Dragon Burial Mounds anywhere other than Skyrim?

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 9:23 pm

As I was exploring in Skyrim, I came upon a few Dragon Burial sites.
And I was just wondering . . .
According to Lore, Dragon's were once widespread across Tamriel, But if they were widespread across the whole continent,
Why are the Burial Mounds only featured in Skyrim?
I have played Oblivion and can't really remember there being any Burial Mounds in Cyrodiil.
I know that Dragon's only really play there major role in the game Skyrim, But surely if they are tied up with the prophecies of the Elder Scrolls themselves, then their Burial Sites might have to have made an appearance in the previous games?
I'm just wondering, Does anyone have any information on why they only appear in the game Skyrim and not in the previous games of the Elder Scrolls series?
I appreciate as much information given as possible.

Thanks for your time!

As far as we know (I think), the Dragon Cult was only extant in Skyrim. The mounds were probably made by Nords, not dragons.

Just a guess and this may be wrong, but although the dragons were widespread over the land doesn't mean they were worshiped all over. They were gods to the ancient Nords in Atmora and Skyrim, other parts of Tamriel were at the time inhabited by beast-races or elves who may not have seen the dragons as gods, that doesn't mean that they didn't I'm just guessing here. Also it is said after the Dragon War, those who still served the dragons gathered the bodies up and buried them in mounds.
Hope that clears things up, if I forgot anything you are all welcome to add to it, but this what I think.

Also another possibility is that when Bethesda made Oblivion they hadn't even thought about Skyrim or dragon mounds until after or during Fallout 3.

Because they were unimportant to the game. It's the same reason you don't run into werewolves in Oblivion, even though they're there, or werebears in Skyrim. Plus, that bit of lore was likely not created (or fleshed out) until after Oblivion was developed.

The Dragon Cult was in Atmora, too.

The question was about Tamriel. Since we haven't been to bloody Atmora.
