Nah, add some biscuits and gravy, and sausage. That dragon egg will be delicious!

Agreed - especially the brilliant idea to use ballista's against infantry on an open field *facepalms*

And the magical duels would be HORRIBLE if it was like Eragon.

Player: "I cast fireball using the ancient language!"

Enemy Mage: "Warded!"

Player: "Dangit."

Enemy Mage: "I cast Lightning!"

Player: "Warded!"

Enemy Mage: "I QUIT!"

Seriously though, the Eragon series was really good at first - then went so downhill. And the movie? Turkish Starwars was better.

Well actually all of thats will be in
an ancient language in Skyrim already in, its Dragon Language
About casting Ward spell
Suddenly, magic duels become much more interesting, as you must attack at the opportune time, use the ward as a shield when your opponent is casting spells your way

But also rival mage can en garde player in Duel, so he can quit if cannot win I believe

About OP post
Seems Dragons in Skyrim have an mystical so they can even not lay eggs at all or do it in the same way as Argonian do,
but thats is moddable so can be added as loot to dragons as an rare ingredient along with scales, bones, eyes, blood, claws and fangs.
There is also highly possible chance of mod similar to
Reign of Fire: The attack of the dragons

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=mods.detail&id=2258
or dragon ride DLC from Bethesda.

Sounds like this could be a good idea, if done properly. In my opinion this dragon should NOT be the constant companion that was your dog in Fabe 2 and 3. Nor should it be a "teammate" as in Mass Effect or Dragon Age. Its been mentioned that you could summon a dragon to fight for you, perhaps this baby is that dragon?

Meh, not sure how intelligent the baby is upon birth, it could already know your it's enemy. Or it will assume, if your the first thing it sees, that your it's mother and you can let it tag along going on crazy adventures, solving mysteries, and beating up goons. However I'd bring it to whichever mage guild I decide to join and "donate" it for science, because as we all know, goons really just ask for it, they're goons; that sounds like they want a fireball in their face and I don't need a dragon baby for that.

You could kill it for a reduced portion of dragon materials that would normally drop from advlt counterparts. You could leave it be and gain a soothing feeling to your conscience. I think dragon eggs should be a part of the game, however any kind of interaction I can think of sounds cheesy. If anything, one, just one egg, for a special quest where you can donate it or whatever, or gain some sort of Easter Egg (hurr hurr) for the end of the main quest depending on what you do with it. I'd rather it wanted to kill me, so basically it's asking for a fireball-of-the-face variety.

Would rather they be "evil", so I can kill them without an after thought.

Just a WAG but I believe the dragons in Skyrim are called jills(Don't ask me why they are called that). The jills (as I understand it)assist the time god with maintaining time(Dragon breaks and whatnot).I dont think they are your typical fantasy dragon that lay eggs.

I had this idea, coincidentally, while playing Spyro: year of the dragon.
Basically, there would be this dragon egg that you could find in a randomly chosen spot in skyrim (perhapse a cave that would be picked by radiant story). This egg would obviously be guarded by a dragon that the player would have to kill. After slaying the beast, the player would then be able to approach the egg with whatever intent they wish, weather that be to examine it, or *BLANK*. However, as they get within a few feet of the egg, it suddenly starts to hatch, and a small baby dragon emerges. ( it would only be small compared to its advlt counterpart; compared to the player, it would probably be about half their size give or take)
Now, *BLANK* seeing it as a threat. They could continue their approach and perhaps give it a piece of food or whatever baby dragons eat, thus befriending it. Or they could simply stay back and observe it until they decide what to do with it.

If you befriend it, then after a few weeks of caring for it, it could aid you in battle in different ways. Perhapse there could be some self given quests that you can go on in order to teach your dragon how to do different things like maybe how to fly so it can aid you better in a fight with another dragon.

Oppinions? comments? suggestions? feedback?

Talking 'bout baby killing is 'gainst forum policy... mods you may ban the thread now.

Nah,

Cliche would be:

1) Having the baby stick to the finder's face and kill said finder
2) Having the baby put on a top hat, pick up a walking stick, and start dancing to "Hello my baby..."
3) The baby cries out NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
4) Baby states the its name is spanish in origin, and now the finder must prepare to die

Gah, I know there are more, but I just can't come up with them!

On topic, if the baby is so large, I'd like to see it try to eat the finder

I love this idea, but i think it should act like the dog in the fighter guilds, or the rat in the dark brotherhood. or more like the dog in fallout three, but if you have a dragon you shouldn't be able to have any other animals. and if it dies some how there should be another egg back where you found the first one, but will only hatch when you approach it, random colour patterns aswell would be cool. or diffrent breeds like ice dragon or shadow dragon.

maybe, but riding dragons in this seems a long shot....

although they did have a mod on oblivion that allowed you to ride a dragon. so its not that much of a long shot
