Dragon discussion

Don't care about your book nor for mine in particular.

More Items? Balanced Spell creation for example? improved Attribute system?

I think you don't have a grasp of things. I am talking about the big picture here, not only my personal preference. Any content anyone would want to add instead of dragons suffice.

There are more items than ever before, there are over 150 hand-crafted dungeons, and the Attribute system getting axed was a step in the right direction. Skill trees and dragon shouts are two other huge additions to the series besides dragons. This game has the most content of any TES game, bar none.

Why is this a poll? You clearly didn't want to ask a question.

The Dragons are the central plot point. That's the story the development team chose to tell. If you'd like it to be a different story next time, you should apply to write for Bethesda.

Open the flame gates....

Seriously though, the Dragon's are crucial to the story. I mean, its just like having Oblivion with no Oblivion Gates!

I'd actually prefer an Oblivion with no Oblivion gates, lol.

And I'd prefer more content over dragons.

But the thing is, MQ was never Bethesda's strong point, exploration and side-quests were, in my opinion. MQ is there because without one the game would become the Sims.

I came across this peculiar thought today and decided to make a thread about it.

So what if Bethesda had decided to focus their resources, time and skill elsewhere? Skyrim's Dragons obviously needed alot of time to model, animate and to make unique A.I. properties for them.

Personally I think dragons do not add much to Skyrim. Yes the story evolves around them, they look cool and add something unique to this game.

But do we really need dragons? I think the costs exceed the benefits in the case of dragons.

Since you know neither the costs nor the benefits of putting dragons in Skyrim, your entire post is just idle (and baseless) speculation.

But I'll bite anyway. I love that the Elder Scrolls is in many ways a non-typical fantasy world. Orcs have a place in accepted society, dark elves herd floating jellyfish, and Vikings know the wyrding way from Dune. I never thought that Morrowind or Oblivion would have been greatly enhanced by the addition of dragons, but neither was I opposed to it.

The biggest thing that I wanted to see in Skyrim was more random content. Oblivion and to a greater extent Morrowind had a lot of content that felt random the first time you saw it. Fallout 3 had some random encounters. But I want more of it, and a lot of it. I want bandits to try and rob me on the roads, I want farmers to beg me to save their daughter from goblins, and I want friggin dragons to drop out of the sky. Random, unscripted, and challenging are all characteristics I want Skyrim encounters to have, and dragons represent a good chunk of that.

Bethesda adds dual wield (feature) bethesda balances dual wield (balance) and people complain itl be useless and whatnot.

Makes me laugh at the thread. :whistling:

Anyway, dragons are cool, what makes you think beth would have used resources on what YOU WANT if dragons hadnt been in? Pretty selfcentered are we?

I don't bethesda has wasted RPG content on the Dragons, i mean from what we have seen so far it's an awesome game with a lot of depth and lots of cool stuff. i voted indecicive (bad spelling sorry but i am dyslectic and english is not my first language) because i want a middle way. not to much on the dragons but enough to make them epic and still lots of content
