Dragon Age: Origins, Awakening & DA2

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 12:02 pm

Yeah I guess your right, but DAO is bigger so there is more places to explore.

I haven't finished the game yet, but so far, I think the devs have set up a very cool game world and art palette, with balanced gameplay mechanics, engaging story and characters in DA2. Where it falls short for me is the poorly executed side quests where a random person gives you gold.

Looking forward to the release of a good expansion to flesh out some deep quests and expand the story to new (non-recycled) area maps.

Nope! :)

EDIT: You have to go to a website and give them your code for the Black Emporium, then it gives you a code to redeem in your EA Download Manager, and then you can download it. At 75% right now.

aye, Its funny that the free PC version of mass effect 2 doesn't even have cerberus network with it, its like a veiled apology to the PC gamer sprinkled with a middle finger.

Funny Bioware offers free product yet nobody is telling them "Look at what you did to DA2". What a bunch of morons you won't be able to change the series if you get svckered in by free candy.

... Damn thats pathatic then. Not only do they need to compensate for a bad game by adding another game, but the "loyal fan" stuff is BS, surely most loyal fans would have this already.

I'm a loyal fan, but I didn't have a PC copy of Mass Effect 2 yet (I like to play rpgs on my 360 first, the Dragon Age series being the main exception).

Ok, I seriously don't understand this. Why is everyone so pissed off by BioWare offering ME2 for free alongside DA2?

Not me I like free games / stuff.

I think I've kinda hit a brick wall with this game. Just have no motivation to finish anymore. I won't stone DA2 with my cruel, cruel words but jeez.

I'm almost glad I wasn't a crazy die hard DA:O. I'd be weeping while gaming. Oops, one stone I guess.

Is this game really that bad for so many people?

What the hell am I, a minority?!

Wait, that... came out wrong.

I'm not so much pissed as I am laughing at an obvious act of desperation.

I was enjoying till the end of act 2. The sheer repetition got to me. I was pretty much like the game besides that. Re-re exploring an area was too much for me to bear. My game time is @ 50 hrs, so i gotta lot of game time out of it.

They feel that BW is screwing them over by giving away ME2 for free, when lots of people already had ME2.
Others just find it pathetic how desperate they are getting to sell games.

Giving it to people who already bought DA2 doesn't seem like a winning strategy if they are desperate, though.

Exactly what I wanted to say. They're not just giving ME2 for free to people who bought DA2 later than a certain date - anyone owning DA2, having bought it whenever, can obtain ME2 for free. If it's all just about "ONOZ mommy, those bad BioWare guys are letting other people have ME2 for free when I already bought it!", then the only thing I can say about that is that that attitude is a load of childishly jealous crap. Valve offered Portal for free through Steam a while ago and no one had a problem with that, neither by claiming that they're "getting desperate to get people to install and use Steam" nor that "they're giving it to people for free when others already paid to own it."

I payed for the Collector edition of ME 2 Preordered it. I'd be pissed too if they turn around and give it out free, just to promote DA2 because it is tanking with most of the DA fans.

Then you can re-read my post above. Why wasn't anyone pissed when Valve offered Portal for free, but instead everyone was joyful and generally "YAY VALVE!!!"-y? What, did everyone just have a pirated version of Portal before that and was delighted to finally own a legal copy? I mean, what am I missing here?

I don't understand why so many people dislike DA2, in my opinion it is an amazingly fun game that keeps me entertained from start to finish. :(. It saddens me that people are so disappointed with it.

Good job BioWare for making a great game :). Anyways I am glad that I got my copy of ME2 for like ten bucks, I would be pissed that I bought it full price to find out that they are giving it away!

So it's just generally "When Valve does it they're awesome, when BioWare does it they svck"?

Dragon Age 2 was suppose to correct the mistakes that Origins had but Bioware instead went a different route, a "You press a button and something awesome happens" Route. I'm thinking that once the patches come out for DA2 and more DLC also comes out then DA2 will be back to a decent game but not on a level that Origins was on. Going the route of a voiced character is not always the best route. It works for Mass Effect but I don't think it'll work too well in the DA universe.

More generally, it's "If a company I like does it, it's okay. If a company I don't like does it, their bastards ripping me off." Anyway, I'm not really upset about this. ME2 is only 20 bucks now, anyone buying it now is going to spend less to get everything then I did. Doesn't matter to much if ME2 is 20 bucks cheaper for DA2 purchasers. (still gotta buy dlc right?)

Yeah, it doesn't come with any dlc. :( Still, beggars can't be choosers, eh? :)

EDIT: If I had already bought Mass Effect 2 PC, I would be a little bummed that I could have gotten it for free, but I wouldn't be pissed at Bioware. It would be more of a cursing fate sorta thing. :P
