Dragon armor makes me look like an idiot.

the armor looks great on my argonian WITHOUT helmet. but all helmets that are not closed look [censored] on beastraces.

since my argonian is an warrior with sword and shield i don't need a helmet anyways. it does look great. my argonian got a dark skin fitting perfectly with the dragon armor.

daedric is evil so my character won't wear it. and actually.. on my argonian ebony is one of the worst armors. hell.. i even prefered the orc armor over it and it's called to be "strong and ugly" by the npcs. means already a lot.

sooo.. dragon armor without a helmet is great. don't know about human races though.

I not happy about the lack of armor looks, but then again there are so many other problems to solve before we even get into the aesthetics that I can't say I can get up much rage over it.

In an ideal world three would be two or three "style variations" for each class or armor. Then there would be a sliders for hue/color, dullness/shininess, and new/damaged. That means Imperial armor might have a nine different types four light styles, four heavy styles, and one "Commander" rank armor that is ranks up like light armor or heavy armor.

The problem is the whole ENGINE would need to work different since the reason why there are just a few looks to the armor is that Bethesda wanted a quick way to render all the armor on the fly very simply without taking up enormous resources. It all comes down to the antiquated and byzantine way Bethesda makes it engines...it all brute force table reading. All the problems come from their engine and all improvements people would like will come from tossing all their concepts of engine design in a dumpster.

I still wear legendary fur.

I wonder how many of us there are? Fur is the absolutely coolest looking armor in the game. Leather is pretty well done as well, for heavy I like the steel, iron and steel plate. Coincidentally the steel weapons are also my favoite. How freakin cool is the scabbard for a steel sword?

The fantastical looking colorful armors and weapons are just not my cup of tea.

First, the advantage of getting to 300 smithing is not making the armors, it's being able to upgrade the armors. As for the heavy armors I put them on Lydia and my favorite so far is the Daedric. I didn't really care for the look of the Dragon armor and I don't get why it isn't the strongest considering it's on top of the perk tree. Even the light elven armor is better. Some of the stats they give to things make no sense like how a one handed ebony sword is more powerful than a 2 handed ebony sword. Why did they do stuff like that?

I think it's because you have perks in light armor and one handed. It's the same for me. If you invest perks in increase light armor and one handed then those armors and weapons will be stronger (for you) than heavy armor and two handed. The game calculate the strenght of the weapon/armor with regards to your personal stats.

I like the dragonscale armor and was glad when I could get it so I could retire the gaudy glass stuff.

I think the Dragonbone looks cool on men, especially Nord men. The only trouble I have is that the Dragonscale is a little too skin-tight for the self-respecting male adventurer. It looks good on females though.

You kidding me? My womanizing Bosmer prettyboy gets all the chicks with that look.

My only complaint about Dragon armor is why the rest of it doesn't look as cool as the helmet.

Pretty much everything passed steel equipment, except orc equipment, makes you look like an idiot.

I really hate the way the Dragon Armor looks, both heavy and light. I don't get why they made so many of the other armors look so awesome, but made the most important armor (in terms of significance, being made from dragons in a game about dragons and all) look so dumb. I'm always rocking the Daedric Armor. I just got the Nightingale Armor last night and that looks pretty killer too, I might look into upgrading that to a proper defense level.

Yeah... Many of the high-end armors in this game look "unfortunate", to be diplomatic about it. Luckily they've designed the game so that you can survive perfectly well using "lower-tier" armors, to use a MMORPG-ism. The smithing & armor skill perks make it possible to hit the armor cap with basic armors.

completely disagree I love Dragon armor, both heavy and Light versions. I think the armor they did in skyrim looks way better then anything they came up with in Oblivion, especially the daedric armor.

Couldn't possibly agree more. They've mostly gone with low-fantasy feel for the art design. I wish they'd done that with weapons and armor too. Except the Daedric one of course. That's supposed to look like no sane person would ever wear it.

I find Dragonplate armor fine, as it's made of bones. Hell, with the looks of teh bones that you see in inventory, I'm amazed the Dragonborn can make a plate out of that.

The helmet, however, is an entirely different matter. Good thing a mod exists that switches it to Jagged Crown

Still, for the most badass look, look no further than Daedric Armor with glowing eyes.

the style of the game seems to influenced by wow with it's cartoonish aesthetic
some of my coworkers who play wow says skyrims design reminds them alot of wow

but yeah dragon armor is the fugliest armor in the game, looks like somethng out of a corny 80s anime and a football pads

personally I like the ebony the best, nightingale is cool, and the hood dragon priest masks look awesome
Then why don't we have more armor slots?
WOW has boots, trousers, top, helmets and gloves, it also have bracers together with gloves and belt. for non armor it has cape, amulet, two rings also two trinkets and an relic if you don't use ranged.

A bit more serious will say high end Skyrim armor looks more like wow than in Oblivion, low end armors looks different.

I would also have enjoyed more armor slots. It adds to the variety of what you can do to make your character unique and interesting. It also makes things more interesting and flexible as far as enchants and skill boosts go.

Haven't acquired it yet. Have seen it in screenshots, though. Not impressed. Maybe I change my mind once my character dons some.

The other day, I got the Dragon armor perk by making 500000000 iron knives. I excitedly went and fetched my collection of Dragon bones and whatnot and set about smithing up a bunch of dragon armors.

I put it on and my excitement was quickly replaced by "Oh..."

That's right, I looked like a tick turd.

Now I have reverted to Ebony because its the only armor that doesn't make me look like a walking clothes rack.

In my opinion, ALL armor should be customisable at least down to colour and markings.

Does anyone agree?
it looks okay, definitely not the best that i have seen

Not sure what you're looking at but Daedric looks fantastic.

It looks like you'd impale your own head with the shoulder spikes trying to swing your arms at something. The dremora might not care, since they'll get reborn straight away anyway, but humans and mer are slightly more fragile.

If you are going to go down the smithing route then let's GO DOWN THE SMITHING ROUTE!!! and allow people to make totally unique armor and by that I mean armor that you alone can make.

Sounds practical. I'll just imagine how it looks like, because no one can draw meshes for that.

I love the way Dragon Bone armor looks, just not the helm so much, I wish there were more bone in the helm or if it were a drain skull of something, it wouldn't make sense but it would look cool.
