Dragon Riding in future DLC?

Post » Sat Jul 02, 2011 9:35 pm

I dont exactly see why we cant ride a dragon. There is supposed to be a shout that is an actual dragon's name that lets us summon a dragon to our aid, if that dragon is going to be helping us, you would think asking that same dragon to let us ride them would not be too big of a stretch. Unless of course, its a hi/bye deal and we never get to speak or interact with the dragon outside of battle.

ok, well if you dont mind telling me, why is this all "preposterous"? Why would you to NOT ride dragons?

Well in the TES universe and many other fantasy lore dragons are considered very intelligent and mystical beings. Most of them being a sentient creature would find it insulting to have a mere human or some ofter bipedal riding piggy back on them like some kind of mule, pet, slave.

They have their own agendas and don't want to be running around as some lowly creature's mount and carrying all his stuff like a pack mule.

How woud you feel if someone put a saddle on you and told you to go somewhere with all this crap on your back without your consent? While you were very much larger than him, can breathe fire, and fly?

I really think all those scales and spines would cause major chafing. Is Goldbond in TES lore?

We can ride dragons!

IGN: Can you ride dragons in Skyrim?

Todd Howard: Not in the way you're asking.

What do you think they meant when they said there are romance options? :hubbahubba:

yet you ignore the lore.

seriously - dragons are the enemy. we're in no way, shape, or form friendly with them - unless you want to talk about akatosh, and as a god i think he'd be a bit above being ridden like a common mule.

if this is what you call pure TES, i'd like to get off now. and frankly, fallout is - for me - an FPS with elements of RPG. which does not describe TES.

Well you never know maybe all alduin needs is "a little love" so maybe riding him isn't such a bad idea.......

Am I the only one who doesn't think dragon riding would be awsome?

No. I don't think it'd be awesome either.

I understand what your saying and that is why i made several points of adding dialouge, character aspects, and details to make them an actual part of the game. it would be cool if they werent a "mule" but a equal, a COMPANION, a friend, or somthing of that nature

what exactly is it that you want skyrim to turn in to eragon? there is no lore that I know of that lets humans ride dragons.the dragons in the tes lore are smarter then humans every thing they do involves magic, flying, breathing fire etc.why would a intellegent creature let a lesser being ride it

Dragons are dangerous, intelligent, and wild. They're not a horse. We may meet a friendly dragon during the main quest that will let us ride on top of him for whatever reason, but beyond that, no thanks. It would ruin my current view of dragons, and what the game is about, which is to KILL them. I seriously doubt Bethesda would consider it. I can 100% Guarantee that there will be a mod for though.

So, how do you work around the fact that they want to destroy the world and eat you?

i do think it would be cool to have dragon as mounts but i think it should only be as a mount or to call upon for aid not so much for air combat.

That is just preposterous, that needs to stop with all these ideas on riding dragons, This is getting very repetitive with this and that constantly reappearing from people who make these threads.

Thats it.

Did I need more thats or commas, or did I have to be more subtle?

WoW isn't what i was working towards. Besides, how many good games do you find where you can ride dragons? I only know of one and its on the PS3. These ideas do have specific TES aspects. Bethesda likes hiding things such as caves and what not, horse armor inspired my to think about dragon armor, my ideas on companions out could be carried over and improved from fallout. Its all there and its all pure TES all the way.

I use to love the game DragonStrike. Awesome game. I probably still have the CD around here somewhere. It was a dragon riding/combat flight sim.

You have a great point, and for the record, eragon is a childrens book. i bet everyone here would think of that book as bull**** given that the person who wrote it stole most of the ideas from the LOTR series

False, there was at least one battlemage in Elder Scrolls lore who rode on a dragon.

NO! I have had enough about these questions. If bethesda is smart, dragonriding will be nonexistant. It is overpowered and cheap- bottom line.

Really? I am not sure how the passage "my dragon companion" can be misinterpreted. And I remember it being a log or journal.

Oh sooo true. They would also probably have to go back to the days of random generation, just to make the wold big enough.
