my last post from the other one:

im going to start with a warrior and then a mage after i beat the campaign. I like playing warriors first so i can get a feel for the UI and just the overall gameplay since they probably overhauled it for the consoles. :sadvaultboy:

If they would release an actual store bought copy of a mac version, id rather buy that but they sold origins through that direct 2 drive and other [censored] so i doubt they will have a mac version till later.

It looks fun, i think the ui looks a little sparse tho. I think the art direction looks cool, except for the darkspawn

A whole bunch of info on the Warrior, Rogue and Mage talents. It's still not all of them but it's still a good amount and I'm definitely playing as a mage.

Finally got around to finishing my second playthrough of Dragon Age, now going to do Awakening for the first time. And behold, my brave Dwarf has magically come back from the dead!

I can't remember which one of the devs posted, after pages of complaints from players, that if the player didn't mind the "hand-waving" of intentionally using their dead Warden, the devs didn't either, so they made it possible to use your "dead" Warden. Its like the game automatically assumes you did Morrigan's ritual if you use a dead Warden.

I only have one game that has the Dark Ritual ending. I have one game that has Alistair kill the arch-demon. I have many more games where Loghain redeems at least some of his actions by killing the archdemon. I have a few where it was my Warden; none of those were the ones I used for Awakening. The people of Amarathine are a little grumpier if you have an Orlesian Warden Commander.....

I didn't find the Fade so bad, it surprises me that everyone seems to hate it so much.

got boring after a short while, Although I did get bored of DA:O fast, which is why it was tedious for me to get all endings on both DA:O, I did get tired of seeing the same places over and over, even if I change the difficulty, I can mix things up on most other games that I play but sadly I could not find the urge to do so in DA:O, If DA:2 shakes things up then I would welcome it as a time sink between then and Skyrim.

The Fade's ok but it's not one of my favorite places in Origins and I usually do that mission 1st to both get it out of the way and the attribute bonuses.

I enjoyed the Fade in itself. The problem was the fact that the whole quest section you were on then was locked down. First you get stuck in the tower, then you're trapped in the Fade in the middle of that. Almost every other quest in the game you can wander off in the middle of if you get bored or come across something you can't handle, the Tower section made that impossible which was probably part of the problem.

That, and the fact that once you've played through the Fade once it plays out exactly the same every time after, makes it less enjoyable than it might have been for me.

I got a mod that lets me skip the Fade. I don't hate the Fade, but if you are into making lots of characters the fade can get a little repetitive repetitive.

My problem was that it was a really weird phase that made very little sense to me. I did like the combat though.

Yep. About the same for me. Once I figured out the best/fastest way to go to get the shapes, it wasn't so bad.

The part I really, really disliked was the Anvil part. I don't like forced party members. I would also have liked an explanation for why Branka, a dwarf, could use the lyrium deposits and use magic, when my dwarf characters can't even use the deposits in the Fade....

The German demo is out in some places. I can safely say now that, yes, except for the lack of a completely zoomed out isometric view, this plays just the same as Origins. The more responsive gameplay is balanced with lots D&D-style low HP enemies, not those MMO tanks the previous game had. Think Shadows of Amn instead of Baldur's Gate.

Same here. It was really nice the first time around, but after... Not so much.

I don't understand. Are you saying you can import characters from DA1? Or that the game plot will make reference to your Warden dying?

That was about Awakening. But yes, you can import your save files from Origins and the plot details will adjust in DA2.

Yeah I heard about that. I'm gonna wait until Tuesday to download because I really wouldn't want to trust a 3rd party that could possibly infect my computer with Viruses or worse.

I'm playing "Awakening" for the first time and have finished putting down the peasant riot at the keep, along with the nobles' assassination attempt. (Tried to calm the rioters down first, but persuasion didn't work.) Does the fact that my warden had to kill several nobles mean I'm not playing the game well enough? I paid the Dark Wolf to look into the rumors, but maybe I didn't get back to him soon enough.

I don't want to rely on walkthroughs for this game, so I guess I'll just have to make mistakes on this playthrough.

I really hate forced party members when they aren't central to the plot, like Wynne. Oghren kinda made sense because he was guiding you through the Deep Roads. Having Wynne forced into my party really ground my gears, since she can be killed before proceeding, and she adds nothing to the story except some seriously lame dialogue.

I'm still on the fence as far as DA2 is concerned, since Bioware clearly sacrificed everything for the sake of story, and well, I'm not impressed with what I've seen from the demos. Dialogue was lacking until a certain notorious NPC makes an appearance.
