Hi, just a quick question. What race is the guy in the trailer? I thought he was an Imperial. Others say he is a Nord?

A Nord. But that doesn't mean the Dovakhiin always has to be. Just the version they're using for the trailer and promotional stuff.

In the past, Morrowind's icon was a Dunmer and Oblivion's icon was an Imperial. Based on that, I think it's safe to assume Skyrim's iconic figure is also of the native race to Skyrim's setting... which is Skyrim. Therefore, I strongly believe this figure is a Nord.

As the above post says past games use the race from the land the setting is taking place in. Skyrim is home of the nords so it is safe to assume that he is nord.

Wow, I don't really think theres a difference in looks between Nords and imperials. I wanna try and make an Imperial look like him. Think it's possible?

Should be. I believe Nords and Imperials decend from the same race. (Not a lore-buff but I think that's right) So they'll look similar. Nords are usually more musclular and taller though.

Tiber Septim was a Nord and probably the most popular Dragonborn.

And we see once again how wiki's can be wrong.

You mean the Elder Scrolls Wiki? That's just a jumbled mix of quotations from lore with some extra speculation and little in the way of proper anolysis or organisation.
I've seen no reason to believe that Imperials are favoured for being dragonborn, especially since Thu'um, the magic that is most likely what they are now calling "dragon shouts", is an ancient Nordic magic.

In OB, the white human races looked fairly similar, but Nords were always taller, usually paler, and often had more square and less rounded faces than Imperials.

I don't think the hair colour is exclusively fair.

Perhaps they got it wrong. :P What does Bethesda know about TES lore anyway.

I was really just being cheeky. Don't mind me, hehe. :)

Probably not. You can supposedly see a much bigger difference between races now in Skyrim. The character creation also has much less customizability.

Dovahkiin is a Nord. That's pretty safe to assume I think.

The Nerevarine wasn't a Dunmer either, to make it possible to play the Morrowind main quest even though one has chosen another race. I guess it'll be the same way in Skyrim: Dragonborn can be every race.

Do you have a source for that or is it mere speculation masquerading itself as fact? I always saw him as an Imperial in Nord clothing as I would expect Nords to be a bit more burly and have a stronger voice. But that being said its not like it really matters as I am sure everyone here will be making their own character.

Burlier? It's difficult to get much burlier than that guy.
Also, we've hardly heard his voice other than that one dragon-shout, which sounded pretty "strong" according to me.

Whats funny, is that the guy you hear doing the shout is the guy that wrote and created the dragon language. They are probably going to hire someone to do the voice though.
