Dragon Age: Origins & Awakening & DA2

Post » Wed Apr 21, 2010 9:57 am

I don't believe my computer can run it too well, but i'd rather get your input first:

2x Pentium D 3.0ghz processor (I know, its old)
8600gt GPU
3GB RAM

It's really not that good... at all... but hey whatever, that's why there's always the 360

You'll be able to run it with no problems.

I recently received bought a PS3 version of Dragon Age: Origins, and I love it. It reminds of Baldur's Gate. How large is the game(in hours of content)? Is the expansion worth the price(the game and the expansion are both $40 at my local Best Buy)?

I just got done with a playthrough where I had 50 hours, and did not do everything. Glad to know you are enjoying it though.

As for Awakening, it depends on you. I really hated the beginning because instead of story and dialogue, I got combat. After that, I started really liking it though. Be careful though, there's a [censored]load of bugs. I had to restart because I could not do a companion's quest.

You could try downloading the http://news.bigdownload.com/2009/10/13/download-dragon-age-origins-character-creator/, and see how that fares.

Well, a rushed game can go for about 40 hours. An average game can net about 60 hours. For a time-taker like me, it can last between 80-100 hours. As for Awakening, it's alright, but not worth 40 bucks. Wait for a price drop in your area, or hunt around for a place to get it cheaper.

Looks good. They said they changed the interface since the making of that video. I hoped they would change the music a bit, though.

Also, something that Gaider said that I found pretty interesting: "In fact, we have characters who can not only walk in their own way (gone is the "man walk" of DAO's female characters! Yay!) but have their own idle animations and such."

The new god of war looks like a demon.

Seriously, though, this is like totally and utterly expected after Mass Effect 2. Come on, guys.

I actually like it. They look unique now, and not just like tall, tanned humans.

I didn't say it was a bad thing. Human-only main character is a bad thing, this is just different, but it goes to show that they're really going for the visceral cinematic experience here.

Not for me. Don't like playing as elves or dwarfs.

That's why they should have added more playable classes instead of removing them.

I can see they're going for the JRPG approach and having more a more established main character so that the story can be stronger (like they did in Mass Effect). Personally, I don't think Bioware needs to improve in the storytelling aspect as much as they need to improve in other aspects.

I like it. To bad they didn't start out like that. I might have actually used Sten.

Ha! Well I guess this works and can explain why qunari broodmothers create ogres. The DLC for me has gone downhill after the Awakening Expansion.

On the subject of Awakening, I just finished it yesterday. I really liked it.
Spoiler
My only real complaint is that the ending feels empty, as it doesn't have a nice epilogue like Origins.

Try to leave, you will see a guy attacked by darkspawn near the exit, then after that go back rescue sten, then leave, unless you like sidequests.

You shouldn't need to rely on markers. I know there is an option to activate them though.

Since you are in Lothering, you should do all the quests are to get as much resources/XP as possible. Once you are finished, go northeast(I think) and you'll get an encounter with two dwarfs and some darkspawn.

Oh, you are in Denerim. Well, none of the main quests you have right now revolve around Denerim. I recommend you head to the Mage's Tower first.

I actually liked the thought of Sten being representative of the Qunari. I liked how he you could tell he looked like a demon, but it was subtle. You wouldn't mistake Sten for a human. Of course Bioware didn't seem to agree with me and now it's the exact opposite of subtle.

I mean, if I never saw Sten before this new Qunari art, I would have been fine with it. But now I feel like they just made the Qunari look even more like a cliched fantasy race. A race with horns, tattoos and body paint doesn't exactly scream "original." Not that Sten was original but, like I said, the difference between him and a human was nice and subtle.

Eh, I saw this yesterday. Why all the horns? I thought they would improve upon the race to make it look more like http://rooster82.deviantart.com/art/Sten-172303458 (oh yes). :shifty:

Neither did I, because I spoiled the beginning a bit. My above post was implying if I didn't know anything about him.
