Dragon armor makes me look like an idiot.

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 6:55 pm

I dislike the color, and the helmet.. other than that I don't mind it too horribly.

My favourite is Dwarven armor by far.

My heavy armor characters usually wear dwarven or dragon.

I think dragon looks cool. I also like Deadric, Orcish and Ebony. Can't stand Dwarven, however.

You don't really need high level armor to do well in this game though. At any rate, depending on your toon, it might not even be good for you. Stealthy heavies should (if you have the heavy perk for bonus armor on set) probably stick to ebony and grab Boethia's quest reward.

Helmets, you can do whatever with. The masks look pretty cool to me and that's probably what you'll wear anyways.

I don't particularly HATE dragonplate armor, but I love the Companions' wolf armor (minus the helmet), so I'm generally wearing that on my heavy armor user.

As far as light armor goes, so far I like scale the best (again, minus the helm. Helms in this game... :yuck: ). I wear a Diadem of the Savant (counts as light armor for some reason) for the bonuses.

i stop at scaled armor since glass armor looks even bulkier than the heavier armors and looks about as sneaky as those orange vests that hunters use. i dont like ebony because the textures they use are really flat and dull. my favorite armors are just regular steel and the orcish looks pretty decent as well. ebony, glass dragonbone etc all look like something out of WoW. if i wanted to play a cartoon game then i would be playing WoW instead of skyrim.

I like the dragon armors. They look like they came off of a dragon; very primal and savage, yet somewhat civilized.

I'm serious, i cannot see ANYTHING but the back of my head in 3rd person. i have given up even caring what i look like, as i can't see myself. and the NPC's don't care.
I either play looking at the back of my head or with the camera on the ground in 1st person. It's very annoying.

Sheath your weapons, swtch to 3rd person view, and pan your camera around.

On the PC just move your mouse left or right. I have no clue about the console versions.

Eh, to each their own. I like both dragon armors, personally. But my absolute favorite is the Scaled armor, which I'm still wearing at level 52. And I love that smithing allows the 'lesser' armors to still be useful later in the game--my Reachman's going to be wearing that fur kilt all the way to his destiny. :3

If you don't like the Dragon plate set, just don't wear it. Sell that svcker off for some shiny, clinky gold. Daedric has higher stats, anyway, so I hear. :)

Edit: Dtzone, if you're on the PC, use the scroller on your mouse to pan the 3rd person camera close or far. I think someone above had advice for console zooming.

Think about that: Almost everything in this life is reciprocal.

Wearing dragon armor you look like a idiot.
So, let's follow the rethoric.

Wearing Idiot armor you look like a dragon.

Wearing idiot dragon you look like an Armor.

Wearing Armor you look like a idiot dragon.

Liking wearing dragon you look like a idiot armor.

So, following the logic:

Wearing dragon armor you're an idiot.
Dragons are idiot, then.
So, you're dragonborn.
That said, you're an IDIOTBORN.
Dragons are idiots.

THAT SAID,

Dragons that lies wearing armor "is" YOU.

This way we achieved the Soviet paradox.

in "reversal" russia, Armor wears dragon idiots!

Life is worthless.

In "reversal" russia. the arrow takes the adventure in it's knee!
And Dah fos Ru does YOU!
that was beautiful man

I made the armor and hated it. I loaded an earlier save and made a set of dragonscale. Nice enough stuff.

I like the armor the only thing I do not like is the helm mainly cause it looks nothing like the rest of the armor and the fact to that there is no [censored] dragon bone swords or axes :swear:

I stick to Dwarven with its quest perk AR boost. The boots are a bit clunky, but the rest looks great.

Couldn't possibly agree more. They've mostly gone with low-fantasy feel for the art design. I wish they'd done that with weapons and armor too. Except the Daedric one of course. That's supposed to look like no sane person would ever wear it.
It looks like you'd impale your own head with the shoulder spikes trying to swing your arms at something. The dremora might not care, since they'll get reborn straight away anyway, but humans and mer are slightly more fragile.

A very specific kind of character is required to pull that armour set off convincingly. :D
A year or two from now I'll probably finally get around to making a homicidal maniac; for that character, daedric is appropriate.

I wonder how many of us there are? Fur is the absolutely coolest looking armor in the game. Leather is pretty well done as well, for heavy I like the steel, iron and steel plate [...]

The fantastical looking colorful armors and weapons are just not my cup of tea.

For me, the best heavy armour is the plate steel armour and the best light armour is the forsworn armour (excluding the headdress, which looks good on women but not on men). Orc armour is decent, as are imperial (especially the heavy imperial helm; that thing's awesome) and hide. There's something about leather I don't like, though; I think the design is a bit too cluttered and bulky. Fur, on the right character, looks ... okay.

The higher tier stuff: no, thanks. Maybe when the CK comes out I'll try to make some decent meshes and textures for Elven, Dwarven, Glass and Dragon.

The boost's bugged though, and gives the bonus to all armors, not just Dwarven.

I eagerly raced out and got my Steel armour, then later on got a prettier set...then turned my nose up at plate then gave in and got it. I took a look at the other armours, and I haven't gone off plate.

With upgrades from smithing and heavy armour perks, it's a very viable outfit that doesn't look too bad (except for the 'winged victory' bikers helmet). Steel armour shows up my 'lack of stature' (no-one told me that imperials would be the runts in this place), wolf armour looks like it's about 5 sizes too large, and glass, eleven dwarven etc look garish and uuurrrrk....

Besides, it's a solid choice in armour so I'm told...by a bloke that took an arrow in the knee, I believe.

I think dragon scale armour looks ok on both males & females, dragonbone plate? well..
It did look pretty good on my female redguard, but I have seen pictures with it on a male and it does look rather bulky.
But I know well not to make a male and go down the heavy armor route, as nearly all of their sets look like they're made from Blizzard.

On the topic of armour being customizable: well I thought originally that was what this whole smithing deal was about.
That'd you buy or loot your armour and then take it to a forge to either find the schematics of it (but destroy it) or customize it.
Then if you wish, you could go down the general store, buy yourself a dye and soak any of the cloth pieces of your armour to change their colour.

That or if you wanted to change the armour colour itself, you'd buy alternative materials (malachite for green etc.) and reforge it using a schematic.
In this way you could have extremely unique combinations if you had the right materials or just enough septims to purchase them.
However this little pot dream didn't come true and there is no use in hoping for something that will just be even more simplified in the next game.

Now I have reverted to Ebony because its the only armor that doesn't make me look like a walking clothes rack.
I agree, Ebony Armor is the best looking in the game.

In my opinion, ALL armor should be customisable at least down to colour and markings.

Does anyone agree?
Sounds like a good idea to me.
