Dragon hunting

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 1:54 pm

I think dragon hunting would be a good feature in the game. Since dragons are said to be encountered random, i also think you should be able to seek them out.

- Rumors about possible dragon locations can be obtained from talking to people in the pub or listening into a discussion between npc's
- Following a track that might come from a dragon. Dead npc's or carcasses of animals can point you into the direction of a dragon.

This should not be something that can be repeatedly done for obvious game balance.

I think they should add something like this :)

These suggestions are nice but i think the huge soaring dragon in the sky is big enough to be hunted and seen don't you think?

Ok yeah fine, would be good.

Do the dragons have a lair or are they simply wandering the landscape the whole time? Do they rest, eat, sleep? Will we see a dragon devour a horse or drink from a lake???

These are things that would prob need to be in first if we are to have dragon hunting.

I'll be disappointed if ALL dragons, supposedly intelligent creatures, are generic one dimensional bad guys to be hunted.

I would personally like to see them rest somewhere or see them hunt and feed. As for resting I think they should be randomly encountered sleeping in high places like mountains or valley. Not close to the roads obviously.

Todd Howard said that some dragons rest in caves.

Edit: also to answer ur question um dragons dont run away if you attack them first and some dragons will not attack unless you attack first and if you do attack they stick and fight

I think dragon hunting will def be interesting I intend to begin hunting them pretty early in game. It would be awesome if there was a guild or loosely affiliated group of dragon slayers though..

I don't think it's going to be a problem. If you put yourself out there, I think they're going to find YOU! :D

You might want to review this topic title. Dragons are the hunters not the hunted. You're just a tiny mouse in their field of vision. Eventually you outbattle them but i don't think tracking down a flying creature that's thrice your size could be equated with hunting . That would require riding a flying creature and seeking them about the skies, something that's just
Not.
Going.
To.
Happen.

Sorry.
And if you mean their lair, how sure are you that it's reachable?

I mean, we already know that dragons occasionally appear randomly... so why couldn't you "hunt" them? They're like any other creature in the game, just bigger, stronger, and scarier.

No, not this - agreed. But maybe there are some more different hunting-possibilities, like e.g. using some sort of bait ? - Todd said "... >Reign of Fire< is a great movie". :hubbahubba:

The hunter becomes the hunted. People hunt Lions, Tigers, Elephants, just about every animal on earth and those three that I meantioned are bigger, stronger, and faster then humans. Just because something is bigger and badder does not mean it can't be hunted. So yes you can Dragon Hunt and I shall do so

Wow I didn't even think of that. Tom did say that they were paying more attention to certain creatures and give them camps and agendas. If dragon do this also I will never get bored of this game. I makes me think of smog the dragon haha. Maybe you could find rare items or treasures in their layer

Yeah, very bad phrasing from my part.
Sorry. Let me try again:
Main point is you do not wander around their realm, the skies. If they choose to ignore you despite your attempts to draw attention upon yourself, then nothing really happens does it?. That doesn't qualify as hunting, at least not to me. You'd have to roam the skies for that, which you don't.
If by hunting you mean provoking dragons into attacking you and then battling the beasts, ok, you can, will and absolutely must do it.
My 2 cents, anyway.
