http://dragonage.bioware.com/da2/demo

There's going to be a demo. And another give-away item.

With all the dlc, and pre-order items I'm leaning towards the "bribing people to order the game because it might not be that great" argurment.

There might be problems with people getting the pre-order items as well. It seems that some of the retail sites aren't bothering with the pre-order items, including Amazon in different places. Posters are still trying to get that straightened out, and one place that people pre-ordered at has now canceled some of the pre-orders, too late to get the signature edition anywhere else. This is the most messed up pre-release I've ever seen from EABioware.

Still no update on the drm requirements.

Yeah I heared about that, think its just getting stupid at this point.
Also if your a gamestop employee you get to try the demo early. I have no idea why they are doing that. Its also kinda messed up the demo is out so soon before the game, and say someone liked the demo, they already missed out on dlc because of the damn signature edition.
Eh I actually want this to fail at this point.

 You can buy the dlc separately if you find you really want it. $7.00, iirc.

True, but I think its wrong they cut content from the game just to use as an incentive to buy a game people are unsure of.

I'm getting that vibe too, along with the "selling an incomplete game" vibe due to their unabashed marketing of first-day DLC before the game even releases.

Steam and console versions will use native DRM. Note that some, if not all, pre-order bonuses are not available through Steam. Here's the real kicker: PC retail gets special treatment. In addition to having to activate the game online, you will also be required to "phone home" at periodic intervals to keep playing. Good luck dealing with EA's servers. If your internet connection isn't solid, I recommend avoiding PC retail like the plague.

Dragon Age 2 was probably rushed. It's pretty hard for a Gaming company to release two Franchises that are RPG's within 16 months and have them 100% clean. Still I'm getting it but I probably will have reservations on it.

After recent statements, it seems this whole phone back issue isn't set in stone yet. They might as well just do the same as they did with ME, just an activation when you first start the game. I'll just wait and see...

The ME, TOR and DA teams are mostly separate. Bioware is huge now, this isn't the same small studio that made Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights any longer. ^_^

Well, seems like Anders is the last companion.

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/988966-dragon-age-ii/58066934

Is it just me or is the graphics somewhat.... downgraded? I looked at my Warden's avatar and compared it to this Sebastian guy.. ugh.
But then again, I looked at some other screenshots and got a totally different impression. Don't know what to make of it. :unsure2:

I kind of hated that guy. :sadvaultboy: Except maybe all of his cat-related dialog.

Lovely. The one character who's backstory didn't necessarily have him anywhere near the Free Marches, they put in the Free Marches. Nathaniel, who was sent to squire in the Free Marches so he's definitely there before the events in Awakening, isn't there.

The more I hear and see about the game, the happier I am with the decision to not get it.

Same here. Literally everything I have seen/heard about it so far has given me a negative reaction.

Only being able to be human? Wow that really svcks. I guess I could get over it. I mean, it works in Mass Effect because it tells the story of humanity's struggle in the galaxy. Don't really understand the need for two role-playing games by the same studio where you are a defined character but whatever.

Isabela- Seriously? That annoying pirate from DAO is going to be my companion? I really hope I can give her the boot.
Anders- The ONE guy I really hated in Awakening gets to be a companion? Fantastic. He'll get the boot too.

Restricting the classes under the veil of making them "unique" I guess that works for people who don't like options within a character. But instead what to play through the game thirty times with different ones.
Then we have the actual gameplay videos... Just look awful. I don't like how the rogue has become a mix between Laura Croft, Kratos, and some anime charging swordsman.

I'll give it a fair chance as a rental. But in no way am I going to just purchase it. And even then I'm not sure I want to buy it if I like it. Day one DLC is serious Guar dung. The industry new idea of "if you want the full game you better pre-order it" mentality is disturbing. And even then if you want everything in some cases you would have to pre-order and purchase the game from various retailers. Since they all have "exclusive" stuff.

It seems Bioware will have to do some serious retconning to make Anders a DA2 companion. Ugh. And I didn't even like him in Awakening.

According to David Gaider, only 5% of people played dwarves and slightly more than that played elves. The overwhelming majority played the male human noble origin. This svcks because my only complete playthrough was a male dwarf noble because it felt so personal. I cared about my Aeducan. Hawke can get stomped on by an ogre. He's just a fantasy derivative of Shepard anyway.

How did they determine that? From a survey?

I don't know. Maybe the same program that helped them find out that 80% of people played a male Shepard (and mostly soldiers at that) in Mass Effect 2 and that Garrus was the most common companion chosen to go on missions.

And it's for that reason why I will never touch the human noble origin EVER! :flame:

I'm going to assume those statistics came from people playing online and having the checkbox ticked to upload data to BioWare's servers.
Basically they decided to base their decisions DAII on people who play single-player games while connected to X-box live (for instance) for reasons I cannot fathom.
They also seem to be doing things backwards... Instead of looking at that data and saying "Okay, how can we make these races and these classes more awesome so people will use them" they just cut it...

I also agree with you. I never really play dwarves (except once in D&D as a half orc-half dwarf) but for some reason the Dwarven Noble story just clicked with me. That's the one that felt "right" for the story to me.

FemShep and Elf Mage FTW!

You know, I created a Elf Mage in DAO and then realized I had created the ultimate character to be hated in the eyes of most citizens of Ferelden. :P

It seems to be a regular Bioware tactic. They did the same with Mass Effect. Bad controls for vehicles? CUT THEM OUT! Too many barren hostile planets? Cut them out too! Generic retextures for a hundred armor clones? Cut them out (and force companions to wear nothing but a bra strap in the cold vacuum of space.

That last one doubles for Dragon Age 2 apparently, one dev saying he's glad you can't give Isabella pants.

Anders as the last companion isn't surprising. I kinda liked him, he was an interesting character that had certain views that I didn't think an Apostate Mage would have.

I'm liking this character group. Two Warriors, Two Rogues, Two Mages, and possibly depending on what class you picked another Mage or Warrior.

Ok I played DAO, DAA and plan on getting all the dlc, but why even bother importing my DAO/DAA/witch hunt character if they ignore it and say "yeah despite your ending, this is what happened".
I mean hawke is completely seperate to my warden, so why should it lessen my warden storty ?
Bioware I am dissapoint.

I dont think I will get this game. A few good games coming out this year, and I am short on cash, but this game is just dissapointg after playing through DAO. Its made worse because it makes My DAA character feel even less because despite my ending, they have placed thier own events. Why bother importing ? Will it even recognize Anders as a warden in this ?

I agree, I dont like thier approach. Instead of tackleng the issue, and just a few minor tweaks, they remove the feature entirely. Some things make no sense either because I didnt hear about any complaints about inventory in DAO, no complints about the dialouge system.
And I seriously hope if your telling the truth about that dev that he was being sarcastic. I mean really, it was bad enough in Mass effect 2 with Miranda's skintight suit I dont need any more games with female characters dressed like strippers. how can anyone take a game seriously with that content, your not going to get respect for gaming as a medium when the devs are "hurr look at her thong/skintight suit and straps (Jack ME2)" its not practical, makes no sense, and just comes off as fanservice, and I find it insulting that a developer thinks im some pervert who gets enjoyment out of seeing characters dressed like that. Well atleast BW havent sunk to team nina level of sadness.
