Dovahkiin Slays Dragon While I Play Unfitting Music

Post » Wed Aug 03, 2011 3:11 am

I added plenty of songs to OB's music folder throughout my time playing it, and when I say plenty I mean a whole [censored] load more than any sane person probably would. I plan on doing the same in Skyrim, so I thought I would make a thread to see if anyone else enjoys this as much as I do and I wanted to see what songs you might put in. (and to add to my own repertoire of course! :hubbahubba:)

Feel free to post in any format you would like, if you're posting any music at all, but I think I'm just going to post one song from each of the sub categories from the music folder.

I use a lot of unfitting music, hence the thread title, so don't be alarmed and tell me how much I fail because of it. I'm well aware of both of these facts.

Battle:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z74mTGUkHQo (I won't have all the moaning and groaning crap at the beginning in mine.)
Town: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTjmf68iYIg
Exploration: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLx08bpZpH4&feature=related
Dungeon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTp4d38cPtc
Special: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yY0Dz1xADoM (I wish I could implement this into all stores.)

A lot of what I want to use is completely unrelated video game music, but hell I just like listening to this old stuff more for the nostalgia factor.

lol + 1,

BUT I rocked out quite a bit of dubstep and other various forms of techno in my battle music for Oblivion :).

I feel for you, sir. I do. :cryvaultboy:

Nothing wrong with the default music though, I listen to OB's on my itunes.

snip

I plan on using Bianco Hills and Windy already. :hehe:

Well not Bianco Hills as battle, but I actually do use Windy in the same category for OB.

Edit: And actually I'm looking for music YOU want, not what I want.

I put this into the dungeon playlist for Oblivion, and never looked back. Not very "unfitting" though lol.

I'm playing it on console too. At first I will play with default music (if the trailer music was epic then the ingame music is epic too IMO like it was in Morrowind and Oblivion). Then when I've listened to the soundtrack too much, I could put in some Disturbed, Nickelback, Prodigy and more and more :intergalactic:

If I add any music it'll probably just be tracks from Morrowind and/or Oblivion. I'm assuming the default will be good though - I just hope there's more variety than there was in Oblivion.

I play mostly orchestrated stuff when playing games. I like music that captures the vibe of the game so I will usually play songs accordingly. Right now my "gaming playlist" consist of:
  • Clint Mansell - The Fountain, Moon (Clint has always been one of my favorite composers partially because of his work with post-rock band Mogwai)
  • John Murphy - Sunshine OST, 28 Weeks Later OST
  • Hanz Zimmer - Inception OST
  • Ramin Djawadi - Game of Thrones OST (Loved this OST I feel it will be very fitting in Skyrim)
  • Jeremy Soule - Morrowind OST
  • Joseph LoDuca - Spartacus OST
  • Martin O'Donnell - Halo: Reach OST (Its funny I never really cared for the Halo series but when they release a new game I check out the OST because it is always pretty good.)

I am always opened to recommendations as well. I need a huge playlist for Skyrim, so if you know of any similar artist or soundtracks you think I am missing please tell.

The soundtrack from Demon's souls is awesome:

It really helps that they only play during a boss fight or some cutscenes.

That particular song is a little too vocal for my taste. However I sampled some of the other songs and I will probably have to get this OST. Which reminds me.. soon I will finally play that damn game, I just got hired at gamestop and my sister has a ps3 that she never plays. OH YEAH.

You should definitely look at the english wiki for Demon's souls if you play it. The bosses drop souls that can be used to either get points for levelling up, or get new spells and miracles, but the spells and miracles won't be apparent at the beginning of the game. Some of them are essential for any character.

Actually, you can play your own music on either an Xbox or PS3. EPIC FAIL.

What I normally do is just play while listening to the radio. (At least, I used to do this. One station had two minute add breaks. Now, they don't)

Having said that though, the music coming out at the moment that is playing on those stations is incredibly repetitive and fully boring. There was a great deal of awesome music (e.g. Brother by Smashproof featuring Gin) that was really super to play in the games I was playing at the time.

I'll have Midnight Youth in there, and others. The others I can't actually remember right now. Basically all the songs were new and popular in 2009. (As that is all that radio station plays, and that was the best year for playing games to music)
