1 - We used a different compression scheme in DA II than DAO (something called "ogg" I am told).
2 - 2 less fully VOed langauages (no Hungarian and no Czech)
3 - Optimized mesh data, physics and lighting (which I am told reduces the footprint of environments by close to 75%)
According to a French interview, DA2 has 30,000 lines of dialogue.

Origins had around 70,000 lines of dialogue.

EDIT: according to http://www.myformatfactory.com/OGG-MP3 using the OGG codec results in 5x savings of space for comparable audio quality vs. MP3. Is MP3 the format that DAO used?
