I have also noticed a weird bug that has occurred a couple of times in the magistrate's son quest:

The cursor sometimes will not let me select enemies or areas of effect for spells/talents. I have to keep switching characters to get the regular cursor back. Twice I had to exit and restart the game because of this.

I agree that Varric is the best written and voiced character I have come across. I really enjoyed Flemeth, in both games. I wonder if they'll make a prequel where you play as Flemeth on how she ended up in Thedas. I think she comes from that Mirror Realm that Morrigan went into.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add that I loved Flemeth's entrance(s) and her looks in this game. Bad.Ass.

If you haven't yet tried playing a few battles by constantly pausing and controlling all the party members, I'd recommend giving it a shot, as it's lots of fun and retains that tactical side to the combat from DA:O.

It is a lot more challenging than DA:O, however, especially on Hard/Nightmare levels.

EDIT: Regarding mages, on the harder difficulty settings, they seem to be a bit more balanced vs. DA:O, as I find it difficult to keep my mages alive, especially vs. enemies with any sort of knock down ability. Long cooldowns for healing spells and potions are a major improvement to the game balance.

I do pause a lot, that is exactly what I did in DAO as well. I think the thing here is the splashiness of ALL the combat. Maybe that's because the skills were pared down so that you basically have all the big guns at the low levels, so to speak. At level 9 my mage has three or four HUGE crowd control spells, with uber special effects - by the time my mage rolls out chain lightening and the ground tremor, Varric has shot his rain of arrows and the exploding arrow, Merrethil or whatever her name is has walking bombed someone, and has some swirly effect going around her, and my warrior is zipping around through the air from enemy to enemy. But it almost feels hyper speed or something. I don't hate it, or anything, it just feels a bit out of control though, if that makes sense.

I will say though, as I was curious - if you set the level to casual, the battles are actually laughably easy. I did that for a battle with on one of the side quests and although it was several waves of mobs, we mowed through them in mere seconds. It was pretty funny.

Wow can't believe what's going on at the Bioware forums, thank god Bethesda forums won't go to [censored] like that. Right?

Well, that's there, this is here. And we don't really want to get get into problems of other forums on this one. And of course you have the awesome, kind-hearted, treat-baking, puppy-hugging moderating team over here, to keep things all warm and friendly-like. Right? RIGHT? :stare:

I cant I disagree with them witholding content to bleed more money out of me.

However when playing the game you won't notice anything is missing. If anything the add-ons clearly do not belong in the game.

Spoiler
I entered Bartrands home only to find myself playing as Varric in a parody of Scarface. The the Seeker scolded him for embellishing the truth. Awesome! :D

I think he meant that it's a page full of ads to buy other crap for DA2. Unless he meant to link to something else, in which case ignore this response. :)

I completely agree.

Some have complained that "half the game is missing," but I would hardly consider an extra merchant + a few in-game trinkets + one extra companion to be "half the game."

One other pet peeve on DA2 - - the fact that you can't pick what armor pieces your party members can wear. That was a lame decision and clearly based on the time factor, not looking at what the player might want to do. At least they let you toggle the damn helm this time.

I am sort of in two minds over the Elven remake, but on the balance, I think I like it.

Yeah, they included the "Personal Annoyance Remover" and "No Helmet Hack" mods in the game this time :D

Care to elaborate please

BTW: playing the game so far, It doesnt feel like ME2, I mean, its far more enternaining and its STILL a RPG, unlike ME2, where most of the time was shooter over RPG

You can't change party members armor, only Hawkes. You can find upgrades for their armor though. So if you find armor that isn't your class, sell it.

The more I read these threads, the less I want to get this game. But I did like DA1 a lot, so I think I'll wait for the DA2 'ultimate edition' to be released and reduced in price before getting it. I'm not in a hurry. :P

Sometimes I wonder what things would've been like if EA hadn't bought Bioware. Probably a lot less pointless DLC then.

Except that ME2 had fun shooting/magic combo combat, and DA2 has the same combat as DAO, but faster and with more flourishes. The "action" combat is nowhere near as good as an actual action game like DMC.

Basically, I liked ME2 for what it was. DA2 shuns what it was, but doesn't do it particularly well. There's and IGN article where Inon Zur stated that DA2 was rushed out. Too lazy to find it, but yeah. I don't remember anyone saying that ME2 was rushed.

tl;dr: ME2>DA2

That's my main problem with the combat in DA2. If Bioware really wanted to shift into the action-RPG genre, they should have gone all the way.

So I just read the story about the guy that couldn't validate his install because he was banned on the BW Forums for comments that BW didn't like. Banning from the BW Forums means you cannot access your game and the BW employee that was asked about this basically said "Disagreeing with us is bad".

Is there a class action lawsuit in there somewhere if this happens to more people that are upset with BW?

If there isn't, there should be. BW basically stole $60 from the dude because he disagreed with their business practices.

Actually, that's the only reason why anyone is banned from any forum. The moderators dissaproved of the comment/user conduct, for whatever reason, valid or not. (It's just forums put up rules which codify the things the moderators don't like, or codify the rules on conduct, etc.)

Yeah. Good thing nothing like this ever happened when any Bethesda game was newly released. Yep.

I've been reading the Bioware forums. I think their mods don't have the tools that we do here, and I know their report button svcks. Reporting a post doesn't report the post; it reports the thread. So the mods have to go hunting to find the reported problem. More than one of the mods over there has told me that sending a pm with a link to the problem to one specific moderator works much better than using the report button. And although it takes an admin to ban someone here, we can do other things to attempt to keep the problem under control.

Personally, I don't think the forums were that bad, even when it was Fallout 3, and the people who held very strong opinions about the first two games were here.

It was a warzone in that time

Anyway, considering the "kind" of person who normally post in Bioware Forums at this hard times, it is normal :P

Yeah I'm not getting DA2.

Nothing I've seen or heard indicates it will be anything I like.

And the demo svcked really bad.

It's too bad really. DA:O was such an awesome game. And they just..... ruined it all IMO.

Plus, Shogun 2 is out in 4 days. That gets my money instantaneously. :P

Remember that people very seldom tell the truth about what they did that got them in trouble. We've seen some of the reasons people give as to why they got in trouble here when they post on other forums the mods also go to, and it is face-palm/heavy sigh inducing at the best, blood-pressure raising at the worst. That person admitted he had done some other things besides making that one statement. It was the "other things" that caused the problem. For what its worth, which probably isn't much, here's the Community rep's post about it.

Chris Priestly wrote...

AlesMrak wrote...

Banning paying customer from playing his game for saying something like : Bioware have sold their soul to the EA devil, is just nuts ...

That was not why he was banned. He was banned for using profanity in a different post.

Take a look around. Many people call us names. They aren't banned.

This guy triggered an alert for his profanity and, due to an error, was unfairly banned.

Still, hopefully it is sorted now. {smilie}
