Dragon allies during the civil war?

Post » Sat Sep 27, 2014 2:28 pm

I'd like to know if anyone else has done this.

After getting a quest to clear out an enemy fort you travel to a dragon lair, use Bend Will, ride the dragon, fast travel there and start raining fire on their army.

I find that incredibly satisfying.

I could only imagine their reaction.

A stormcloak and an Imperial soldier are fighting, when suddenly they hear wings flapping.

The dragon turns towards one of them and the poor guy thinks:

"I can't believe it..."

Works better by summoning one, IMO.

Nothing like having either Odahviing or Durnehviir coming and ruining everyone's day with hellfire. There's also something poetic about doing it while defending/capturing Whiterun.

Once I had the misfortune of having one come while capturing a fort. It was chaotic. (Keep in mind this was with Requiem installed. I had to reload A LOT)

That's equally enjoyable.

I just find that there's something sweet about giving every command yourself.

Definitely poetic, especially if it's Odahviing.

I tried taking out an imperial camp on dragon back. they shot me down. :(

but a fort battle would be epic. I have called Odahviing to help clear a camp before.

But the thought of collateral damage using one on a fort... I'm sure who ever your fighting with appreciates friendly fire lol

I did it before. And satisfying as it was, I don't really do it anymore during the Civil War. Given that my characters who join in on these events tend to be honourable, I think it would be more fair to keep higher power out of it.

That said, I'd totally use it on random bandit forts for the lols.

That's tricky, ha ha.

But still doable, just make sure to save first.

And don't dismount the dragon before it's all over. Otherwise Bend Will wears off and mayhem starts.

One way to know your target isn't too close to your friends is watching if his hp isn't going down. If it is, that means they're fighting (sometimes they're just moving around or shooting arrows).

That and a bit of luck...good chance of things working out alright.

I haven't tried doing the civil war on dragonback before, but it sounds highly entertaining. I call Odahviing during it all the time though, he's arguable been more instrumental in the war effort than I, as the Dragonborn, have been.

A long description doesn't mean difficulty.

The dragon instantly ceases fire as soon as the target is dead, so friendly fire doesn't necessarily happen.
