Downloaded update 1.9 but didn't fix problem

Post » Mon Jul 01, 2013 7:53 am

Finn's Lute, Pantea's Flute and Rjorn's Drum are all still stuck in my inventory saying they are quest items even tho I complete this quest months ago.

Also even tho it wasn't in the patch, Gallus's Encoded Journal is still stuck in my inventory as well for being a quest item, but I've already complete all the Blades' quests thru Alduin's Wall so it's no longer required.

Is there another fix for all these because they are taking up 11 pounds of weight and since I'm still kinda low level that's a lot of weight for my character.

Thanks

officially there is no workaround for this glitch for PS3 or XBOX 360 users. (Only for PC users via console)

That's from wiki:

For the three quests involving the retrieval of instruments, the script for removal of the quest items from one's inventory at the completion of the quest is bugged.

As such, these items will permanently be in your inventory (they're flagged as Quest items).

Beside that the only think you can try is this:

Make a backup from your saves (to be sure) !!!

If you are on 1.9 patch (and i think your are...) and if you haven't started so far any of the DLC's do this:

Delete your main game. Re-install it again but without any patch. (so, no 1.9 patch)

Load your save and maybe the game will let you remove or even store your item somewhere.

OR

  • When you level up, if you select stamina, you will increase your carry weight by 5 pounds.
  • Also for 3 perk points, you can get the Extra Pockets perk in the Pickpocket tree which increases your carrying capacity by 100. This perk does require 50 skill in Pickpocket.
  • The Light Armor and Heavy armor trees have perks that let your armor become weightless.
    • Weightless Heavy Armor costs 4 perks, and needs 70 skill.
    • Weightless Light Armor costs 3 perks, and 50 skill.
  • There are pieces of armor with the 'Fortify Carry Weight' enchantment
  • There are 6 alchemical ingredients *** with the 'Fortify Carry Weight' property and potions of the same name.
  • Finally, if you can find it, the Steed Stone *** will also increase how much you can carry.

Quest items weigh nothing despite the indication in the game that they do. These stuck items you mentioned are marked as "quest items", so they will not add to the weight of your inventory. Gallus's Journal should be able to be removed from your inventory after completing the Thieves' Guild quest "Hard Answers" (it has nothing to do with Alduin's Wall).

I have completed all the Thieves Guild quests and am the Guildmaster but it's still stuck in inventory :(

Do they really not add weight? @Mark41 I'll try some of the suggestions you listed. I just did the extra pockets one so that helped. And I've just started always having a follower with me so I can give them stuff to carry if I get overloaded.

After installing the 1.9 update, Gallus' Journal was droppable in my game (even though it was not a game started on 1.9), but there may some other issue in your game that is preventing this from happening.

Quest items do not add weight. To test this, place every item in your inventory (that can be removed) into a chest or other container in one of your homes. You should notice that your carry weight is zero, if not there is something bugged up in your game.

I also could finally drop Gallus's Journal after the 1.9 patch, but still have a few musical instruments and other things, but they weigh nothing so I gave up a long time ago worrying about it. I was more annoyed the patch never gave us a way to drop the book we got stuck with if we picked it up before getting the quest from Urag. My second character got stuck with the first book and she was meant to be the book collector in my collection of characters.
