Dragon Age: Origins, Awakening & DA2

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 10:52 am

You know, I created a Elf Mage in DAO and then realized I had created the ultimate character to be hated in the eyes of most citizens of Ferelden. :P
That was the first character I created. I ended up quitting that play-through though. I didn't mind being hated, I just couldn't figure out a good reason for why I'd want to help everyone and save them from the blight rather than heading for the nearest border immediately after waking up in Flemeth's hut.

It's OK. I think I'm just coming to like Origin's music more ever since I started my Mage last week.

Yea, I don't think it's anywhere as good as DA:O's music. I was surprised, since it's Inon Zur's work.

Eh, I haven't been impressed with Inon Zur's work thus far. It kinda' works for general ambiance, but is otherwise forgettable. And the few memorable tracks in DAO were hardly ever used (like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJBQkYEqmhk :flame:)

Not sure... It sounded ok, pretty good with the vocals. Then the vocals stopped and it went downhill.
Did they have to use the fan service character for the picture. Its like how before ME2 was out I saw to many images of Miranda.

And now Izabela looks white... Cant they just decide on a look and leave it at that.

Thanks for posting, yes, the score is excellent IMO. Now i'm bummed that EA didn't allow Steam to offer a digital premium edition with the soundtrack.

I didn't see that coming. Thanks for a good laugh.
(especially the pilgrim part)
Still, I guess it's just a matter of taste. I don't mind recycled stuff if It's done well.

Bioware does do dialogue and companion interaction well, but there were moments when I was asking myself, "Who wrote this crap?" Bioware has a bit of a problem getting down the "show, don't tell" mantra of good writing.

Ayup, there are sometimes 'these' moments where I just can't find a suitable response for my Warden. I only fear that it could go worse with this ME dialogue wheel where half the time my avatar keeps saying something else? :stare:

So far I'm liking what I'm seeing from Dragon Age 2. The Combat's faster which is a good thing and the combat in Dragon Age 2 looks much better then Origins's clanky combat where it was almost impossible to play a Rogue effectively. Anders being possessed by Justice is a plot twist that I didn't see coming.

Meh, I've never been too thrilled by the Dragon age soundtrack. The Soundtrack of The Witcher on the other hand...

There are some pieces from DA:O I thought were outstanding. And I agree about Witcher - awesome soundtrack, imo. The battle music was some of the best I've heard in a long time.

 There was a good image showing how bad the wheel can be, jokingly (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/comics/stolen-pixels/8286-Stolen-Pixels-241-The-Gaming-Afterlife). But the wheel is terrible, its bad you restrict options, worse you dont know what your saying. I jsut assume up = holier than though response, middle = neutral, bottom = being an ass for no reason. Usually pick middle, unless I feel strongly about how good/bad something is. I dont see why I cant see what I am saying, instead of just hoping shepard dosent go all high and mighty, or start punching things.

@Darth really ? I thought the music was reallly good e.g http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rVwBksnZi4 I haventplayed the witcher though.

I first read the youtube title as "battle at redcliffe" and I was going to say you're insane. Then I read the rest of the title and saw Lothering and I agree. It's a nice track. I love the orzammar theme. The way it drones I could never get sick of it. :whistling:

I loved this one:

 That comic is spot-on. Strange you mention punching things - that's exactly what happens for one of the dialogue options in one of the recent gameplay vids.

I saw that vid. I am hoping the red fist was a symbol of violence, because if its always going to mean jerk response then there are going to be issues.
Also the context of him punching was so stupid, pretty much "I am going to kill you" *walks up and punches* yeah that will help the situation, just giving him a heads up and pissing him off.

Can you say what it was French ninja, the page wont load.

Yup, that dialog is not one of Bioware's finer moments. What was the point of punching? Hawke should have whipped out his weapon of choice and gone straight to the killing.

Surprise, Aveline is not a LI option. Expect an outrage in her thread on the Bioforums. :celebration:

I don't mind actually. It would be an inapropiate Jaheira moment IMO.

Dont know much about the other characters, but iirc her hsband dies at the start... Then again that didnt stop fem shep and thane. Despite constantly brinign up his dea wife.
And probablly in ME3 Kasumi will be a LI. Also how do you know she wont be one ? IMO its god, atleast one person is immune to the main characters of BW games who must have some pheramone, because just talking to people leads to six.

i wish there was more drastic changes with your decisions. it just didnt feel right for http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PN0el0v2pEM to happen even if it was for the greater good and alistar hates you for it but then sleeps with you afterwards. also, im pretty sure you would have someone after you if you killed a son of a king.

At least Isabela is normal, even if she is a [censored]. Romance options for females are making chastity look attractive.

Yeah, I thought it was really annoying in ME2 how once you hit a certain point you just can't talk to some of the party members. I like Tali, I just don't like her like that, and it's a shame the only way to keep talking to her is by getting into her mask.

Yeah I was like "hi so how are you doing" because it would be weird to juststop talking and I am curiosu, that then lead to me thining "oh [censored], well someone will be dissapointed" on the brightside I got an achivement...
