I don't think you're going to get a negative answer on these forums. For me, it's one of my favorites, but I bought it brand new way back when. It's a wide open world with random dungeons and lots of content, but it is dated. There's no fancy voice acting or much in the way of interacting with NPCs, but you have a game that lets you do just about anything with your character. If you're getting this because you like Oblivion or Morrowind, just remember this one's a little rough around the edges, but it's quite good. I just reinstalled it after playing Oblivion, and am enjoying it immensely.

It gets a little getting used to, but you'll enjoy it for sure.

Just beware of some things like racial boni not working the way tehy're written (only those with immunities / resistance work)....

If you want to avoid a lot of pain, I recommend using the http://theelderscrolls.wiwiland.net/?title=Daggerfall_:_DaggerfallSetup_EN from Wiwiland.

About the game itself: If you enjoy roguelike games or just dungeon crawling in general, chances are you`ll enjoy Daggerfall. Oh and in my opinion, melee combat is very satisfying in this game. Just one thing though, save often!

Yes, you should definitely use that if you don't know much about DosBox or just don't want to deal with it. :brokencomputer:

I just recently started playing it and I have to say it's pretty awesome. Except for the fact that I have no idea how to even complete a simple fighter's guild quest.
"Go kill the barbarian in the blah blah residence" Then they don't tell you where that is, and every house is just marked "residence" Very frustrating.
Besides that little annoyance I am loving it though.

You need to ask around. If he doesn't tell you a city/town then it's in the one you are currently in. Just ask townspeople, a lot won't know but some will. Also, if you have improved etiquette or streetwise you can try polite/blunt in conversation to try and get more information as well.

I think the OP should know also that, originally, you'd stop levelling once ANY of your chosen skills reach 100. There is, however, an add-on in the very download that allows attributes and skill to reach 200 I think, so I do not know how this aspectf is affected.

Thanks, I will try this. I don't know how successful I will be since my character has low personality.

Do you need Dosbox to play that, or is it already configured?

It has pre-configured DosBox, along with patches and quest addons (you can choose what you want).

Could you pls tell me what you meant by "you can choose what you want"?

For instance - and this is just my personal taste, not a criticism - , the 'DagSkills ' add-on is something I'd not want in the game (I actually stopped playing D some weeks ago). How can I disable this?

The installer asks what options you want to install (probably near the end). There should be checkboxes. I don't remember exactly what is covered because Daggerfall's been installed on my PC for a while. I do know there were some patches and quest add-ons, perhaps there is the DagSkills you mentioned. If it's there and you don't want it, just don't check it.
