nothing will ever replace those feeling when we all first played doom, it was off the page for me but this new doom looks amazing compared to many other fps games released in the last 3-4 years and it's likely the best we will get.
