Dragon are a disappointment

They have dumb ai. Half the time they dont even see me and just fly off. They are a step down from the E3 demos. They never randomly pick up giants, or anything for that matter.

Actually I was fighting a group of bandits one time, and one swooped down and picked up the one who was right in front of me and dropped him. I thought for a second "Did that dragon just help me out?" then he breathed fire on me, so I realized he just wanted to be the one to kill me.

I don't know...I have seen them get into fights with other dragons and get into fights with bandits and even mammoths.

I think once a dragon ignored me....

They did that so low level characters won't constantly die by dragons

Dragons:

Land too much
Have no armor, and are made of paper
Melee doesn't stagger or kick you back
Melee is too slow
Don't use enough shouts
Stagger too much, and take too long to recover from stagger
Don't have enough resistances
Are too focused on attacking everything that is not the player
Stay stationary for too long
Don't try to corner the player
Spawn too often
Drop more souls and materials than we know what to do with

Dragons from Monster Hunter are more fearsome and challenging, and they are just animals in that game series, not intelligent like the Elder Scrolls dragons are supposed to be.

Dragons are too easy to defeat and not one of them used a dragon shout in combat

Also there are too many of them if you fast travel alot. I would rather there be less tougher dragons who used different attacks. Each type of dragon should use different tactics and this doesnt just mean the type of attack they use like flame or frost

They're pretty damn cool. They have the best AI in the game in my opinion. They never get stuck with pathing and if they come close to it they just start flying again. I've even seen a Dragon in Blackreach! That was pretty cool. Felt like an old-style D&D dungeon with a dragon.

Game does need better AI for it's other monsters. i'm sure that will get modded to awesome affect as it did with FCOM in Oblivion. Hell, the AI improvements from that super-mod compilation were so good I still have long memorable stories of things that took place and how my character survived them.

Pretty much this.

I enjoy the encounters that I have with those bad-ass~Dragons!
Sometimes they disappear when you go in or out of places.
However, When you get attacked by a Dragon out in the
middle of nowhere, and have to fend for yourself! Prepare to
have a fight of your life!
My bad English is my Second enemy....
Guess what my First one is,

For those of you who are saying Dragons are too easy. Did any of you realize that you are Dragonborn? You are made by the gods to kill dragons. Therefore you are really good at killing dragons. Dragons die by your hand easily. How else can I put this?

You kick dragon ass and chew bubblegum.

Although I do agree about the loot being superfluous(I wish dragonbone weapons could have been added). With that being said the AI actually acts really well. Who's to say that a dragon can't just choose to just fly off and not finish combat, no one said that they were relentless beings without fear. I love it when that happens, but I also encounter dragons at least weekly(in game time) so I am never at a loss for dragon souls. I do find that when they attack the townships they die very quickly compared to just me fighting them, but I would say it would be normal considering they have 50+ guards firing pointy sticks at them. But if I wanted super hardcoe dragon fights where I would get one shot and have to reload the same save multiple times I would just play on master. Of course if you want frustratingly difficult combat I suggest you play Darksouls instead, it's still a fantasy game with dragons and you will die. A lot.

Kind of off topic but too many people are putting Skyrim on a pedestal of what their expectations were/are. Personally all of my expectations came true.

It is the first time that this kind of combat system has been put into a game. Just keep that in mind when you write your "THIS GAME svckS BECAUSE IT DIDN'T MEET THE IMPOSSIBLE EXPECTATIONS THAT I HAD FOR IT! I HATE BETHESDA!" threads and posts.

Thing is though, most of the dragons I encounter are killed by random NPC's. City guards just destroy them. They land in front of Giants standing next to a herd of mammoths and wait to get clubbed in the face while I stand back and calmly shot arrows into their flank. They should just be tougher.

The dragons are pretty uninteresting to fight. The dragon priests are more of a challenge.

All you have to do to kill a dragon is get into a small space for cover and shoot them with spells and arrows in between breath attacks till they die. I have yet to fight a dragon when this kind of cover wasn't available.

the random dragon encounters are a fantastic reason to stay as far away from the main quest as possible. i swear it's kinda amazing they found a more annoying randomly generated thingy besides oblivion gates.

I have to agree.

Perhaps I just haven't been in the right places or situations, but dragons are too predictable when they land.

This may be just me playing dirty, but in between power-attack staggers and Unrelenting Force, I lock them down to the point that the only difference between this strategy is how much health a given dragon has.

And for the OP, what level are you? because at level 50 youll start seeing bronze Ancient Dragons and they have much more HP and stronger attacks. same deal but much harder.

And I make my fights entertaining, that also helps.

I think the dragons are done very well. They are the toughest thing in the game for me to beat, and they don't attack too often.

Then again, I'm not power leveling so they still provide me some difficulty.

I do not think anybody can come up with one.

These dragons are the best ever put into a game sure they fly off a lot. So what they have wings and that is a tactic. They seem to handle themselves pretty well. i have also seen dragons that fly above me. One flew over me in a forest and went in the mountains. These are the best dragons ever put into a game.

I dunno, those dragons are giving me the run around. I am finding them challenging enough and half the time without potions and a place to hide I would be toast. Also the animations are great!

Problem is they are all pretty much the same and are mostly too easy; only difference is in their breath weapon; other then that they are all identical... first couple of encounters are fun, after that they get old fast.

I have no idea what Dark Souls has to do with anything. There not awesome as much as they are funny do to the dragon never seeing me and getting killed by guards.

It's like I predicted before the game came out: dragons are the brilliant combination of Oblivion Gates and cliffracers. And, unlike Oblivion Gates and exactly like cliffracers, they NEVER STOP SPAWNING.
