The dialogue hint says "I'm sorry". What Shep actually says, "Who did this? Who shot you?"... I don't like taking a guess at what the dialogue will actually be, when the hints can be so far off...
And there's huge difference between wheeled dialogues and the ones where you actually know what you're gonna say.
The developers promised that the hints will be closer to the pronounced line in the next game to prevent confusion. This will make the difference between the wheel and the numbered dialogue options much further from "huge", not to mention that the conversation wheel has 6 options, just like the old system.
I would like to refer you to my older posts where I have collected developers' answers to these very complaints by forum users. In short, just because a game uses a similar system, does not mean it has to implement it in the exact same way, quite the contrary, actually.
And the "epic" story usually means more big baddies and marching armies and the usual cookie-cutting epic-melodrama-music-during-huge-battle-scenes crap everyone's already seen on every corner.
The one thing that made DA:O stand out is how, after an ocean of ~epic~, one could sit down and enjoy witty party banter while providing numerous dialogue choices, all the while having fun on a personal and smaller scale.
You're contradicting yourself here, implying that you don't actually like the "epic scenes", when there's a lot of them in DA: O, which would mean you dislike (or at least you make it seem like you do in this post) a big part of Origins.
So far there's nothing pointing against witty party banter in the next game and I don't see how the wheel would prevent this from happening (see above). I doubt devs would give up their favorite aspect of the game (and they stated they wouldn't, in fact, there's gonna be a lot more of this, and since the player character is now fully voiced, he will be able to respond while they're traveling).
