DOVAHKIIN! DOVAHKIIN!

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 3:50 pm

Recently, I took it upon myself to learn the Skyrim theme. I'd long before learnt it in English, but Draconic was another hurdle.

And in 2 days and hundreds of listens, I succeeded. In other words,

DOVAHKIIN! DOVAHKIIN!
NAAL OK ZIN LOS VAHRIIN!
WAH DEIN! VOKUL! MAHFAERAAK AHST VAAL!
AHRK FIN NOROK PAAL GRAAN!
FOD NUST HON ZINDRO ZAAN!
DOVAHKIIN! FAH HIIN! KOGAAN MU DRAAL!

...all done from memory. I can sing it from memory easily, too.

So my question is - has anyone else memorised it, or am I just a total loser? XD

Within the first half of the song, the first time I listened to it, I had that whole baby down.

I may remember the vocals, but I'm not doing so well in spelling. Here is me trying to spell/memorize it:
Dovakiin, Dovakiin, naal ok zinb los vahriin. Wah dein, vokul, ahfarak ahst vaal. Ark fin norok paal graan, fod nust hon zindro zaan. Dovahkiin, fah hiin, kogaan mu draal...YA!

I memorized it pretty soon after the translation tools had been released. I still remember most of it, but I've forgotten a few parts.

Not joking :sadvaultboy: I don't really know how it happened, either. I think I realized one day that I knew most of it from repeatedly talking about it in the lore forum, and then just filled in the parts I didn't know and made sure I knew the order it all comes in. You can break the giant wall of text into a dozen smaller sections all centered around one idea, which makes it a lot easier to remember.

Not a loser man and well done. Losers are the type to translate their own name into Elvish. Oh wait...
