So, uhm, what's up with the Darkspawn in the demo? Are they really like that now?

im assuming that because the story is being told after it happens that the details are flawed and thats why the darkspawn look like [censored] and the qunari look like demons.

Why? WHY!? That'd be like changing the Smurfs from Blue to Green after a while. A big no-no!

I much prefer the new Qunari, the horns make them look less "orcish."

and I don't have a problem with skeletor looking darkspawn - however, I only hope they are not all identical clones as we saw in the demo version

What was so orcish about them in DAO? They just looked like humans with white hair.

The darkspawn are still ugly enough to kill and not feel bad about it :D And did you see the concept art of a qunari woman? :hubbahubba:

Victims of the new art direction.

Horrified upon witnessing the Archdemon's defeat, all darkspawn knew that they were in danger. They weren't afraid of being hunted and killed by the remains of the army, it was the great big pen in the sky that filled them with fright. They knew that without the Archdemon to hold it back that they were doomed to become pitiful monsters compared to the abominations they once were. It was not the eradication of sentient life that drove their blight, it was an attempt to weaken their true enemy, the most vile creatures in the universe, the Bioware Art team. :cold:

I think that diversity would help them, the chainmail look...i don't know they just look weird. The qunari, i'm indifferent, i think they wanted them with horns from teh beginning, they just couldn't do it with the helmets so they chopped them off in dao

I guess it was their green skin tone, pointy ears and big muscles.

@tojka yep the qunari women are pretty hot (and extremely tall)

They weren't green, they were kinda' bronze-ish, and their bodies were exactly the same as everyone else, just taller.

'Course, I don't exactly see how going from "orc" to "demon/tiefling" is much of an improvement, just trading one fantasy stereotype for another.

Thats it. I'm calling shenanigans on bioware.

waving something shiny in front of people saying, "Hey if we 1mil downloads of our demo, we'll give you this." then saying... "oh we've had spammers, so we are going to knock back the counter a bit"

there was 800,000+ about 7 hours ago, now there is almost 1.2million, and they are saying "CONGRATS! WE DID IT! NOW YOU GET THE SHINIES!!! but wait... if you do THIS, now we'll give you ANOTHER one!"

I'm not your [censored], bioware. I'm done with the dragon age series. If you do the same crap with ME3, I'll never buy another one of your games again. :swear: :flame:

I hate thier marketing in general.

I saw a bit of gameplay video on another site and I gotta say, Anders is (censored) Awesome :celebration: :celebration: :celebration: :celebration: :celebration:

The way he goes into Vengeance mode is sick. It's kinda similar to going Super Saiyan but without the hair change. I'll give a brief description of the video that I saw.

Crossbows aren't the only bows you can use, you can have Longbow type weapons

Anders is awesome

In your house you can order supplies like Health Potions, Poisons, Runes. You'll still have to pay for the supplies though. There is also a email/letter type system. It's similar to what Awakening had with the lady in front of the keep only it's an option on a desk and you'll interact with it more often.

I saw apparently that the guy had Blood Dragon Armor in storage. I'm not sure how that got in there.

Your families faces change, We already know this but seeing Bethany with short hair was kinda confusing at 1st.

Oh great, well atleast I know exactly how my choices will be shown. Stupid gmae why import if its just a [censored] letter ?

Hahahahaha. Oh my god, this is freaking hilarious. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=422971

wow, that's taking their social marketing campaign a bit personally, no? :cookie:

Even if you don't do anything, as long as 1,000,000 other people "like" that page on facebook or whatever, you will still get the third book unlocked.

It isn't so much that. Its the amount of dlc they are throwing at people; sign up for a newsletter, get a staff; download the demo, get items, order merchandise from this epicweapons.com and get a ring; play their facebook game, get items; buy Deadspace 2, get armor. That isn't including the pre-order dlc if you order from ea.com or wherever. If EABioware used the ES system of weight, Hawke would be over encumbered before s/he left Lothering.

The amount of freebies (as in items you get for free when starting) was pretty ridiculous in Origins too, but that... Ah well, i'll just sell them to first merchant and pretend the money was from ms. Hawke's rainy day fund :hehe:

Sure it's a lot of stuff, and it's kind of silly, but who cares?

IMO it's extremely savvy marketing on EA's part, but if you aren't interested as a consumer, you don't have to get involved at all.

Because to people who aren't into the game, and are judging only by the demo, it really looks like "HEY!!! LOOK HERE!!! WE KNOW THE GAME svckS, WE KNOW WE SCREWED UP THE ENDING FOR PEOPLE WHO PLAYED AWAKENING, BUT HERE'S FREE STUFF IF YOU LOOK AT OUR GAME! MORE STUFF IF YOU PLAY OUR CRAPPY DEMO!! MORE STUFF IF YOU BUY THIS OTHER GAME THAT BIOWARE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH!! MORE STUFF IF YOU PLAY OUR FACEBOOK GAME!! MORE STUFF IF YOU LIKE US ON FACEBOOK!! MORE STUFF FOR NO REASON AT ALL!! WE ARE DESPERATE HERE PEOPLE!!! SERIOUSLY, WE'RE GIVING STUFF AWAY SO YOU BUY OUR GAME!!!!"

It might get some people interested in the game, but I don't think it will keep people interested in EABioware's games. I wonder if the people who bought into the marketing are going to remain EABioware customers interested in their games, or lose interest quickly. I know that the changes and the marketing convinced me to not bother with the game. I have a long history of buying Bioware games. This will be the first one that has normal drm that I won't buy. I might not be the only one. I guess I'll find out after the game is released.

If anyone here ordered the Signature edition from Play.com and received email that it was canceled, this thread might have information for you. http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/141/index/6274813/1

Do you really feel that someone who likes DA2 and plans to buy it is going to suddenly change their mind because EA is doing a social marketing campaign?

I downloaded the demo only because I wanted to try it, I could care less about the unlocked items. I have absolutely zero interest in any sort of facebook game, and will never like or repost any gaming page on facebook.

I don't feel any compulsion to do anything else and my decision to buy DA2 has not changed (granted, I already pre-ordered it on Steam a while back, but I'm still looking forward to the game just as much as I was before this social media campaign.)

The reason I feel it's savy, is because as you say, it might get some new people interested in the game.

Social media marketing is not easy to execute well, and nobody fully understands the best way to take advantage of it. I think it's interesting to watch this campaign play out and if there are elements that are successful, I would be inclined to learn from them or even copy some tactics for my own marketing projects.

I agree 100%, the demo hasn't changed my decision on getting DA2. I love some of the changes that have been done to the game and I could really care less about the social media part of it.

I sorta agree with the person above me. Even if some things bug me about the current Bioware stuff, they have yet to make a game that would fully dissappoint me(or others, according to the statistics  ).

Well, just created mah http://www.dragonagenexus.com/imageshare/images/582010-1298993720.jpg in DA2. Must say the CC created faces look miles better than the ones in Origins.

Imagine the possibilities with the toolset.
