Dragon Age: Origins, Awakening & DA2

I know, taking a "not from the game" trailer as evidence isn't a good idea as the Sacred Ashes trailer showed. But really, so far everything that has been said or shown has reinforced the "I don't think I'm going to bother with "this", whatever it is" feeling that has been growing. I could deal with the human only thing. Everything else however has pushed this over to the definite wait until after the game is released pile. I am in no hurry to play this.

Judging by the new concept art for the races, they all got a decent makeover.

Shame you won't be able to play as any of them. Almost makes you wonder why they bothered.

I feel like the classes are going to be merged together and you decide where to put the points, or Hawke was a Arcane warrior in that vid.

You still have rogue, mage and warrior classes, with various new specializations which are yet to be discussed.

Those staves to the left resemble Flemeth's.

Shame you won't be able to play as any of them. Almost makes you wonder why they bothered.

Because the rest of the world and characters in it don't magically stop existing if you can only play as one race.

Old news. Elves, Dwarves, and humans look the same as ever, both from Dragon Age and from the typical high fantasy stock. I can't help but laugh at the caption in the http://bioware.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/da2_races.jpg. Different standards of beauty indeed.

You know what would be cool? If you could play as a Qunari... or an elf... or a dwarf.

That's debatable. They stop existing in at least one capacity...

Wow, it seems like there's some people who just cannot be pleased.

I enjoyed the trailer. Then again, I enjoy all these new CGI trailers from BioWare.

There were also Burning Home, Deep roads, Flemeth, a dragon, a love interest (from what I guess anyway)

So flemmeth with an army o gothf women, yay I get to kill her... Again.

Looks more like an army of Morrigans. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

As I said before, the contents of the trailer don't mean jack [censored]. Speculating on the nature of Hawke's class in it is pointless. Just because he's shown using magic while fighting with a sword and armor doesn't mean we will be able to in-game, for the exact same reason that I can tell you with absolute certainty his eyes will never glow like that.

Dont know why everyone says thay are all morrigans yhes its a nice thory, but it could just be a dragon cult like in DAO.
They are gonna pull a ME2 maybe

I hope not, I didnt useit to its full potential, but I dislike games being stripped down, eventually we will all end up with the same games.

Wow, it seems like there's some people who just cannot be pleased.

I enjoyed the trailer. Then again, I enjoy all these new CGI trailers from BioWare.

CGI trailers are pointless. TGThey show no gameplay, cutscenes arent that detailed and it hasnt showed us much about the story, its useless.

I'm finally sinking my teeth into DA:O and I have to say the story & sound are very good. All-be-it I'm having problems with party tactics. Now I'm not too much of a noob with the concept of the tactics (basically like Gambits in FF12), but for some reason my party members just stand there watching their friend get mauled. I have to tell them to attack the other enemies manually, every time the enemy they were focusing finally croaks. Or maybe I just got spoiled with FF12's Gambits where they actually worked. My party members in DA:O sit there, "Hurr durr, my buddy is getting mauled. I'm just gonna sit here and watch."

Anyone willing to give me tips? If no one wants to clutter up this thread with this subject, go ahead and PM with tactic tips. FYI my party members are only at levels 3 & 4.

Eh...that trailer didnt impress me at all. That Qunari just looked ridiculous to me. It just seems like Bioware has made the Qunari into Tieflings. And the final spell Hawke used, although impressive, looked over the top to me as well.

Maybe its just me being cynical after a long day, but Bioware isnt doing much to make me optimistic about DA2

I still haven't beaten Awakenings...........

:cold:

I got way distracted with RDR then M&B Warband and now SC2.....

I'm thinking I should just start completely fresh, with a brand new DAO game that leads into Awakenings.

I just saw the new trailer, and....

Where is all the righeous Gray Wardening what I was expecting? Well it looks pretty and and you have that huge sword swinging Commander Shephard there.
I'll wait until I see some real gameplay. I actually like new Qunari, maybe too demonish or something but it is ok.

About a week ago, I got an update on my PS3 that I assume was related to Dragon Age: Origins(notification appeared when starting up Dragon Age: Origins). Ever since that update, my save files have been... different. There's no longer a picture on any of my save files and I'm worried that my save files may have been corrupted. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Under your party's portraits in the left part of the screen there should be two little icons. The right one orders your party to either hold their ground or move. At least it's like that on the PC.

Are you on the PC? Perhaps you accidentally pushed the "H" button, which makes them hold position until something gets within melee range. There's a little "running man" icon below your party portraits which indicates what mode they're in.

You know what? The streamlined combat might actually have been with good intentions from Bioware. As you know, a big complaint people have is about the amount of filler combat that pads out the game (Orzammar for example). Bioware probable thought that people were complaining that combat was not fast enough rather than complaining that combat was unnecessarily plentiful, so they decided to streamline it and make it less boring. Unfortunately, it's RTWP, so we all know it's going to be boring regardless. =/

I immediately recognized Mass Effect's wheel of discourse, but this version has the addition of helpful indicator icons.

Thanks to these images you'll always know what sort of a response your character will give -- there's an olive branch for peaceful approaches, a comedy mask for witty remarks and a fist pump full of aggressive responses.

Do not want. How about leaving it up to me to decide whats good and whats bad Bioware, eh instead of putting our morality on to it, I can see this in choices just like the dialouge.
Nice to learn about the chantry, im going to rebuild it, I usually had a character who beleived that crap.

Same here. I find it amusing that Bioware uses trailers featuring combat one expects from action-oriented games to promote a game that has anything but.

I'm playing DA:O on PC and no, I'm sure the running man icon is active the whole battle until the party puts their weapons away.
Yeah, I realized that shortly after my original post. I still find that even when I have all four party members selected and on follow mode (running man icon), they still tend to just stand there after defeating the foes I click on for them to focus on. Be nice if they would immediately & automatically move on to the next foe that's already standing right beside them beating up on one of their party members. I guess I can't expect the DA:O Tactics to work exactly like FF12 Gambits... or can I? I also realize that in DA:O party members making automatic tactical decisions is apparently a skill. Do these Tactics become more automatic and efficient the more Tactic skill icons I activate at level up? I currently have 0/4. Edit: Or are those Tactic skill icons only to gain another Tactics slot?

The Tactics skill only makes you gain extra Tactic slots, so you can program them with more stuff. As for your lazy companion woes, can't help you, I just turn that stuff off and never bother.
