downloading issue

Post » Fri Mar 28, 2014 2:36 am

The ESO site says that people that didnt get the beta were spost to be able to download today, but I am having an issue downloading. It keeps telling me to choose a extation plase but anywhere I choose it doesnt extract the installer... I have enough space on my computer and it still does the same thing. Is there a certian time the servers go up to install?

Choose your own files/ documents maybe. The new windows patches caused that you cant extract to any random folder anymore.

An security thing.

Zetmax Studios Online

Please select another location to extract the installer to:

and whatever one I pick goes right back to this same program window.

The installer may be corrupt. I would delete and re-download. Have you tried that?

I think you have a useraccount issue

go to start search cmd

runas /user:(UserNameHere) CMD.exe

or was it runas/administrator ,not sure..but sometimes if you just use a user account you do not have the privilege

Best info i can find:

This message can be displayed for multiple reasons. The following are the most likely causes:

1. The most common reason is that the installation file was corrupted during the download.

2. The installer is attempting to extract the files on your machine but the default TEMP directory (e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp) is not writeable for the Windows user that is currently running setup.exe.

3. There is not enough space available on your hard drive to expand the installer into the default TEMP directory.

4. In rare cases the problem may be caused by antivirus/antispyware software blocking the installer.

I've just tried running the latest installer

I simply double click the exe and it opens a window where I can select language

Then a few splash screens followed by a welcome screen, I clicked "Continue"

Then I had to accept the end user licence, I did

Then I had a screen with installation options with it defaulting to C:/Program Files (X86) / Zenimax Online

and giving you the option to change, It tells you how much free space there is on the drive it's set to install to, as others have said you need 60GB for it to install (although once installed it takes up just over 30)

Make sure you have enough free space, if not, change to use another disk drive (presuming you have one)

I quit at that point as I already have the game installed but from memo you click install and it goes away and does it's stuff.

In beta at one point, for some reason I had to free up around 80GB before it would install, when I had 60GB it still refused to. But again once installed it took up about 30 GB

I have enough space on both drives. I don't even get to the installer it just shows up with that message no matter what browser or how many times I try to download it.

Make sure you clear all your Temp files from various locations before you download it. You can clear all your temp files using Disc cleanup. For windows 8 just search for Disk Cleanup from the search option.

Check your c:\program files x86\ folder and delete the Zenimax Online folder if it is there. If you delete it a reboot can't hurt. Try to run the installer as administrator again.

ya, that is a weird problem. I'd click start - go to control panel - click view by and select small icons - click administrative tools and then select event viewer. Expand WIndows Logs on the left and look for any relevant system or application events. Then google the hell out of the problem.
