Dragon Age: Origins & Awakening

Post » Tue Mar 16, 2010 8:48 pm

Unmodded, as far as I know the game has no nudity, all characters have underwear. There are "romance" scenes, but nothing is "revealed" (and you don't have to pursue any romance anyway.)

I merged your thread with the active Dragon Age topic.

Oh yah I got confused when I saw this here!

Then what does it mean when they say "partial nudity"?

Well there is a rare creature called a Desire Demon. They wear nothing above the waist but a chain that just barely covers their nipbles. You don't see anything, but nothing about their "wardrobes" leaves much to the imagination.

There is, however, one particular enemy with some very...humanoid briasts that are not covered at all. And they are not pretty.

Hey, you guys wanted to see nipbles, well, dammit, you got them. Quit complaining.

I forgot about the desire demons. There is also one NPC who has tree branches and hair strategically placed, but she's a figure of nature, so it doesn't seem gratuitous or anything.

So I picked up DAO and Awakening for the PC since they were on sale on Steam, but, disappointingly, the textures are even blurrier than the PS3 version, and I have the graphics and texture settings turned up as high as they go. Is this common? I mean, I went through DA Nexus, and found 4Aces HiRes pack, but the vanilla screens show in the comparisons are far sharper than http://members.cox.net/canus/Gal_202.jpg. Any ideas?

In Catalyst Control Center, or whatever it is for Nvidia, make sure Mipmap is on quality rather than performance.

Kinda disappointed in the Dwarf Commoner story, when you reach Orzammar. I didn't like the fact that
Spoiler
You couldn't even convince Leske to take up your side. Hell you could have put him in place of the lady leader. Your best friend is head of the Carta. Thats what I wanted all along, I would have given him my sister too had I gotten the oppertunity

There really isn't any nudity in the game, the reason it says partial nudity is because some characters wear skimpy clothing but it doesn't actually show anything.

Yup, and if you back off, you are missing out on a really good game!

Just reinstalled the game, and mods, and the game looks amazing fully maxed on a 1080P monitor.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but with the newest patch, I'm not getting any issues. No crashes, and finally no more memory leaks.

Oh, you'll crash eventually. They're not as common as they can be in say, Oblivion, but they're there. My first game, completed long before patch 1.03 was released, lasted for 100 hours with not one CTD. My second game, post 1.03, had probably about 20 over the 80 hours it lasted.

I concur. Playing on a high end PC the game used to run flawlessly before patch 1.03 even after long sessions but post patch 1.03 the game has become a crash fest in certain areas. They released this patch just to add compatibility for the expansion and almost ruined the game. It is a shame that 3-4 months later they still haven't released a patch to fix any of the issues while at the same time they release one pointless DLC after the other.

I've been very lucky, apparently, the 1.03 doesn't crash for me except in one spot so far.
The quest in the Fade to kill the demon woman who possessed the little boy.
After beating her and she drops down dead, the game will lock up. :(

While I do have a scant few mods loaded, I'm not entirely certain how they could cause this particular problem.
I'm willing to reload it a long time back, and redo the quest and just kill the kid, at least that way some people will be happy with me. :) (Seriously, not killing the kid is a bad thing to Alastir and the Rogue lady?) Gah! Alatair isn't a bloodthirsty barbarian. :( He didn't even complain when I didn't kill the mage. And he hates mages. :)

Then you can't give her money. (I assume you're trying to give her money to leave Redcliffe, you only have the option to do that if Lloyd dies).

Unless you have him fight in the battle of Redcliffe I don't think so. I actually had him survive and he gave me this nice ring.

First make sure you convince him to fight, otherwise he is pretty weak just let him fight and don't help him if he is getting attacked. You might be able to attack him yourself but I don't know, I've never tried it.

Alistair and Leliana don't consider not killing Connor a bad thing, what they have issues with is your sacrificing of Isolde for a Blood Magic ritual.

Also, Al doesn't hate mages, he's just uneasy around them (especially apostates), which most people in Thedas are. He hates Morrigan with a passion, but likes Wynne.

What's "CC" (other than Crowd Control)?
