Dragon Designs - What is your take?

Post » Mon Jul 29, 2013 10:11 am

In Skyrim's DLC, new dragons introduced by Bethesda were more unique and risky in their design than vanilla dragons. Legendary Dragons and Durnehviir had compound eyes. Revered Dragons had no teeth and strange spinal patterns. Serpentine Dragons were adorable had short snouts, jutting lower jaws, and smooth skin (scales?).

Do you like these more diversified dragon designs? Do they feel out of place? Would you like other dragons to go in that direction?

More dragon designs are always better, though I'd prefer they remain recognizable. Too bad there won't be any more new designs.

I was glad to see this game had more than just the generic dragons with 5 million spikes. The Blood Dragon for example, had more aquatic features that made them unique. Revered Dragons just look insane and different, which is a good thing.

I remember reading somewhere that the dragon designs would be more diverse than they are, but obviously that isn't true.

I would have loved to see stranger designs for them, like the supposed "eel-like" dragon that was rumored to be in the game (I suppose those are Serpentine Dragons).

Still, they did a good job of diversifying the dragons' designs that are in-game. svcks that it's little more than cosmetic, though. Maybe if they had different shouts depending on the type, a la Revered/Legendary dragons who have the Drain Vitality shout.

Being one of Jyggylag, I like order. I don't like the super out-there designs TBH, my favorite dragon types would have to be just the basic "Dragon" breed, Frost dragons, and Ancient+Elder ones. I strongly dislike serpentine and Revered dragons.

To me the Legendary dragons look a bit...dorky. The horns and all, they look so unintimidating.

A good combination of both is good IMO.

I liked the weirdness my self, graned i think tes needs to be more out there instead of waiting for the expansions to sneak it into the games. I kinda wished they made dozens of variants of each type of dragon so you rarely saw the exact same creature for an encounter

I like the Revered and Serpentine Dragons. Odahviing and Durnehviir look pretty sweet as unique dragons as well.

Always cool to see more, although Skyrim is done. But if it wasn't, I wouldn't mind unique kinds as long as they don't look too out of there.

There was no option in the first question for "Any of these designs would be cool to see in Skyrim, so long as they are done right". So I voted for more fish-dragons. :P

Dragons that are actually dragons, not just drakes.

They developed cooler stuff for the DLCs 'cause they had more time in their hands than what they had to develop Skyrim, spitting it out unfinished.
