Downloadable Content Ideas

After putting fifty-eight hours into Fallout 4 (and planning to put in many, many more), discovering two-hundred or so locations, levelling my character to fifty-three, and completing the game’s main story quest and most side quests, I, like many Fallout fans, am thinking of DLC. Perhaps it is a tad premature, but I have formulated some ideas that I think could be very exciting and enjoyable DLCs. Of course, these are only suggestions, but perhaps if enough of us want it Bethesda will listen.

#1 Those New Vegas Lights

I have fond memories of Fallout: New Vegas. It was the first Fallout game I played (I later played Fallout 3). The game was absolutely exquisite, with the setting being the main star. New Vegas was a glittering, sparkling, diamond-like place (step aside, Diamond City). This DLC would center on the Sole Survivor journeying to New Vegas to deal with a number of Gen-3 synths that have integrated into their society. Of course, this would involve lots of side quests on The Strip (and maybe Freeside), and the Sole Survivor would have to choose how to deal with these synth, many of whom have reached the upper echelons of Strip society (casino owners, gang leaders, etc). The area could include more of the Mojave, but just The Strip (if done well) would be enough for a single DLC. Think of The Strip remastered in Creation-Engine glory.

#2 A Deathclaw in Diamond City

After reaching level thirty, I had to punch the difficulty up to Hard, and then to Very Hard, to keep the Deathclaws challenging. The Sole Survivor becomes such a killing machine that even these hulking behemoths of radioactive death cease to trouble him/her. This DLC would introduce the Diamond Deathclaw. Mayor McDonough, in all his wisdom, has (in Jurassic World fashion) employed scientists to create a Diamond Deathclaw to celebrate Diamond City’s prominence in the Wasteland. This Deathclaw is covered in near-indestructible diamond, and can shoot projectiles of some description (spear-like diamonds?). The DLC would involve being under siege in Diamond City. When you try to fast travel, the message “Unable to Fast Travel from this Location when Enemies are nearby” would show. And if you venture out, the Deathclaw would mostly likely kill you. So, the Sole Survivor’s job is to go around Diamond City and try and get people to join in the war against the Deathclaw. This would involve convincing the vendors to arm the people, the doctor to give them Stimpaks, the chemist to give them Jet, Buffout, etc., and the rich to give up any toys they’re hording. You could even try and tranquilize the beast, perhaps tame it and have it as a companion. (To stop it from being overpowered the taming/tranquilizing process would involve injecting it with a serum that drastically reduces its lethality.) Once you have gathered enough support, you are ready for the Final Fight. Or, of course, you could just fight the thing alone…

Edit: "Hancock's Revenge" redundant.
