It is possible to become locked out of The Strip's main gate. The prerequisite actions may be taken, but the door will remain locked, requiring a key the player can only get from killing the Securitrons outside the gate. The best way to do this is to shoot one of the Securitrons from afar while hidden and to make sure to kill it with a critical (You will need a weapon with Damage higher or equal to 50 to do a one shot sneak critical). This way, the others will not attack and you are free to collect its gate key. If you happen to have the robotics expert perk you can also shut down all the Securitrons and kill one of the robots even though it says you shut it down. If using a PC, you can enter the console command to receive a key. Entering in the Strip from the monorail seems to unlock it. However, in some cases the soldiers outside the monorail may be hostile to the player no matter their reputation with the NCR, forcing the player to do the Securitron Method.
