I'm curious to know, is the current patch for DA:Origins buggy or not? I've heard several bad things about it, so I haven't patched yet, but I'd like to hear some opinions from here.

Is that your first stop to gather allies? I did that the first time and with one thing or another, I spent a long time fully resolving everything you will encounter there.

@Mungo0 - Steam dl'd the patch automatically - I didn't play extensively afterwards, but for a couple of hours and I noticed no issues.

Well, i guess i could squeeze few more playtroughs out of this game now that the new patch is out, but one mod-related question: I've seen elven PCs that have ears like some elf NPCs, what mod adds that? I didn't find anything relevant on Nexus.

Well, I pretty much did two playthroughs of Awakening with 1.04, and had minimal issues. Sometimes it could crash if I used a certain spell, but I never reused it or it never happened again.

These two mods - http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=314 and http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=110 add presets with much more pronounced ears for elves and http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=540 changes just the ears. Is this what you were looking for? :)

I'm about 30 hours in Origins and I have a small problem. My character is level 13 and a warrior while the other characters of my group are level 12 and I'm having a problem with high dragons. On normal difficulty, I don't last long at all. On casual difficulty(not my usual difficulty, but I was curious as to how powerful high dragons remained even at this difficulty). I can't seem to defeat that high dragon that I encounter while looking for a certain urn. When I first realized that I was too weak(when my character was level 11), I left and took care of the werewolf problems the Dalish Elves were having. Another problem is Flemeth, but that can wait, since she's not something that I have to defeat during the main quest if I am to ever defeat her. So far, I've done a few side quests and I have a decent amount of money, but I must refer to the wiki for backpack locations. Could anyone offer some tips on how/when(what level) I should be able to kill a high dragon?

In terms of level, this is the recommended order from the Wiki:

Spoiler
3. Circle Tower*
4. Redcliffe Village and Redcliffe Castle
5. Brecilian Forest
6. Haven
7. Denerim and Orzammar in either order you prefer
8. Landsmeet and the rest of the game

(*Note: The Circle tower is best done first because you can get the help of the mages at a certain point in Redcliffe Castle).

I've done the first three and I was going to go to Orzammar, but if it's even more difficult, then I'm stuck.

Well, you could set up the tactics for Wynne to heal allies/self when health falls under a certain percentage. And for health/lyrium potions too.

tried and failed, but that was without Morrigan, and she can also provide some healing help

The last one does just what i want, those other wouldn't work with my other mods (dang facegenmorph.xml file). Thanks :goodjob:

I almost always do it in order

Spoiler

Redcliffe
Circle Tower (while seeking the help of mages for Redcliffe)
Denerim
Haven
Brecilian Forest
Orzammar

Never had too much trouble. Except when the fights in Denerim were scaling incorrectly before 1.02.

Make sure you have a bunch of health and mana potions (the weakest ones will do). Make sure your mage has Cone of Cold. Hit and run, use any opportunities you get to drink potions (health has a greater priority than mana). Don't get into grab range.

Or you could just level up to level 19 and it'll be easy (I think that's the minimum level for a high dragon).

Edit: Any news on mods that reduce the amount of combat?

I really don't care about changes to the console versions because the PC version's combat is going to remain the same.

I've already said that all the sharp armor designs bother me and don't look good in the screenshots. But I can't give my final opinion until I see the finished product. I like how default Hawke looks, though.

The game will play differently on the consoles, yes. You will still be able to pause your game and think things through, but there will be no top-down view due to console restrictions. Apparently DA has to render too many things so switching views so drastically is not possible.
Personally, I don't care as I don't own an Xbox.

I successfully killed both the high dragon and Flemeth. I had to resort to casual difficulty and I controlled Wynne to control all the healing that went on, but I was successful. The only thing I'm disappointed about is that Alistair delivered the killing blow to the high dragon while my character delivered the killing blow to Flemeth, yet the high dragon remains the most powerful enemy killed by my party. My character needs to be number one! /egotistic rant

You know what pisses me off? When a mage or an archer gets the killing blow on a boss. Instead of my warrior doing an awesome finishing move, nothing happens because of the damn mages or rogues. I redid to the high dragon battle multiple times to get the finishing move.

I actually had all other team mates killed off before the final blow... Granted Flemmeth didnt make 2 of optional...
Still I got the Flemmet kill, High dragon kill and Arch demon kill, I was happy.
