Dragon Age: Origins, Awakening & DA2

And I seriously hope if your telling the truth about that dev that he was being sarcastic. I mean really, it was bad enough in Mass effect 2 with Miranda's skintight suit I dont need any more games with female characters dressed like strippers. how can anyone take a game seriously with that content, your not going to get respect for gaming as a medium when the devs are "hurr look at her thong/skintight suit and straps (Jack ME2)" its not practical, makes no sense, and just comes off as fanservice, and I find it insulting that a developer thinks im some pervert who gets enjoyment out of seeing characters dressed like that. Well atleast BW havent sunk to team nina level of sadness.

Well, the characters are dressing the part. Check the ESRB review, especially the part about certain services rendered.

I just saw my first gameplay video of this, and I have to ask: why does the UI look so crappy compared to the first game?

Wow really BW, I expected better. So we have sideboob controversy in 1, which was fine, they changed it in DAO so people wear underwear, weird but understanable given controversy, and now we have that (I dont know if we cantalk about it here) but really, ME1 was controversy over nothing, but this just seems... "off" I cant desribbe it, but I dont think its really something that was needed, romance was never needed, but that just seems even less needed, and more controversial.

Ok I played DAO, DAA and plan on getting all the dlc, but why even bother importing my DAO/DAA/witch hunt character if they ignore it and say "yeah despite your ending, this is what happened".
I mean hawke is completely seperate to my warden, so why should it lessen my warden storty ?
Bioware I am dissapoint.

I dont think I will get this game. A few good games coming out this year, and I am short on cash, but this game is just dissapointg after playing through DAO. Its made worse because it makes My DAA character feel even less because despite my ending, they have placed thier own events. Why bother importing ? Will it even recognize Anders as a warden in this ?

I don't see one ending hurting or lessening the Warden's story. Though it's a poor retcon I am pretty much sure Bios will make up something worthwile. Dead Anders possesed by Justice anyone? :unsure2:

But some cosmetic things I dislike:

Hurlocks changed into skeletor monsters
Ogre's face changed into sad panda
According to DA Legends, Genlocks are being turned into a tainted gorilla and bronto hybrid
Oversized anime swords. Well, allright I dealt with 'em in Origins. Flashy rogue spinkicks, backflips and teleporting? Not good. And seriously, he roundhouse kicks a flask instead of throwing it.
UI. Why fix something that isn't broken? I don't need neon colors and less info so it(apparently) won't make my head hurt

Still, despite all this, I am probably going to get it just because of the updated toolset.
Along with the Witcher 2 just in case.

Pretty much what I think. Drastically changed character and glowing eyes? Yeah. Kristoff might have fallen apart at that point in time. ^_^

Ah, it would be a nice twist though. Different companion according to your import? :woot:

Anyhoo.... stumbled upon another vid + info + pics

The [censored]. Who the hell thinks of these things.

Also my issue is why bring back a character like Anders ? He had an ending, just make a new damn character instead of ruining my ending.
Bring back someone who you cant kill in the game, or someone you havent met, lazy writers ruining endings, or jsut make 1 less character, I didnt care about him... Just hope ser punce alot is there if he is.

Well, they did it before with Oghren too. :sadvaultboy:

In Origins when his approval got to -100 you could kill him. Yet he appears in Awakening? Srsly? Of all the possible companions... HIM?! how bout mah LI Bioware?! :verymad:

I disliked his personality, so nevver got it to that, he was always the guy I leave at camp with sten and dog.

Oghren shouldnt have been in awakening anyway, no one careed about him, he should have stayed with his family, and making him completely neutral after all I did was annoying.
i also hate how Isabela went from old, white bodygaurd in the pearl, to a young black pirate. I mean The only acceptable art change is flemmeth, because she is a shapeshifter.
And the qunari change was bad "ones without horns are special" yeah those random qunari mercs I killed sure were important...
on a lore heavy game, I see no need to change so much. Cant wait till if they establish things in 2, only for DA3 to change things again, because something else looked to generic.

Then import your save and he will report how his ending turned out. What's the problem? Sure, he can find a bad end in one of them, but it seems that this has been taken care of, too.

That though, that really was bad. Apparently there wasn't enough time to include every option - I'd rather have seen the Orlesian made your character then. But then people would have complained yet again.

The animations look so awkward and rough.

It seems like http://pcmedia.ign.com/pc/image/article/114/1148168/dragon-age-ii-20110207043701185.jpg look fine, but http://pcmedia.ign.com/pc/image/article/114/1148168/dragon-age-ii-20110207043651451.jpg looks horrible.

How did they determine that? From a survey?

They collect information. Every time you log into your account, update your achievements/trophies, upload your Warden. If I ever bothered to play logged in, my information would have screwed up their stats. I played all of the Origins, as a female, for each of the classes [game restrictions excepted, of course], and completed the game with every one. I usually made a dual wield warrior or rogue because I didn't like using a shield, and every one of my characters had a bow as a back-up. My dual wield axe rogue was very good at dealing damage. Given my general playing style, the changes in the game really bothered me.

I'm finding some posts on their forum rather ironic now; a few scattered posts about how the combat is too fast are now showing up. You can still only cue up one command at a time, so if people want to play tactical all the way through a fight with rabid kangaroo jumping, flipping, and biotic charging, they are going to have to be fast on the pause button.

Honestly, I don't really know what to think about Dragon Age 2. When I read some of the early articles about the game, and their references to "making combat feel more intuitive and action oriented", it reaked of dumbing the series down. Having finally seen some of the vids of the game, it appears that my fears were probably accurate. Not sure if I'm even going to bother getting this one at launch. This is coming from someone woh regards Dragon Age as the best rpg to come out since Morrowind, and Baldur's Gate before that.

I don't see DA2 as topping the original. Especially with all that I've seen.

Some simply loveable things about Origins (as well as characters) can't be replaced.

Wow - So Bioware is doing a major retcon on Anders - he deserts the Wardens and becomes an http://dragonage.bioware.com/da2/world/characters/anders/.

Sojourner, I would smack you (and Bioware) for dropping such a nasty spoiler...but I'm just too indifferent about this game to care and very close to declaring discontinuity at this point.

So regardless...they derailed not one, but TWO characters at once. Hoo boy...

Just took a peek in here after months, looks like the train wreck is set to arrive on schedule, and now with 90% more disaster than was anticipated. Good god... nooo Anders. What have they done to you... we did a bro fist. Now you sold out for marketing appeal. Also I liked Ogrehn he was one of my favorite characters, and I loved his many uh... jokes. Then again I'm the sort of sick horrible bastard that laughs at this, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QMAQzrMcV0.

I'm excited and looking forward to the release date as I've already pre-ordered on Steam.

I don't get why some think it's going to be a disaster. I had a chance to play for a few minutes of the demo during Comic-Con last year and it was fun.

Remember, the Interwebs are Gollum.
The precious! It has ruined the precious! The precious was changed!
What did you do to our precious? It grows old! Change it! The precious is boring!
On and on and on...

I'm doing my best to keep myself back, this thread and many others become borderline flamebait... Though it's still better here than in any other place. :unsure2:

Deserts? From one possible ending yes, but It's safe to assume that the Warden-Commander could allow him to wander on his own(there's nothing in the Epilogue that says he'll stay in the Keep for the end of days).

Plus I don't think he's becoming an abomination. I mean, he still has his consciousness it seems, maybe it's like with Wynne? :unsure2:
