Dragon Age: Origins, Awakening & DA2

Post » Fri Feb 04, 2011 6:53 pm

All four are almost certain to be, regardless of what they're like.

True enough, but I don't really think DA2's going to win many awards. How it'll do against Skyrim and Witcher 2 is anyone's guess, but in any hypothetical instance where things come down to it and ME3, I picture the latter winning hands down every time.

About them elves, I think I know what those freaks look like. Like the [censored] Navi or whatever was their name.

Here's hoping for a mod that rescales them into something more... normal.

I think it mainly depends on the cunning score

Yup, it's simpler than in Origins. Rogue with 10 cunning can open and disarm easy chests and traps, with 20 average chests and traps and so on. One of the loading screen tips says this. They removed the skills (survival, poison making, potion making, lockpick, etc)

Haven't seen any yet. All talent trees have only combat specific stuff in them. Though if you have correct companions with you for certain events, you can have them convince other people.

Nope.

I just realised why that ogre in the demo pisses me off.
Aveline has a [censored] stupid AI, she just stands there doing nothing, I have to constantly use her, then the pgre chases ebtany and my rogue decides to take on the ogre, damnit why is the AI so [censored] dumb.

Yea, I ended up soloing it with my mage because the rest of the party refused to move. That's when I noticed how severely nerfed mages were. I laugh at all the guides recommending you bring a mage - the warriors and rogues have superior cc AND DPS.

I do just fine with mages.

party:

Hawke (rogue)
Fenris
Merril
Anders (or Bethany)

So far I have slaughtered everything in my path without a party wipe and never losing more than one member at any given encounter, if one is to be lost. I even made that Mature Dragon (not sure if its a High Dragon) my [censored].

(playing on Normal btw)

Yeah y rogue was dying alot, so I just had bethany run around in circles shooting the ogre, aveline just never moved, so annoying.

I reccomend waiting for the ultimate edition, and after reading the BW forum from people who own the game (they registered DA2) they reccomend not buying at all. Lots do anyway.

But personally I like the rogue, he looks better, and he is my usual character, but in DA2 he is just so weak, I say mage, if all else fails run around in circles waiting for fireball to recharge.

Rat, running around in circles waiting for spells to recharge is even more painful in the full game. Cooldown timers were halved for the demo.

I'd rather play a WoW mage than a DA2 mage, and I hate playing WoW mages.

Wait halved for the demo, you mean the exagirated part right ?

Have they buffed rogues in the full game (the demo was pretty much flashy papercuts).

Yeah, I noticed that too. They move around and attack in the full game, but their still incredibly stupid. Which is why, when fighting
Spoiler
a mature dragon at the Bone pit, I had to kill it by running around and shooting it with spells during its attack animations. (suffered a party wipe) The thing was incredibly easy to dodge because of its inability to strike accurately as long I kept moving.

Nope. I mean the non-exaggerated part. From what I've been reading in the Bioware's forum, dual-wield rogue plays much better in the full game.

@ Darth - that problem is still in the full game?!!! I've read you have to disable tactics in the demo to fix the AI problem.

I couldnt even fix that in the demo, I hate this UI, I couldnt find the tactics.
While I am happy DW rogues are buffed up a bit mages sound terrible, and this means now I get to spam A for twice as long, yeah awesome combat BW.

I knew I missed something. Forgot a thought or two in my post.

edit: sry for the confusion, left out a sentence. Anyway, AI is bad, but there in the full game. It takes an assload of micromangement to keep aggro on the tank when fighting bosses.

I think I found another bug:

Spoiler
When doing the Enemies Among Us quest you will need to find Idunna. She is supposed to be in Hightown at night. She isn't. (xbox version)

Great. The combat is more intense but not as tactical, especially on consoles as BW misplaced the autoattack files when producing the discs.

The lore is awesome.

The save importer doesn't work correctly yet.

Lots of inconsistencies with DA:O end stories and DA2. It was retconned so that BW could put familiar faces in DA2.

Less skills that are more useful.

Lots of copy/paste areas, more than DA:O had.

Its a lot more difficult, even with friendly fire gone.

This must depend very much on which class you use, which companions you use, and how you build your character. I find it to be one of the easiest games I've played in a long time, and I'm playing on the second highest difficulty.
